Some ideas i have for a mod. I am not a modder but i think someone will be intrested.


IDEAS:             
     1)new starbases constructed by the costruction ships like now. 3 types of starbases: civilian starbase, military starbase, superweapon starbase                  
     2)new cruisers: experimental weapon cruiser, repair and refuel cruiser, long range cruiser
     3)new capships: havy weapons capship,**planet manipulation capship**, outpost deploying capship
     4)**massive starship constructed from a construction cruiser with lots of weapon,armor,strike craft and abilitys upgrades**(phase capable)

     1.1)civilian starbase only civilian upgrades:

[8]disassembling team (beams a team aboard enemie vessel wich damages hull and gives credits to user)                  [9]shelf destruction

         1.3)superweapon starbase realy super powerfull weapons:
                              
[1]advent: damping plasma shoot (shoot that drains shields and weapon systems)
[1]tec: tesla coils (just a powerfull electric beam)
[1]vasari: shield deactivating warhead (weapon that when it hits enemy vessel it dissables its shields(very good againist advent))
[2]advent: planet takeover (a signal that makes an enemy planet with under 5000 population yours)
[2]tec: omega radiation (aoe damage)
[2]vasari: disrupt phase network (projectile that makes impossible the phase jump from-to the target planet)
[3]advent: throw antimatter reactor (a small thingy that causes super explosion)
[3]tec: multi beam array (it aims all starbases beams to a point and from there a powerfull beam destroys enemy vessels(something like the death star))
[3]vasari: black hole generator (wait what did i said? black hole? ok this ability damages all ships in range for a large period of time. also in the end it causes a wave that pusses enemy ships away)
[4]weapons upgrade
[5]new weapons systems
[6]armor upgrades
[7]experimental shields (increased shield mitgation)
[8]experimental strike craft docks  (new strike craft types)

     2.1)cruiser using the weapon the curent starbases weapons(disintegrator,beams,psionic surge)
     2.2)cruiser that can repair and antimatter refuell massive fleets(aoe passive abilitys)
     2.3)cruiser using new long range energy weapons
                          
                                            
     3.1)capship with massive weapon arrays and AOE abilitys
     3.2)capship that can trnsform planets from volcano\ice to desert and then to terain(idk if its possible if not then it will permanently improve the planets population and slots)
     3.3)capship that can deploy varius types of outposts and stationary weapon platforms

I really like some of your ideas and actually have some similar items I was working on.

For example, super weapons are useless in Single Player games currently (i.e. AI doesn't build them) but I really like the models. I had started converting them to function as a Starbase with upgradable abilities and local orbit attack possibilities.

Another idea I like alot and tried, but unfortunately the AI doesn't appear to agree with,is having an Embassy StarBase. The reason I wanted this was having fleet supply used up by non-combat units is not right imo. I believe envoy's should work like StarBase constructors with the main goal of getting to the planet to create the embassy. All abilities would go on the embassy for improving the relationship and giving bonuses. Additional defense addon's and hull addons could be added as well for mid-late game support.

The Embassy Starbase does work for human players though, I just couldn't get the AI Envoy to build it in the remote enemy/allied gravity well in my testing. I gave the Envoy the dual role of Envoy and StarBaseConstructor and setup the entities correctly but they didn't seem to follow the logic necessary to build. I may try again though just in case I had something not setup quite right.

How about getting the envoy to build a SB constructor with only the ability to build the embassy. I really like this idea, maybe you can share the files so I can test out some things as well. I was chatting with psy on this and he seems to think that each SB will need its own constructor and ability.

This is true from what I understand if you want the AI to construct the right starbase.

How about getting the envoy to build a SB constructor with only the ability to build the embassy.

I've considered this approach too. It's not as ideal as the Envoy would still exist or would need to be made dead (ugh!). On the positive side you could control when the embassy is constructed so it only happens for Allied gravity wells (can't use target filters with createStarBase).

I'm wondering if something is not quite right in the engine code even with the Vasari colonizer and starbase construction AI. If you notice when playing the AI that Vasari is much more negligent in building starbases versus the Tech and Advent races. I had originally used the colonizer/starbase constructor approach with my plague race and dropped it for this reason. For this reason I am going to try again and see if I make any progress but I really wanted to limit it to allied graviy wells so may move back to the spawned constructor.

Is there a way to create the buffs such that the constructor is only spawned if there is not already a starbase in the gravity well?

From the little I know of abilities, I don't think so. Maybe start a new topic to get more opinions.

As to the Vasari not building SBs as much, maybe try using a copy of TEC or Advent as the new race base instead of vasari. Devs might of thought that would make Vasari AI too strong.

something happened i do not know what but all my models i have made have been corrupted and they no longer work i am going to have to make all the tec ships over again the vasari and advent are fine though

these are the things i have done so far

1 gave tec and advent a heavy carrier and raiding capital ship. vasari is still to come

2 gave pirates a capital ship increased health of the pirate ships and added more to the number of defenders around their base

3 increased all the health of the tec ships advent and vasari are next

4 changed around speed of all the ships only tec capitals are done right now

5 i will be doing all 2 of the cruisers next the repair will be a frigate

actually sir yes i did......... but i have stopped working on this so i can finish my  other mod O.R.B mod that i have had for awhile and decided that it need ed to be done and shared

crap i can send you the .mesh files your going to have to download the 3ds max trial and the tool for it....

my dad deleted all my .xsi files and softimage on the computer why i have to redo all the models for O.R.B and they where horrible....

yea he wants the files for the ships but i only have them in .mesh format so yea would be nice
