Msgboard Chatroom Marathon

Honestly, I would go to IRC for this kind of stuff, but if any of you have been there recently, everyone seems to be...inactive. Sooooooooo, out of boredom, I'm turning a thread among this msgboard into a chat room, anyone care to join? =P.

It's Sunday night, and I'm bored out of my mind. There's much to do, but I'm too lazy to get around to do it. My boyfriend is busying trying to get Visual Studios to work so I can't talk to him on the phone....and we can't seem to talk over the phone anyways...it'll just be silence mostly.

New Semester started........so anyone alive out there to join Elffie in this chat marathon? =P

Let's try not to let this post hang for over 2 hours, hm? =P

OK, Crae....I'll hand the cookies over. I have to warn you, though, I dipped them in chocolate a couple times.

Doreen! You drive a bug? What year? What does it look like? I always wanted a Karmann Ghia.

Thanks Java that's "Lord Farquaad" the one that calls me his princess instead of his mom... hehe
my other son only calls me princess when he wants a game... hehe
I had no intentions of getting a car the day I ended up getting it... I just happen to come across it and like I said it was fully loaded w/ everything I ever wanted on a bug so I grabbed it, it had the spoiler, killer stereo sys & speakers, 6 CD mag is in the trunk, power roof etc the only thing is I wanted a black bug not that color but I might paint it black next year...

/me likes the original Bug better, even though it dates back to WW2

The original one had style, the new one is too polished (and bloody expensive).
cuz the original bugs were much more masculine looking, (but the frame was like a tin can)
the newer bugs look more feminine and the frame is heavier and solid (me and my boys can hardly shut the door it weighs a ton)
and yes they are expensive though if I had not stumbled across the deal I got on this one I would not be drivin a bug either...

now where is that Elf! she makes me nervous when she gets too quiet...
unlesssss when Robby is around she kicks the rest of us to the curb?????? hmmmmm?????? hehe

I really want a Karmann Ghia. They were built on a beetle chasis. This is what they look like: http://www.karmann-ghias.co.uk/
Somebody once said, "Karmann Ghias are bugs in high drag". Thought that was funny. I've wanted one since I was about 13 when I saw one in a hot VW magazine. Doubt that I will have one for awhile, since they are pretty expensive to buy (at least around here) and would probably need restoring (which I don't have time or money for). but, maybe someday.

Right now I drive a grocery getter. It's a 98 Lumina. And it's tan *blech*, but I go a good deal on it and it has been a good car. I plan to get a used Camaro as a summer car, though. That should be fun!!

I'm on Academic Suspension (meaning I'm disenrolled from a university for a semester because my gpa is ungodly low). I'll be pulling from all msgboard frequent visits and I'll just be cramming and trying to relax so I can bring my gpa up really quickly. I have one mega mess on my hands. Please pray for me =/
Reply #812 Top
Come on Elf get w/ it! and you better not be reading this or you're not studying! hehe
Hope things get better for you
Oh Java my mom had a Camaro (very uncomfortable dash super low and extended too far out)
she ended up trading it in for a Honda stationwagon...
Hmm, well at least your university is doing something about it. Mine doesn't give one damn how low your ratings are, as long as you pay the bill.

/me does a sort-it-out-yourself study

what I don't understand is why a university would suspend someone for a low gpa how is "that" suppose to help someone get motivated to try harder? why not impose more class not less until it gets picked up?

I got an academic suspension from Central Michigan University (which I was enrolled in the honors program at and lived in the honors dorm). I knew I was on my way out, so the last term (before I got suspended) I enrolled in a community college (which is an easy way to get your GPA back up) they then sent me a letter saying that I could rematriculate, but I never did. I never got my bachelors dgree. yes, it is true, I only have an Associates degree in art...and I now am the Dir. of Operations at Stardock. Funny how the world works, eh? Makes no sense at all, but makes sense in the end. Just remember, everything happens for a reason. you may not know it at the time, and it may suck at the time, but it makes sense in the end. If I would have not been kicked out of school, I wouldn't have ended up at the school that I did. Then, I wouldn't have met my husband, and I wouldn't have moved down to lower Michigan and ended up at Stardock.

