Forums are Back Up

Huzzah!

We've completed our work for the night and the forums are back up and running.  You'll notice a number of visual changes, and you'll hopefully notice improved speed and general performance.

Please post any issues you run into here.  We've done a lot of testing this past week and tonight, but if something slipped through we want to know so it can be fixed quickly.

Items not functioning at this moment:

  1. Recent Posts List on the Sidebar
  2. Featured Articles

Fixes are coming for these tomorrow.  For now, it's getting on towards 5am and we want to get some sleep  ;)

Thank you all for your patience.

If you dont tell us what url you are experiencing an issue on, along with your browser and browser version there is nothing we can do to solve any issues.

Please, take the extra two seconds to type out that information so we can quickly address issues.

My previous two replies earlier are apparently lost...somewhere between pages 2 and 3.

Re: Editing error - appears to have naffed up my formatting - esp. line breaks. WWW Link Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.12) Gecko/20080201 Firefox/2.0.0.12 Note that when entering the url in this post, the URL formatting box was functional, but incorrectly positioned at the very top left of the forum window. Editing is actually worse when I try to edit in the Wincustomize Browser, I get that reduced window, referenced in post #98 of this thread. This also scrunched up on editing

Why only 25 posts per page instead of 50? Takes so much longer now to fully read all the replies to the thread, waiting for each page to load. X-(

I agree with Brad, spiffy badges for subscribers would be cool (extra perk).

FYI - the above post (#104) is an example of loss of formatting resulting from editing. I tried and confirmed that I can introduce line breaks successfully by hand editing, though there is a sizeable delay in the result showing.

When I tried editing my above post, aside from it taking forever to show the changes, it brought me back to the first page, instead of this one.

The textboxes on the Personal Info page are really small. FF 2.0.0.12.

Also, when viewing someone's profile (not personal site) under Activity Status is says offline even though the person is actually online. It works fine in post view though (under the avatar).

On the Forums page the Logo, etc. are all the way to the left of the screen, yet on the home page and all the others, the logo is closer to the center. While I know this next one is silly, it still BUGS me. When your uploading something, the progress window at the bottom says "transfering" not "transferring" ;)

Everytime I try to click "View all recent posts" on the bottom from this thread, it brings me to the "This post does not exist" error.

Well....most the time.

Someone has more than likely asked this. If I right click on the posters name and click profile we used to get sent to their WC persnoal page, we now get sent to a new profile pgae. Will there be a quick link somewhere that by clicking on a nickname that takes us to the nicks WC personal page? I know how to get there, just wondering if there will be a quick one click way.

I love the new layout of the Forums and especially appreciate that it is shown whether the person is online or not. Great improvements :HOT:

It also seems to load a lot faster here, but maybe that's because I am here at rather odd times compared to the American crowd.

Edit test: posting was fast too with no delay. (FF 2.0.0.12)

Editing the above text did not mess up the line spacing, but I was instantly "transported" to the first page.

zakai1369 thanks, that's what I was looking for. ;)

I'm using the Web Browser in SDC. The forums posts are not showing if they are new posts or new replies, just a blank box shown in recent posts. :)

Ive noticed the grey backgrounds are back behind all the images after being fixed the first time., like Online\offline, reply\quote Wizop badges etc... XP, IE6, all threads.

I'd like to take a second to thank whoever had the idea to have links be blue and underlined instead of the the dashed gray line.  Much easier to see and understand function.

I did kind of like the external link in a initial topic underneath.  I read the authors text and my eyes are already traveling down the page.  Now I have to track back up to find the link.  Looks good and I'll get used to it but I think it's a break in the flow.

When I hit enter to move down a line to space out the text it is not working unless you create the line break yourself with < br >.(minus the spaces between the < and the letters)
I also find that if you edit an edited post, your edited text reverts back to the original post.
