Well I believe that you guys deserve more credit than yall recieve.
The way I see it, you guys "gals" are the reason that this site is so enjoyable. However, I did'nt mean to take anything away from the admins.
This web site is the first to show me that the internet is not a jumbled mess of links and information, but more a place that has substance and integrity. I learned that because of the people that I interact with here such as you HG, and the others I listed. Jafo at the top of my list ofcourse, as he has always gone out of his way to help me.

I just love this site. It has it all. Keep up the great work guys!

Speaking of helping me, I have a question/problem.

For some reason I have been having mutiple problems when trying to use Litestep, Iconx, and Desktop X. Im trying to run them seperatly and I am using the free versions which I am aware of some restrictions.

I wonder if it could possibly be becuase of SPA2 but then im sur others would also have the same problems.

I have up-to-date everything. No viruses, spyware ect.

I was thinking of doing another reformat just to see if luck is on my side. Im really upset that I cant get them to work.
Iconx especially. I wonder if there is anything I might need or be overlooking. I generally have been able to figure things out. However, this problem has got me stumped.

What really gets me is that everything used to work fine but now it just twiches and jumps over the screen and sometimes IconX changes its own configuration. Before I restart my machine "If you can understand that.

I reformated my PC once again.

I want to use the Litestep theme Fetchi (top bar)

Please provide me with a link to the Version of Litestep that you recommend for that theme to work good on. I know I have asked this before so please forgive. I just want to make sure I install the correct Litestep the correct way to use that theme so I know if that is what has been my problem

Yes I will read the read me notes for Fetchi, but any other information you can give me about installing Litestep or the Fetchi theme would be much appreciative.

Thank You!

That'll get it installed.....then...

http://www.litestep.net/?section=7&catId=0&action=details&id=93

Should get you to RC3....the latest build.

It's a beta...but then so are all LS builds, really...

Install with installer....get out of LS and copy the core files in RC3 to overwrite the ones in the install....reload LS....and Bob's yer Uncle...

Ok.

I give up on litestep. Im just to much of a novice for it. JAfo, this time when I reinstalled Litestep it frooze my PC up, I had no choice but to reformat again! So I must say that your litestep themes look really good but I must stay away from Litestep untill I can find time to really learn how it works.

Thanks for all the past help thou.

As for Doodle bug. Still no word. How can someone be so hard to contact, this is ridiculous, sometimes I wonder what he would even say to me if I located him. I hope that when the day comes he is understanding. Anyway, its late and im beat. Goodnight Wincustomize

Im trying to run Object Dock Plus. It is acting strange. When I run it and click on the desktop then an object dock plus window opens in the task manager. Its really pi**ing me off. I ran norton disk check and it says there is a problem with my security decriptors what does that mean? and is it a problem. Olus when I reboot for it to fix it does'nt.

So what do I do. And could this be related to the Object dock plus problem. It seems like lately every thing is going whack. I've reformated like 4 times already im still having issues with just about all stardock apps.

Jafo do you use SPA2.

SP2?....no, not yet.

Seems like you have something 'specific' to your computer [hardware or software] that is giving you grief.

Most people don't have quite as many 'issues' as you appear to be having....

Is it better to wait for a while before I use Spa 2. I just did a fresh reformat. I remember everything was fine before SPA 2. Maybe I wont use it yet! I bet that is why all my proggies have been going hay wire.

You dont have to respond to this.

Im just thinking out loud. I bet spa 2 has been my problem all along. Even LS worked fine untill Spa2. Ill just use spa 1 and see if things work better. If not then I will trouble shoot my hardware.

You would think that Microsoft would have their shit together by now. Im on their web site and they got new updates they make you download and run before you can have access to the critical updates and so on.

Finally some answers!!!!

Ok, the object dock plus problem was my mistake. I simply fixed it from the options screen. "Unchecked show in task bar" Im surprised no one knew to tell me this IE.Jafo...lol

The problem I was having with IconX is stardocks problem!
Simply found from reading other threads.

The SPA 2 problem I was having is Microsoft's problem. Their update site will sometimes post updates that you already have, then when you try to reinstall an update, it says it failed, only it did'nt fail, you just already have it. I found that information while browsing Microsoft's update trouble shooter.

As for LS well im to scared to try it now that things are running smoothly again. Now im off to finish reinstalling my software.

