Msgboard Chatroom Marathon

Honestly, I would go to IRC for this kind of stuff, but if any of you have been there recently, everyone seems to be...inactive. Sooooooooo, out of boredom, I'm turning a thread among this msgboard into a chat room, anyone care to join? =P.

It's Sunday night, and I'm bored out of my mind. There's much to do, but I'm too lazy to get around to do it. My boyfriend is busying trying to get Visual Studios to work so I can't talk to him on the phone....and we can't seem to talk over the phone anyways...it'll just be silence mostly.

New Semester started........so anyone alive out there to join Elffie in this chat marathon? =P

Let's try not to let this post hang for over 2 hours, hm? =P

Sure, here I am figuring out the problems with the WC Browser. While I'm busy at that, the 2000th post is taken by Fuzzy the multi-poster....sigh...what a thankless job...sniff..sniff...

On the other hand, that "exile" button may come in handy when we near 3000! Hint. Hint. nudge. nudge. say no more....

Well, I was invited, but seems by the time I got here the party ended. Oh well, so much for invitations. And to think, I really braved this thread.

i hope you arent thinking of leaving us already are you???

for one thing, i have started to make progress on the mysterios smart button problems

also we need more females here, to help stop me feeling out numbered

werewolf, what is the current state of play on your smart buttons???

the posts about your playing with your path statement are slightly worrying me.

on this machine (based on the "path" command at a command prompt) my win2k path is:

PATH=C:\WINNT\system32;C:\WINNT;C:\WINNT\System32\Wbem

i am not sure what the last bit is all about, but there is NO stardock WB or OE stuff in my path, and smart buttons work fine for me.

the smart buttons dll is called "smart.dll" and should be sitting in the dir you have WB installed into. so since it is in the dir WB is executing from, it should always be able to find it, regardless of your path statement.

what path settings are there in you c:\autoexec.bat file?

if you dont know what you are doing edit this with extream caution

Elfkura - I may have created spam monsters.....

after mint chocolate dragons, unicorns, and the merang clouds on the chocolate plannet, this is quite a small acomplishment

anyway, they are no danger. compared to Doreen and Feline (doreenitus / felinitus) they are rank amators

good to see you are back. so, will we be seeing more of you now?

/me *giggle*
that isnt a worrying path statement.

this is the path statement from my teraterm window, split onto several lines for readability:

PATH=/usr/bin:
/usr/ccs/bin:
/usr/sbin:
/usr/java/bin:
.:
./bin:
/usr/local/bin:
/usr/at/lib/bin:
/company/users/feline/tree/devtools/bin:
/company/users/feline:
/company/users/bod/bin:
/company/bin

feline - an 'amator' is not the same thing as 'amateur' which is what I think you meant! Unless you did mean amator...but that kind of flattery will not get you chocolate...

/me is all in favour of a group hug with feline and starone

/me runs off to get a dictionary to work out what fuzzy is on about
Reply #2043 Top
/me thinks it is time to jump up and down on fuzzy until he explains what he means

dictionary.com -> "amator" not found

google.com -> "amator", most of the hits seem to be in russian

what exactly does this mean?
and why is "flattery" not going to get me chocolate???

Hi all

Feline: My Win2k Autoexec.bat and config.sys file are 0 length files.

The changes I made to my path were restored immediately by Loki, god of mischief.

The current status of my quicklaunch buttons is, for lack of a better way of communicating death, a complete lack of doing anything useful at all.

I have reset the quicklaunch buttons using wbconfig.exe and all is well there.

I tried to register smart.dll thinking that it had lost its way and became embarassed. I got the following:

---------------------------
RegSvr32
---------------------------
smart.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found.

DllRegisterServer may not be exported, or a corrupt version of smart.dll may be in memory. Consider using PView to detect and remove it.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

PView does not exist on my computer

If you know where a virginal version of smart.dll may be residing, I could replace the cynical version which may have decided that I was trying to be too smart for my own good, and is now being arrogantly evasive.

g'morning cats & Fuzzys & wolves...

argh me is too sleep today for this kat... hehe

/me *oops*

Doreen, what do you expect from me? where i work all medical words are handled by 5 character alpha-numerical codes. eg "H33.." is some form of asthma

anyway, that is my excuse, and i am sticking to it
Reply #2047 Top
werewolf, this is getting ever more interesting.

i had assumed (sorry for swearing) that the smartbutton.dll didnt nead to be registered to work.

how are you finding out your current system PATH?

my autoexec.bat and config.sys are a similar size. i am getting my path by simply typing "path" into a command prompt window.

i *may* know what is going on with your machine's path, but lets sneak up on it.
