Unfortunately, most employers want that little piece of paper hanging on your wall that vouches for the education part. I have learned that first hand, my dear. They all want that silly piece of paper. Nevermind that I actually know what I'm doing. From expirence, not school. College. That requires me to actually stay in one place for a while. Not that I can't do it. But I've always had the option of packing up and zooming down the road when ever I've wanted. If I'm going to sc

Alpacas. Aren't they like llamas? Or sheep? The only way I know that, is from watching the West Wing. The new secretary for the President bought some Alpacas. He thought she was bizarre. Made for a funny episode though! I'm with ya Trinitie. Being fun is definately better. I highly recommend it! But sometimes. You need to be smart. "You can get by on charm for 15 minutes, after that, you better know something." No joy with calling Office Max. Damn. I'll try again lat

"In the communities you may have built or take part in, what technical features do you find to be a must? What sort of social rules to you think are necessary to pull in a more mature base? What sort of content keeps you coming back for more? What communities have you found to be very successful, what ones have you seen that failed miserably, descending in a fiery ball of death?" I don't build them, I just participate. On that expirence, here's what I personally like to see in a "commun

I've decided I want to improve my knowledge base. It occurs to me sometimes, that I am not stupid, nor am I really smart. I've been described as "street smart" which is a compliment. I've been told I have a wide variety of subjects that I know little bits about, which is good for conversations with a wide cross section of people. But I feel there is always room for improvement. Now. How do I do that? School is out of the question. The mone

Bless you! That's inventive. But if it doesn't work, you could always try a nice note. Or, since you said they leave it outside for extended periods of time, call the animal control people. People will tend to curb their bad behaviors if they know someone is watching. Good luck with your dog problem. Mine seems to be cleared for the moment. I haven't heard the dog since the incident. But it's only been a day and a half. We'll see if it holds. :)

It's been four days since I've had a chance to sit down at my computer. I haven't had time. Today, I turned it on, and captured some episodes off my DVR while I ran around and cleaned the house. Tomorrow I have a few things to do. For a couple days, I thought we might be getting into spring. I know it's on it's way. The days are getting longer.

Tuesday night is fun for me. I'm weird. This. You know, or have guessed. I come home from work, scoot about the house, get something for dinner and settle in to watch West Wing on Bravo, then Gilmore Girls. Then 24. However, tonight, I was interrupted during all 3 shows. First, a friend of our house-mate Spencer's came over. Asked for my assistance with Spencer's birthday gift. I was happy to do it. So much for West Wing. Then, he came back after getting some supplies and we

I already know that some days, she considers doing that herself. He is a teenager. He's been slipping a little in school, and usual teenage stuff. She gets the "mom" face and starts sentences with the phrase.. "One of these days...." :) It's the parent curse. "I hope you have children that act just like you do!"

Days off. A beautiful thing. Most of us, use the time to run errands and clean the house. Not me. I do that on one of my short days, so on my day off I can do absolutely nothing. But. I always end up doing something on my day off. Generally, something I had no intentions of getting into. Like this past weekend. Sunday is my best day off. I usually spend the whole day toying around with my little projects or writing. Then veg on the couch, watch Charmed and eat ice cream.

Yeah. I know where Fort Drum is. I live in Ithaca NY. Home to Cornell college and educated idiots. :) Thanks for reading my stuff. I enjoy checking out yours. We'll have to compare notes sometime. Take care of you Ali

I beg for help. No major boom happened. I set up limited accounts for each member of my family. After the teenager was downloading and got a virus from Boo only knows where. I went to one of the accounts to set up what my honey would need and have discovered the inability to get to the internet. Have I done something wrong? I have searched Microsofts site and found no real answers. Either that, or I am not wording the question right. How do I

Guru friend is ...talkative. No real sense of "flow of conversation". He's very excitable. He just rambles along. Guru friend is just that. A friend. Nothing more. Yeah...I should start writing in haiku format. I don't know why I've been writing like that lately. Sorry if I drove you crazy.

Sometimes. I just kinda wanna smack people. The teenager. My step-son of sorts. Puttering on my computer, downloaded something that had a virus. Very possibly the Doomsday virus. Lucky. We caught on that something was a miss right off the bat. I found several things that didn't' look right. Fixed it. Called my guru in and cleared the rest. Still. I want to smack the teenager. More than that, I want to smack his father. I gave explicit instructions.

I often wonder how some people manage to make it through the day without seriously injuring themselves or someone else..... Amazing, isn't it? Actually, it's amazing that they don't injure themselves. Other people get hurt all the time trying to avoid the stupid people. Just today, I

Tonight. Was weird. No other word for it. Just weird. Karaoke at Penny's is usually pretty swinging, but tonight I had an avalanche of singers. So much so, I played 45 minutes over. It was also the boss's b-day. His wife was the one who ended up trashed. She sang. She never does that. It was funny. I got blamed for someone straightening their life out. No joke. He was serious when he said it was my fault he paid off his debt and started writing again

As some of you know, I'm a bartender during the days. Today, one of my older regulars comes in. Alex. WW II vet. Pretty fiesty for his age. And five minutes into a conversation, he asks if I've heard of the Mass ruling on gay marriage. Of course, he thinks it's wrong. I smiled softly at him and asked one question. "Are you gay?" he sputtered for a moment, then said no. "What does it matter to you then if they get married or not." "It's just wrong." "So wa

Ah. Automation. The governments answer to making life easier. Easier for whom? Me? Not so much. I'm currently on hold with the DMV. Crappy muzak. A recorded message every 4 minutes. I don't deal with the DMV unless I have to. Today. I have to. Grrr. To top this off. I sent my car in to the shop. My new to me car. Because it sat for so long, some things need to be done to it. I get that. But I've got a feeling, they're blowing smoke at me ab

Holy smokes Frog! Ya know what they say though, a neat desk is a sure sign of a sick mind! :) Aha, Nicky...I see, you didn't want your floor to smell like bubble bath! Wise parent! I had quite the collection myself at one time. My daughter liked everything. I think it's just the kid thing, you hang on to something until it gets taken or you find something else to drag around with you. :)

Uh-oh Nicky! Jeremy's got an idea! Take cover! Most of the items on your desk sound normal enough. But what's the bubble bath stuff doing there? Is it in a really cool bottle? Or did your child place it there and it's just been keeping you company ever since? :) I'm curious. I can't wait for spring either! Winter is hanging on and shows no signs of letting go. I live in Upstate NY. South of Syracuse. If you've been watching the news, a town north of Syracuse ma
