Skelto: Stardock said Feb 2008 for a public release but no date has been specified.

If you want to use it right now then the only way is to purchase ObjectDesktop and download the beta.

Skellto, your posts may ve removed and you may get exiled or moved to visitor but in case you don't, check this out while you wait for DeskScapes

How to Win Friends & Influence People

The fact is that it'll be released when it's ready.  If you want to test it and you are a ODNT subscriber you can use teh beta now.  It's bad PR to announce dates and miss them.  It's bad PR to release something not ready for release.

No one is treating you poorly or withholdign anything because they don't like you or are mad at you.

It's. just. not. ready.

And really, this isn't an app that should bring you such joy that you are this upset not to have it.  What's the deal with all the anger?  How is DS going to improve your life so well that it's gettign you so upset.

I'm guessing Skellto is an American. If he indeed is, I would never answer his quesion based soley on his complete lack of grammar and incorrect spelling. 20 and can't spell or punctuate :( . Try using complete words, not "n" for "and". I'd love to see him attempt to get a high paying job while using the grammar and punctuation he displays here. It saddens me how the youth of today speak and write. I'm guessing Skeelto is one of the 85% of American youth between the ages of 13 and 21 who can't find Canada or Iraq on a map. :(

As for the release of the app, you'll get it when it's ready. Chances are you won't pay for it because you'll use a warez version of it.

You know what will happen. He'll install it and his computer won't be able to handle it.

All users are expected to treat others with respect and those who cannot do that are exiled from the site.

Unfortunately skellto has been exiled due to his recent posts.

Probably won't be a free public release of DeskScapes 2.0 in February. But it is available on Object Desktop right now in beta form.

This seems to be fairly typical of Stardock. Entirely unprofessional and that's my overall experience with them unfortunatley....

STARDOCK said Feb 2008 for public release...not the public. A member of this forum was told that it would be released on 27th Feb 2008 by STARDOCK's sales team.....but the bottom line is, it won't be, unless we fork out $50 for what is a very poor application...well, I did that before and I won't do it again......

harrym: Sometimes plans change.  Would you rather we stuck to dates and released something with problems, or took the time to ensure a good experience for users?

How is it unprofessional when you have people directly involved in the release and development keeping people updated on what is going on?  You don't find that in very many places.

The person who called was not told of a definite 27th release, but that we hoped it would make that date.  We want to make sure the DeskScapes release is enjoyable for all users, and if it takes a bit more time to ensure that than so be it.  I personally would prefer taking the time to make sure it is as stable as possible instead of releasing it just to make a date.

All I can say is, you guys set the date as Feb 2008 in the first place. If you weren't going to make that date then why set it? I think it's unprofessional to have people sucked in via the whole anticipation thing, then they get tired of waiting and there isn't a proper release date in sight so they just say stuff it and buy Object Desktop just so they can get the beta...or is that the plan.
If that sounds cynical on my part well, it is. Island Dog, you say you've kept people updated so, when is the official release date.......
Bottom line is, I really don't mind if it's not until next Feb, just don't tell me it'll be now and then not deliver...remember the old watch words...over promise and under deliver, well, that's what you've done
