Ctrl/Shift/Esc.....kill litestep.exe in 'processes'...load c:\windows\explorer.exe in 'applications'.

That'll do it....

Open Task Manager (Control-Shift-Escape), kill the Litestep and Explorer processes (if they are still opened) from the Processes tab, then from the Applications tab, click on the New Task button, and write "Explorer.exe" in the dialog. I think this should bring back the Explorer shell.

Dang, Jafo beat me to it.

Well this could have been usefull...Thanx guys for the info, now I guess i'll load up Litestep once again and give it a whirl.

Jafo

Has LS ever crashed so bad that it did'nt let you use the Control-Shift-Escape to open task manager. Cause I believe that was my case.

If I purchase Object Desktop I wont use LS. I just like the multiple desktop feature alot.

I have Outlook Express for e-mail. Is there a way that I can set it up to always check my mail once a minute and notify me if I have mail?

LSMail [a Litestep module] is set in two of my most recent themes to do exactly that....

I think im going to purchase DesktopX, Does include a version of IconX? And will I be able to use Widgets if I have DesktopX?

What software do you already have?  If you have Windowblinds or another OD software, you should buy the Object Desktop suite. For only a little more money, you get a lot more software, including DesktopX, IconX, IconPackager, Windowblinds, WindowFX, etc :)

I'm not sure if just the Desktop X software still includes IconX. I know it used to, but not sure it still does.  Nevertheless Object Desktop is the way to go.

Well I have WindowBlinds, Object Dock Plus, And IconPackager. I dont care for FX and I heard that IconX is buggy....So I dont know what to buy, seems pointless now to get Object Desktop just for DesktpX....

When did you purchase Windowblinds and Icon Packager (ObjectDock Plus is not part of OD)?  Maybe you can get your purchase for both (40$ together) put towards a purchase of the whole suite (50$) and you would then only have to dish out an extra 10$. Contact sales @ stardock.com.

IconX will only improve, Window FX is really cool, you got to try it, and there are more than a dozen other programs in OD. Well worth the extra 10$.

Don't forget that with OD, you get all the software released in the next year.

Whats the difference between the Desktop Objects and the Widgets.
Well, I don't have it, but if I understand correctly...

To use desktop objects you would have to be "running" DesktopX.

To use widgets you would have to have DesktopX installed, but not necessarily running.

Pharoe got it correct. You don't need to have Desktop X running in order to use widgets. As Widgets are exe's, you can open and close them individually quite easily. You can also have specific widgets auto-run, you can assign different keyboard shortcuts to toggle the visible/invisible. Etc.

Hope things work out for you.
