[quote who="Gauntlet03" reply="15" id="3711278"] Define and validate "vast". Define who is and who is not part of the "community". These are impossible to validate or verify, its very well-meaning hyperbole. Brad is making the best possible business decision he can, and he has more access to the actual information required to make these decisions. If anyone could really quantify the popularity (or not) of a given DLC, its him. A lot of t

It makes me sad that the Gal Civ devs seem to universally consider their DLCs to be a "mistake". The vast majority of the Gal Civ community enjoy them and are happy to have them. We certainly don't consider them a mistake, and hope that our opinions count as well.
Come on Frogboy, I love you but you can't listen these loud mouthed curmudgeons who represent a mere vocal minority. I see these types all the time in every game community. I know, I know, Steam reviews, Steam's weird rating system, yadda yadda yadda, I understand where you are coming from. But your fans are the ones that will actually buy this. Besides, do you want Gal Civ III to go down in history as being less than what it could be just because of some jerks? These people will forget their
I love the idea of the crises, but so far I am 0-5, every single one has resulted in failure. Are they meant to be this hard to pass?
Some of you may recall that there was Dread Lord/Dark Avatar DLC coming that would include some new campaigns and add the Drath and Korath to the game. @Frogboy seemed to indicate that it was cancelled because of a few whiners. There seemed to be some clamor from the Gal Civ fans to release it though. Has there been any update on this yopiv? Personally, I really want to see it. The campaigns in Gal Civ 3 have always been good fun, but more than anything, I want my Drath back! Maybe the fact t
No prob, can anyone think of any other interesting Gal Civ mysteries?
One of my favorite things about Gal Civ is the amazing lore. I remember when I bought the first Gal Civ back in 2003 the thing that really drew me in was the fascinating back story, full of intriguing mysteries that draw you in to the game, hoping to find some obscure clue Here are five mysteries I hope we will see further explored in future expansions/games 1. Will the "dead" civilizations make a come back? Curre
This is some great support. I hope you see this, Gal Civ team. Thanks to everyone who has agreed with me!
To Frogboy et al, Please release the planned DLC mentioned in your previous Dev diary. Don't allow the curmudgeons to win. Your dedicated fans would love to play this content, especially those of us who are big fans of the GalCiv lore. Seeing the Drath and Korath again would also be awesome. As one final request, is there any chance that the campaign originally planned for Crusade (and mentioned in at least one of the dev diaries) will ever see the light of day? Thanks
Thanks for the response! Yes, it is very frustrating indeed. It is odd there is no way to turn this off. I would even be willing to edit XML files or something if there was a way to do it. I hope Stardock plans to fix this in the near future.
Hey guys, First time poster here, but huge Gal Civ III fan. I was wanting to know if there was any solution to probably my biggest annoyance in the game. I like to rename my larger fleets to something like 1st Fleet or Death Squad or something like that but whenever I add a new ship to the fleet the game will automatically rename it to something generic like Terran Fleet 4628 . Is there any way to keep the game from overwriting it like that? Thanks in advance for the h
I love Lord Kona! He is easily my favorite of the starting Republicans.
Well, running a Kona/GW Bush ticket I have managed to beat all the democratic contenders that I could find but I still don't show that FDR was unlocked. Is he a secret character that requires certain conditions be met like maybe winning a game with every electoral vote or winning the support of every lobby group? I would be really surprised if he wasn't in the game since he is usually considered to be at least one of our top five presidents.
For me it is the environment categorization of planets and asteroids that sound the most interesting.
I think this is referring to the Movies. This has been out for a while actually.
The problem with simply locking the default abilities as they stand today is that they are very uneven. Some civs use up the full ten points worth of abilities, some use much less.
I am a big fan of Gal Civ II, but one thing that has disappointed me about Galciv II is that the races are for the most part generic, simply giving you the ability to customize them with whatever bonuses you see fit. While some may prefer this route, i would actually prefer them to have locked abilities unique to each race. It would be great if there was an option to retain the free for all customization for those who prefer the current system, but I think having locked abilites would add a grea
Give us the Snathi! They are the one race who could be more evil than the Drengin. I think the most likely civs to be eliminated are on this list Arceans Torians Yor Korx Drath Iconians and Thalans are too new. Altarians are too important to the story. If I had to guess, I would say the Arceans and Korx.
Tech trading is an important way to minimize the AI's bonuses on higher difficulty levels, IMO.
What you really need is a T-Shirt with the Snathi on it telling you how they are going to destroy your worlds. Now THAT I would buy. Hear, hear! I would buy that at the drop of a hat.
One factor (though not the most significant factor by any means) that hasn't been mentioned is the "Civ IV factor". For a lot of people, Civ IV made TBS games cool again. This may have translated into an increase in sales for GalCiv II.
Hey Spear, even though we were on opposite sides in this debate, I just wanted to say that I thought you were a classy, intelligent guy. That may not be said of all people in this thread.
Ark-ians, baby!
Actually, I really think that the core races should be fixed and uncustomisable... that is, after all, why you have custom civs - to customise. This, I think, is the best solution to everything!
The Yor AI isn't overpowered (in fact, I don't think the Yor AI is particularly good, compared to others).
