Thanks for the dream links. SpyroGyro and Twista are both cool effects, and very usable in terms of CPU usage.

Yes, can you name some that have less animation/better performance?
Dreamscapes is working nicely on my Vista install (including mpeg2), however I notice that some walls need too much CPU. For instance the rotating earth dream is fine, but the waving grass dream pushes dwm.exe to 50%. Can you recommend a few that are low impact?
No it should work fine with SP1. If you are unable to recover from an archive then mail and they may be able to provide you with whatever was the latest version of WB when your subcription expired.
Thanks, I will send an email.
Is there a particular reason why you want to install that build vs the newer 6.1 builds?
Yes, I currently do not have an active OD subscription. Do you think that 6.01.022 is incompatible with Vista SP1?
Friends, I'm trying to restore WindowBlinds 6.01.022 from an archive on Vista SP1 (x86). Stardock Central is running OK and I've used it to restore Tweak Vista and Icon Packager, but when I try to restore WindowBlinds it keeps restarting after 2% - seems to get stuck on Wbsrv.dll and then starts over. Anyone know what the cure for this is? TIA
I'm considering upgrading my video card. I currently have a 6600GT (128 megs) and Aero displays just fine (Vista graphics score 5.5). However, would I get noticeably better <a itxtdid="5915194" target="_blank" href="../../169777/page/2/#" style="border-bottom: 0.075em solid darkgreen ! important; font-weight: normal ! important; font-size: 100% ! important; text-decoration: underline ! important; padding-bottom: 1px ! important; color: darkgreen ! important; background-color: transparent
Well, this may be a little OT, but since we're talking about different video cards I'm wondering about an upgrade. I currently have a 6600GT (128 megs) and Aero displays just fine (Vista graphics score 5.5). However, would I get noticeably better desktop performance with a newer card with more ram? I'm not talking about 3d gaming. I mean WindowBlinds skin and Dreams performance (faster redraws & lower cpu utilization).
There is a program that comes with Object Desktop called IconX that I use on my XP machine. Which allows you make your icons any size you want and you can even change the fonts and the size of the fonts. There is a lot you can do with desktop icons. Just a side note only works on XP. Here's the WWW Link
Ah, IconX - I forgot. I installed it and it does exactly what I wanted - thanks!
Friends, I dual boot Vista and XP, and whenever I load XP the first thing I notice is how small the desktop icons are. I have OD (2007 sub with IP 3.2) and use WindowFX to increase the icon size to 48x48, but they are still small compared with my Vista desktop. Does IP 4 enable icon scaling in XP? If so this would be a serious incentive to renew my sub :)
I got your email and link - much obliged. Thanks also for the explanation of how the subs work in conjunction with SDC and Impulse. I'll be renewing soon I'm sure! :)
did you archive your apps?
No I didn't, but now I understand why it would have been a good idea. Is it possible to download them again without renewing my subscription? (money's a little tight at the moment).
ODNT and WB work perfectly well with no subscription. You just don't get any updates after a year.
I'm having a similar problem. My ODNT subscription expired last December. I needed to do a fresh OS install and now I can't reinstall WB6 and the other apps from Stardock Central or Impulse. I'm logging into my account OK, but the apps are not available. How does this work?
Fortunately they'll be on separate hard drives, not on the same partition. To clarify...Vista is on a 400 gig (sata) and XP is on a 200 gig (IDE), the mobo can handle both. Best of both worlds...kinda...sorta... <img id="ImageResize_Image_5" onload="ImageResizer.createOn(this);" src="http://images.stardock.
It's been four months since my first post and I'm going to say again that it is an ongoing annoyance not knowing if icon packages are Vista compatible. Most of the time the only way to find out is install the package. Then I check to see if the icons can be re-sized on the desktop and if the document folders are "live". That's not terribly hard, but it is disappointing to discover that a good looking package doesn't work. Please do the same for Icon Packages as you have done for WindowBlinds,
I'm wondering if there's a way to export ODP's settings so that all my personalizations (toolbars, shortcuts, icons, etc) can be saved and easily restored at a later date?

I currently use the Netscape 9.0 browser which is based on Firefox 2. It works perfectly well - fast and stable. The installer is only 6 megs which I don't consider "bloated". If Netscape 9.0 doesn't work well for you why not say specifically why instead of calling it a "piece of crap"?
what other enhancements other than WB you have running?
Not sure what you mean by enhancements. I use Icon Packager and Sound Packager. I don't have any other program that alters the appearance of the Windows GUI.
if yrags' idea doesn't help, try this: start/run - type "services.msc" (no quotes), right-click on "NVIDIA display driver services" and select properties. In the 'startup type' box, select "disabled. Then restart your PC. If it doesn't fix the WB problem, you can always turn it back on (just follow the same procedures, except select Automatic instead of disabled).
I disabled the service, rebooted the computer, ran services.msc again to confirm that the service w
Well, I spoke too soon. The Winlogon crash after changing a skin is back. I uninstalled the PC Tools Firewall since it was a new addition, but it had no effect.
As far as the Wbsrv.dll version...I don't have that version and everyone that has experienced the winlogon error appears to have the 2007/11/02 14:30:08 timestamp....go figure.
What version of Wbsrv.dll do you have? Maybe I have to install it manually since the uninstall/reinstall process did not replace it (?)
Uninstall it all and do a clean reinstall. You also have the wrong Wbsrv.dll version and a 6600GT.
I uninstalled and reinstalled WB 6 and am happy to say that it looks like it solved the problem. With regard to file versions though, the System Information in the WindowBlinds UI reports exactly the same file dates. And what does having a 6600GT have to do with anything? I have had the card for quite some time and ne
Well it appears that you are doing the right things with checking you computer. So the only other thing to think about is have you loaded any other customizing software that could be interfering. Better yet think back to when this first happened, was it after you changed something in the computer? We are always quick to say I didn't change anything. It could be something very minor.
Well, I should have said that of the things I've recently changed it's not clear
Right click the systray icon and UNcheck the "Enable Nview"
OK, I disabled Nview. Unfortunately that didn't help.
How do I disable Nview?
