Should WinCustomize support IM goodies?

AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Instant Messenger, etc. have all kinds of interesting "goodies" that you can download of them. Avatars, Emoticons, Winks, Backgrounds, etc. And probably even more than we're thinking of.

The question is, should WinCustomize have a section to support these kinds of things? Let us know.

It would be great to see what the creative skinners here could do for these programs. If the responce was low, the section could always be removed.

Yes, the best skinners on the net combined with a bunch some of the most popular programs. That's an A+++ idea, go for it!!!

goodies

Usually are not free. It WOULD be nice to have a section with subsections (much more organized than the other sections) for each type.

AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Instant Messenger etc. are all bundled with a lot of junk. It would be better if u supported third party IM clients like Miranda or Trillian etc.

I think it would be great if MSN was supported, lots of new features in the freshly release version 7. I dont use aol or any of those, but I'm sure those people would love support too.

On that note, I don't think Wincustomize should not support any 3rd party IM clients which do not use their own network, espically those that sell their product.

I'd rather see a DX3 plugin that does Instant Messaging

I would like to see a DX ability to tie into IRC and MSN. If an MSN 7 widget could be made, that would be incredible!

(perhaps the best way to encourage skinning for IM apps would be to make a custom front end for them that users could skin)

I would say go trillian. It can access all of the IM major formats and was designed with skinners in mind. Whats out there at the moment is pretty dull, but when you lot get to work on it......

So I vote AIM!!!

If the interface shell can be efficiently skinned and remain stable, and the emoticons can be substituted with say PNG, or .ico images - I am thinking your on to something here, Brad.

If the above is true, I would say go for it - and include all instant message programs that can be skinned in the gallery! Might as well serve up goodies for all tastes.

I think there are better choices for libraries than IM watchamacallits. Especially since they're not really *skins* per se.

TRILLIAN SKIN SECTION, dear god please add a trillian skin section

most definatly it would make douwnloading them from the startdock network better and we wouldn't have to go to the other sites to get the proper customization for our computers

Those of us who want/wanted trillian will have to be dissapointed
We've been through this multiple times. It won't happen because Creuelan Studios won't link to WC , or so I heard.

Mind you I didn't see any links to WC on Firefox's page, and it got added to the library the 1st time it was asked for.

I remember that one of the biggest arguments made about Trillian was that there weren't too many skins being done in the first place so it was doubtful whether or not it would be beneficial to add a Trillian section. However, if you got to Deviantart, you will see that since the release of Trillian Pro 2, there have been a somewhat steady stream of skins for the program. I'm all about Trillian skins!
