Upgraded from Fences 1 to Fences 2 and lost layout and icons in OS Customization WinCustomize Forums

Hello, I've been using Fences 1.0 for a while and today decided to upgrade to Fences 2. When I uninstalled 1.0 I was asked if I wanted to delete the existing layout and I clicked NO, however after installing Fences 2 and rebooting I do not have any of the previous fences/icons. Can these be retrieved in some way or must I recreate everything? TIA for your help. Edit: On closer examination I see that all of the icons that were previously in fences ar

I used this a while back and just need to renew my subscription. I'm using the trial version in the Windows 8 Consumer Preview at the moment and I think it's the solution to the Metro UI that I find unusable. Perhaps there will be another sale later this year when "8" is release (hint) and I'll buy the 5 user network license.

Brightness/contrast issues with some WB skins in WindowBlinds WinCustomize Forums

I use Windows Live Mail which has the annoying behavior of turning message headers grey after the message has been read (cannot be changed). When using the Aero and Aero variants the grey headers are reasonably easy to see, but with a number of other skins I've tried the headers become almost unreadable. This is a great dock. I've been using it on Vista and Windows 7 (both 32 bit and 64 bit) and it works fine. The screenshot shows the Leopard theme which looks great at the bottom of the screen (like the Mac), but doesn't work for me at the top of the screen where I position it (can't get used to having the taskbar at the top). There are many other themes to choose from though. Definitely recommended!

Object Dock Plus 2.0 and Windows 7 in Docks WinCustomize Forums

Just wondering where we are with Object Dock Plus 2.0 and Windows 7? As is OD Plus 1.9 is not working well with Windows 7 RC1 and RTM general release is right around the corner. I'm really fond of organizing my shortcuts with OD and it will be disappointing to lose it when I upgrade to "7" and drop Vista completely.

The new UI is a real improvement. Now I'm really looking forward to skins optimized for Windows 7. In particular the Windows 7 Aero skin has a very cool feature where open windows are outlined when placing the mouse pointer over the Show Desktop bar. That feature is not supported by the WB skins I've tried so far.

Impulse and Windows 7 betas in Object Desktop WinCustomize Forums

Hello! I recently installed Impulse on Windows 7 RC 1 and want to try the betas of WindowBlinds and IconPackager. Unfortunately Impulse is not offering the beta versions. There is an option in the Impulse Now tray applete to show beta versions, but enabling it didn't help. Is there something else that needs to be done? I have a current subscription to OD. TIA

I'm trying out the Nexus beta on Windows 7 at the moment. It looks great, but CPU usage is a little high when the dock is not being accessed. I tried turning off some of the effects, but that didn't help. Perhaps usage will go down as the code is optimized? Does anyone have a suggestion about how to reduce the overhead? Update: I removed the clock gadget (I had already removed the CPU and RAM gadgets) and that lowered the cpu usage. Some of the othe

I'm glad to hear that ObjectDock is being worked on. I just noticed that a Windows 7 compatible Nexus beta was released - maybe that will turn the heat up on the ObjectDock developers [e digicons]:grin:[/e] FWIW, the Nexus dock does work well on Windows 7 and looks good, but CPU usage was a little high for me. I'm looking forward to ObjectDock2.0...

Thanks for the replies. I understand that things are up in the air with Windows 7 until it goes gold. I'm just hoping other people are using it and figuring out ways around the incompatibilities. I'll experiment with UAC to see if it has anything to do with it.

Fences is quite a nice idea. Unfortunately it's not useful to me at the moment since I keep the desktop clear of icons by using ObjectDock Plus. By the way, folks who keep a lot of data on the desktop (Vs "shortcuts" to data) should make sure the desktop folder is included in their backups. By default many backup programs don't include the desktop.

I believe one reason for the negative PR is XP does not have any major shortcomings that Vista fixes. Can't change Live Folders in Icons WinCustomize Forums

Hello! I've just started having this problem. Specifically, I installed the Hybrid Nights IP and then decided to go back to the Aero Might IP. All the regular icons change, but the Live Folders will not. I've tried changing the Live Folders directly in Icon Packager and rebuilding the icon cache without success. Any suggestions appreciated...

I have to agree with all of Frogboy's points. It would be nice if the focus could be put on moving to 64 bit. Microsoft has already stated though, that Windows 7 will be released in 32 and 64 bit versions. The transition will be made eventually. Some users are already hitting the 4 gig ceiling of the 32 bit OS, and this will become more of a problem as ram on video cards increases, productivity applications demand more ram, etc. The pressure will build naturally.