Geez, I should have left well enough alone. Atleast now three days after trying to reformat my PC and use SPA2 I finally have my answers and am back on track. Time to see whats new in the downloads section of wincustomize.

Question: I was thinking about purchasing the Object Desktop suite this afternoon, will it be cheaper for me because I have already purchased three things?

Also I was wondering about what would happen if I get it and then it does'nt work...'

And last but not least, If I do get it does it come with a version of IconX that has the bugs worked out yet, i've read some other posts that say it is buggy...

Also I noticed with it you can have mutiple monitors 'seperate desktops' like in Litestep.

One more thing. If I download Object Desktop is it one installer that installs all the programs?

Does it include everything (Program wise)on the site, like Widgets, ect.

csurfside: now that you got everything working great, create a restore point in XP's System Restore (Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore). That way you can still play around LiteStep or whatever you wish and if your system goes haywire instread of formating again for the Nth time, just do a system restore.

Why don't you just purchase Object Desktop (50$ the first year, 35$/year after that) instead of buying every software seperatly. The only thing that does NOT come with Object Desktop is Cursor XP and Object Dock Plus. Window Blinds, Icon X, Desktop X, Object Bar, and over a dozen more programs are included.  If you just purchased one of the above and would wish to change your purchase to the whole Object Desktop suite, maybe you can contact Stardock sales (sales @ Stardock.com) and maybe they would just make you pay the difference. You never know. Note that when you subscribe to Object Desktop, you have access to all the alpha and beta versions, so you always have the latest up to date version of every program.

Thanx Paxx.

The problem with the Litestep was that I lost my desktop all together and then was unable to reboot and recover it or get any keyboard functions to respond so I dont see how a restore point would,ve helped me, but thanx for your advise.

I dont believe that a retore point is worth having. I keep it turned off to save space even though I have a 120 gig hard drive. Plus, it allows for spyware and viruses to embed themselves. I love learning new things, so if there is something that would be more effective please feel free to share.

Also, I usually just use norton ghost disk to copy my hard drive to another for a back up.

As for the Object Desktop, I have already purchased the window blinds, I dont think I would mind paying the full fee up front. I dont understand why you have to pay an extra fee every year. Im supposing that is if people want to keep getting the latest updates.

Are all the bugs worked out of IconX yet?

If you have Norton Ghost, I guess that is a good alternative to System Restore.

As for Object Desktop, it's a yearly subscrition that gives you access to all the Object Desktop software for a full year, instead of only buying a one time software. Every version of every software there will be available to you. If you don't renew your subscription, you still gte to keep the software you have of course. You're not renting the software, you're given the opportunity to download and install everything.  For example, if you purchased Windowsblinds 4, you only purchased the version 4 of Windowblinds. But if you're an Object Desktop subscriber, and Windowblinds 5 is released during your subscription, it's yours.  Not to mention that Windowblinds is 20$, IconPackager is 20$, DesktopX is 20$, Windows FX is 20$, Icon X is 10$. But you get all these and many more goodies for only 50$ with Object Desktop (furthermore renewal is only 35$). Well worth it if you ask me.

As for IconX I have no idea, I don't use (don't like it, personnally).

Contrary to popular mis-information, LiteSTEP will never 'require' you to reformat, or to reinstall Windows.

It is a simple executable much like notepad.exe except it provides module-loading capacity to create an alternate GUI functionality to that of Explorer.exe [yet another simple executable].

In XP life is dead simple, as the OS kernel is directly accessible via the task manager enabling the stopping of any errant process, or the starting of such as regedit or, better still, an alternate Shell management proggy for those who might need more hand-holding.

XP can happily run shell-less and therefore GUI-less....though it gets a bit tedious working via Task Manager, it's not impossible at all.

I used to load a shell manager to assist in switching between them but now I can't be bothered...I just kill one process or another.

Sure, you can load a dud theme and end up without a GUI....but that's a minor glitch, not a reason to abandon ship and swear off shells for all eternity.

You should NEVER 'need' System Restore to recover from a bad shell load....talk about overkill...

System Restore is for those who delete their System32 folder or some such in an attempt to save space......and wonder why the comp is only half there.....

In all my themes I include the line in my 'ReadmeFirst.txt'....

Remember....Litestep doesn't kill computers....people kill computers....

How do I get back into explorer shell after I install a lite step theme and it crashes the desktop?

I tried to use the task manager but it would not display....
If you know a secret then please share it with me...
