Msgboard Chatroom Marathon

Msgboard Chatroom Marathon

Honestly, I would go to IRC for this kind of stuff, but if any of you have been there recently, everyone seems to be...inactive. Sooooooooo, out of boredom, I'm turning a thread among this msgboard into a chat room, anyone care to join? =P.

It's Sunday night, and I'm bored out of my mind. There's much to do, but I'm too lazy to get around to do it. My boyfriend is busying trying to get Visual Studios to work so I can't talk to him on the phone....and we can't seem to talk over the phone anyways...it'll just be silence mostly.

New Semester started........so anyone alive out there to join Elffie in this chat marathon? =P

Let's try not to let this post hang for over 2 hours, hm? =P

Doreen - sorry grusome humor, you get that working for a hospital

i learn things because it is fun. who cares beyond that?

so, Doreen works with computers. Doreen also works in a hospital. also Doreen needed a program to translate between 7 different "languages".

/me is almost afraid to ask

Doreen, you arent based in or near England are you by any chance?

it is just that i write software to deal with electronic messages that hostpitals send to doctors surgeries for a living.

the number of headaches the hospitals computers cause me is truely increadible.

/me is left with confusing feeling about all of this

Doreen is a lovely person, while many hospital computers seem unable to find their bottom with both hands and an atles.

/me decides to try the untimate test

Doreen, have you ever come across the computer message format EDIFACT?

yes Java taking a look at your mortality is a good way to start living...
as for my kids I think they raise me more then I raise them. hehe
my 5 yo calls me his princess I call him Lord Farquaad, cuz his height(we watch Shrek too much) hehe

Have a g'weekend and a Great B-day Monday!!!!

Feline nope I don't live in England if I did I'm sure my English would be more proper...
I'm in Cali

and no I can't recall seeing a machine msg EDIFACT? though I see many other msgs that love to throw me out of the program to the desktop when I'm building a report and I'm about 150 steps & 2 hours into it! argh!
however all msgs are logged and saved for the devs on the HD for them cuz that part is "not" my specialty so I don't even try to figure the msgs they are too cryptic.

I don't quite understand what you mean by what you do for a living feline? but mine consist of building reports, populations and universes (yes that sounds weird universes) I don't ask I just do it, hehe
The reports are built for way too many reasons to list but all have to do w/ Medical stuff.

/me watches T-man suspiciously

i hope you arent harboring any thoughts of stopping this threads growth! starone and i broke the problems with OB thread in two since it was getting big (all 200 posts of it *snigger*), and it just wasnt the safe after that.

look at it this way, this thread shows that this site is growing as a person, and developing its own excentricities. therefore it should be treasured for the wonderous thing that it is

Doreen, it has already been pointed out that most of the people actually here are girls

nice idea though.

/me wonders how many lurkers are watching this most educational thread

/me didnt realize it was JavaBrains birthday
/me goes looking for magic wand
...
/me thinks i am going to need two magic wands
...
.......
...........
AHHA!
done it

i always thought that chocolate birthday cakes tended to be to small.

now the chocolate plannet has a moon! with 21 candles (the age of nearly all women)! and the best bit is that the moon's orbit goes thought the whole in the middle. having a torroidal (ring donut) shaped planet makes things more interesting.

it was the suger filergery stair case leading up to the moon that needed the second wand. quite tricky that bit, since it has to move to keep pace with the moon.

/me considers singing happy birthday as a final touch

DOH, just remebered that you did say it was going to be your birthday. sorry about that JavaBrain, i got a bit distracted

Doreen - Feline nope I don't live in England if I did I'm sure my English would be more proper... I'm in Cali

i live in england, and look at the fun i have with english!
cali? i dont recognise that. but then, about the only thing i was ever taught in geography was volcanoes and earthquakes

Doreen - and no I can't recall seeing a machine msg EDIFACT? though I see many other msgs that love to throw me out of the program to the desktop when I'm building a report and I'm about 150 steps & 2 hours into it! argh!

/me hugs Doreen
that is a releaf. i get enought of them at work, without finding them here as well.

Doreen - I don't quite understand what you mean by what you do for a living feline?

basically i write software that handless the electronic messages hospitals send to doctors. thing is though there are loads of rules about how this is supposed to work that i am supposed to follow, but the hospitals dont. so when it all goes wrong doctors shout at me. hospitals dont pay much attention when i shout at them though. *sigh* piggy in the middle time

Doreen - but mine consist of building reports, populations and universes (yes that sounds weird universes) I don't ask I just do it, hehe

so, Doreen makes universes. this makes you a god of the new universes

Doreen - The reports are built for way too many reasons to list but all have to do w/ Medical stuff.

that sounds a lot like my work actually

going back to the subject of Bra's, i was fascinated to read in the May 2002 stardock magazine:

"if you buy ObjectBra or have Object Desktop youll get 1.2 as soon as its available"

so, no more need to wonder about which colour of wonderbra to order. soon we can all try out ObjectBra 1.2, presumably a fully skinnable Bra

/me wonders what special features it adds to normal bra designs.

can you imagine the bucks these devs get paid and the best names they can come up w/ for defined actions in their program is populations and universes??? hehe

hmmm a skinnable bra? that might put Victoria's Secret out of biz?

so Doreen, when are you going to produce your first skin for ObjectBra?

i am wondering about the screen shot you will post with it

Doreen - can you imagine the bucks these devs get paid and the best names they can come up w/ for defined actions in their program is populations and universes??? hehe

well, sort of
i work with these sort of people (programmers), and am one myself. as for all the money, not here

on the front of thinking up names, two of us spent 10 minutes trying not to call our latest program "cheese".

universe and population are actually maths terms, so if the programmers are mathameticians, this may be the official names

Doreen - hmmm a skinnable bra? that might put Victoria's Secret out of biz?

only if they produce the complete set of items

Well I really dunno what they are feline, all I know is we do not speak the same lingo at all... hehe
however I'm the only one in the County that actually somehow gets what we need from them, I usually draw cartoon scribbles & do alot of sign language to get my point accross to them, & then let them speak alien talk back to me and say yeah yeah...

Hi Doreen, I miss you, if you come on icq please contact me
Reply #772 Top
Doreen, that all sounds strangely familiar.

when ever i try to explain things to people here i always seem to end up using the white board, 6 different coloured markers, and lots of arm waving.

i often think they only say ok to shut me up.

getting them to explain things to me is normally much worse. i sometimes think we dont have a single word in common

/me thinks Doreen's programmers are lucky to have her
/me wonders which galaxy my colleges are from, not mine for sure

School's out tomorrow. I think I did all right in my exams. I've probably got a long post coming though... so... I should go type that right now

/me finds it hard to see how anyone could forget about us

perhaps Elf is just trying to encourage us to new heights of literary achievements. after all a 1 meg post would double the size of the thread at a single fell *giggle*