Doreen, we already have a couple Camaros (they are race cars). I want it for the sports car feel and T-tops. A Honda station wagon just wouldn't fit the bill I'll still keep my "daily driver" Lumina. I just want a "Fun" car that doesn't make me feel so old. I have a need for speed!!!! VROOM VROOM!!!!

BTW, I had two warnings before my suspension. So, it wasn't a shock. I totally understand why they do it. They only can enroll so many students. If you aren't cutting the mustard, they want you out so that they can enroll other students. I can't blame anybody or anything for my suspension. I didn't try hard enough, and I skipped too many classes. It was one of those hard knock learning situations, though. I'm more ambitious now because of it.
Sooo, skipping classes is bad? One of the good things about University is that you can skip classes at will. Or at least, you can over here. I know people who skipped all classes and only did the exams and the workshops ('cos those are obligatory) (and the bastards finished school before me!).
You can skip classes, but you still have to pass the tests. A lot of classes (unless they are a lab) you can do that. Some classes, however, actaully have assignments, so you have to go to class to know what they are. I hated college.

I saw the marathon thingy.... hope I can add some input..... I love this website!!! Thank you....

BTW, JavaBrain, get a Lexus Sportcross. Now that is H-O-T hot.

Like it so much... I'm gonna do a desktopX for it!!!!

As far as school is concerned, as long as you learn to read, write, work in a team (undersant team dynamics), ans ask an educated question you will be fine. I think most people would be surprised how many "A" students can not do what I descibed earlier very well. Working hard and ambition helps too!!

And furthermore the is a growing movement to change the educational system to teach those values instead of memorization and repetition.

AND!!!!! Yes I really believe that this site is very welcome to those who hear of it. Now that there has been a design change I think it very well could be the best skin site around. If you want to change your desktop and have a pretty wide selection then here is the site for you. If wincustomize keeps up the good work along with Stardock (and as well as other skin sites and programs like Talisman and NeXTStart) then by 2004 this will be a major market for designs, advertisement, artists, educationers, kids, musuems, libraries, offices, and the list continues.

AS you can see I have major plans for this progam. And I believe once the 3rd generation of products come out it will be unstoppable. (as long as the products are good; i.e. no crap!!! )

joetheblow hit the nail right on the head...
I never got to college, I won't get into all the reasons behind it but I went as a teenager working in a Hamburger Shop to the job I have today and all I will say is that my job/position has me the envy of the whole County where I'm at (I thought it to be an accident) but as Java said things go the way they should in the end, most find their skills in life one way or the other educated or not
But Elf give it your best shot okay!!!
Too bad! We plan on it all to be crap!!!

Lexus SportCross? Are you out of your mind? You obviously make more money than I do!! There is no way that I can afford a $60,000+ car! Silly, man you are, joetheblow!

I'm feeling a little bit better now. I actually view the suspension as a good thing for me, as it got my act together and start taking care of problems that were effecting me for the past few semesters. I believe my parents are understanding, but I know that from this point onwards, I'll put huge efforts to getting good grades. I know I can do it. I just need to get over this stupid thing called "text anxiety"....

Anyways, I've gone to talk to a lot of people today, namely those in some higher up departments of counseling and advicing (connections help) and I believe next semester shall be better. I'll probably loose a lot of my free time as they'll be taken up with studies (yes, even boyfriend is lost probably....).

I'm going home at the end of May, and so from that point onwards, I'll probably not see you. When you do see me, you know that my grades are a passing level and that I'm doing well.

erm..boyfriend time. I still have my boyfriend. This is the real reason why I feel a bit more confident. A lot of people who know me here said I can do it, and even from so much support, one can believe one can achieve.

I do have email though, so feel free to email me at either of these addys.

And I just noticed...
this thread has less than 200 more posts to go before it hits 1000...

I don't think I'll be returning since someone may delete my account for lagging wincustomize with this thread
