DeskScapes 2.0 beta arrives!

Got Windows Vista? Got Object Desktop? Then animate your wallpaper

image
DeskScapes provides animated wallpaper for all users of Windows Vista.

Animated wallpaper isn't just for Windows Vista Ultimate users anymore.  With the release of beta 1 of DeskScapes 2.0 on Object Desktop, all users of Vista can use the hundreds of available .DREAM files here on WinCustomize as their animated backgrounds.

Object Desktop users also get some exclusive animated wallpaper content including four dynamic dreams (Water Dream, Earth Dream, Water Color, and Box Sample).

If you don't have Object Desktop, you can get it here.

Let me get this straight: Enhanced means normal and Free means crippled.

You got it backward. Free means free and enhanced means enhanced. My car isn't crippled because I didn't get the sunroof option.

I have Vista Business and i have gotten that mpeg 2 message. I loaded Nero 8 ultimate and the player and it got rid of those messages and now i have no problems at all with any of the the .dream downloads. I think you have to have a 3rd party player with the correct codec to play the .dreams.

I have Object Desktop and I have the option to show or see Betas in StarDock central, I have Vista Business so of course Deskscape 1.X is NOT in my list, because it would never work with Vista Business.

So I do not see Deskscapes listed as an available Beta to install. I have also run the manual updates. Doesn't seem like there are any direct likes on the web to the beta.

Is the beta supposed to show up in Stardock Central? Does it need the 1.X version installed previously for SDC to show it as a beta?

Any help is welcome.

It should show up in sdc for you.

Have you refreshed the XML?

I have Vista Ultimate but will still have to pay for the newer version of DeskScapes or buy Object Desktop, which I most certainly do not intend doing, certainly not after the way Stardock screwed up my Wincustomize subscription! They gave me Desktop/Dynamic Earth (apparently by mistake, with my Wincustomize subscription, plus two totally different serial codes to activate it) and then after a fresh re-install of my system a few months later, I tried to get Desktop/Dynamic Earth back and they told me I can't have it as it doesn't come with a Wincustomize subscription and that they had made a mistake (which I knew anyway)! Well whoop-de-doo! They could have at least let me keep the damned thing seeing as it was their mistake in the first place? But it was Stardock's mistake I'm afraid, not mine! I don't think I will bother with v2.0 as the first version works OK for me. And being Stardock, there are bound to be so many problems and cock-ups with it, that it's just not worth my while buying it?

I'm confused. What does purchasing Windows Vista Ultimate have to do with getting DeskScapes for free?

When DeskScapes 2.0 is done, you'll be able to download it and try it for yourself.  But how much you paid Microsoft for Vista Ultimate has nothing to do with software you should or shouldn't get from Stardock.
