Been there, done that, had to reformat my hard drive yesterday. I don't know how I got infected, though. The only attachments I've opened lately were cleared by McAfee.

Chroma's nice, but the skins available aren't all that impressive, and there's not a lot of them, either. Considering it costs the same as WB, I think the choice is clear, for me, anyway.
Oops... it's LilacBlinds, not XP :o /me kicks own arse for getting the name of the skin wrong
No, but I AM using Win98, which I guess is the same Anyway, it's a minor thing. I simply switched to classic, added the app I wanted, and went back to the gorgeous Lilac XP skin
I just noticed that if I try to add an app to the "do not skin" list using the "per application" tab in the WB config dialog, WB will crash if I'm running a skin. If I'm in Classic Windows mode, it'll work fine.
/me wonders if Mobius is still talking about hair Just kidding!
Well... That picture was seen by MILLIONS of people when it was part of her Rolling Stone photoshoot. A few more people drooling over it won't make a difference to her, I reckon. She was fully aware of the fact that she was being photographed and that the picture was intended for mass distribution. /me had always wanted to use "I reckon" in actual conversation.
24... Boy do I feel young all of a sudden
The absolute worst logonui on that site is a picture of Jennifer Aniston thats hows part of her butt (and that was the cover of Rolling Stone not long ago, which means PLENTY of minors saw it without ever setting virtual foot on that site) and a picture or two of women in see-thru shirts. WHile it's not something I'd let my children watch (if I had any), it's also not something I'd deem as porn. Additionally, boomgames isn't advertised as a kid-friendly site, is it? As for the
As long as he's not claiming to be the author of the walls, I'd hesitate to call him a thief... Misguided fan would be more like it
It's happened before. I always thought it was a choice on the Administrators' part.
I've only had that problem with a couple of skins since I've been using WB (over a year). What skins are you trying to install?
/me rubs his fingers, Monty Burns-style Excellent.
I usually just download them (to have a backup copy in case I need to reformat my hard drive) and then double-click on the wba file. It installs just fine.
I was JUST ABOUT to type a joke I heard, when the new Sugar Ray video came on MTV. Damn sellouts. When did they turn into Blink182's mellower, sappier cousins? My afternoon is officially ruined, unless Britney starts shaking some booty soon
Thanks for removing it. Like I said, I don't perceive any malice from Neo's intentions (he's had nothing but compliments for Alex's work), but when you put days or weeks into the creation of an original work, it's incredibly hurtful to see someone else grab control over it away from you, regardless of whether they think it's an homage or not.
I hope it never comes to that... I hope the latest string of rippers learn proper ethics without having to resort to legal procedure.
Here's the email I sent to our new buddy Chase: "You should be aware of the fact that the Visual Style called "PreLuna" by Neodescis, is a shameless rip of a skin originally created by Johanne "Alexandrie" Cheiné. Neo has admitted to this several times before. Ms. Cheiné is a very respected member of the digital art community, and as such, this violation of her intellectual property will not be tolerated. Please, do the right thing and remove the offending piece. I don't believe that th
Alexandrie, I'm sorry this keeps happening I've emailed this Chase guy, though after Jafo's masterpiece I doubt it's necessary
I guess we'll all end up having to make sure everything's kosher and properly copyright our work. Apparently the "Honor system" can't be trusted anymore :/
Where can I contact the site to let them know they're hosting a ripped skin?
The site seems to be down right now. Who is the auteur of the rip this time?
The site should be back to normal sometime between this week and the next, according to what I've read.
WC's servers are in the process of changing locations. Certain sections of the site have had to be taken down temporarily to ease the bandwidth load.
The original files are in the c:\windows\web folder. The image that appears in the standard folder is called wvleft.bmp, the one that appears when you open the Windows folder is called wvlogo.gif, and the line that appears below the folder name in the standard folders is called wvline.gif. Warning: The files don't seem to show up when you look for them by normal means. Use a file viewer to find them. btw, Desktop Architect has Webview items for Win98, Me, and 2000. So if you c
