Would also like to see a new build for XP... one that actually uses all PNG files so that I can restart my Love Hina logonstudio project. I never got around to finishing that because I could not make the skin the way I wanted it to.

I'd try AOL's IM out on Vista but... I use gaim. It's simple, free, has no ads, can connect to many IM networks, and has tabbed conversation windows. It's been so long since I last used AOL's AIM software. There's just nothing fancy with AIM that would make me go "Woah, cool!"

So now my brand new Asus MB is obsolete now. When will it end? Why would a PCI express sound card be better than a regular PCI card? They will sound exactly the same!! Anything to make people run out and buy more useless crap for their computer I guess. Well unless the primary hardware components are differ

The main problem right now is adoption and migration. There are so many PCI-based cards out there ranging from USB/FireWire controllers to TV tuners to audio cards and even ultra-low-end graphic cards. There's already a PCI Express x1 graphics card based on the ATI chip. But it's agonizing to see that there's hardly any other devices using the PCI Express bus. Things like TV tuners and audio cards are two components that I want on my next system I

Okay, here's a FAQ for ya... Due to DreamScene being a Windows Ultimate kind of thing, how do content authors preview this on other versions of Vista? We all know that they (MS) want these things to be available only to Ultimate users. But there are always aspiring artists and content creator from all versions of Windows. What keeps these things exclusive and how will authors preview their work on their machines?

I've their 7900GT card. And I must tell you... this card is potent. Battlefield 2 in 1280x960 w/ 4xAA, Guild Wars at 1600x1200 and 4xAA, FlatOut 2 in 1280x960... the sucker will run virtually everything. If there's a prize that you need to aim for to win, make it this card. The card is very good stuff.

No wired?! Gotta be. Well the most we know is that they tout wireless networking. Personally this is all fine and dandy but only at the most minimal level possible. I'm glad that we're able to hook this little baby up to the network with the potential of having multiplayer games work over the 'net. Howev

US$300 for 30GB of media storage, has FM/radio, wi-fi sharing w/ other Zune players... Looks good. I'll be part of the wait-and-see market. I've a 3G iPod. Gonna be really hard to tear me away from it now. I've no interest in the 5G series. Movies from iTunes? One would think that the failure of the PSP movies would be any indication that it's not really all that worth it. Anybody knows what kind of video codec is being used in the Zun

Here's what I tallied up... Well it's about time! One of these days I'll install this little baby and give it a test drive. I just hope it doesn't screw up my entire Battlefield 2 setup (using a mounted mini-image just so I don't have to leave the disc in drive all the time).

FINALLY! I've been waiting for a while for this. Signed up ODNT for a few things: WindowBlinds, ObjectBar, and IconPackager. I can personally say now that I've finally got my year's worth. Now if we can just get LogonStudio 2.0 ... *hint-hint*

Another vote for LogonStudio. I also have heard about talks of an update to the ol' app and I'm hoping that it'll become reality rather than something to stir up interests. The limitations with the current/old version is prohibiting me from finishing one of my personal project.

I'm sure those who have used a NVIDIA drivers know that their control panel system is rock solid and straightforward. Having heard of the new 90 series featuring a new control panel, I figure I'd give it a go since the 91.31 release is a non-beta release. Then again, since when has anything been a non-beta? So I installed the drivers, reset my resolution on both monitors, and the appropriate refresh rate. Then I proceeded to tinker around the new control panel. Suddenly I am witne

For instance, the new Aero glass UI isn't fully hardware accelerated from what we can tell. Resizing windows or doing anything particularly intensive on the screen eats up a lot of CPU. CPU? It's supposed to be using the video card (WindowBlinds 5's performance gains don't eat up all your CPU on XP because it's using the GPU in

I'm on the opposite boat with the Autohide. It doesn't work well for me. It's probably due to me having a multi-monitor setup. Can anyone else confirm whether this also happens on your end? Another issue possibly related is where it hides. I cannot get it to autohide on the second monitor and the hide function seem to go behind my Taskbar and at the absolute top edge. Trying to move it anywhere else seem to only make it go weird on me.

I wanna chime in on this issue here since it got posted up here. The RIAA has gone off the deep end and its image is so stained, so tainted, so filthy that no amount of making up will ever clean it up. There's just no point in abiding to whatever the RIAA wants the consumer wishes to do with their legally purchased music. Let's disect the 'fair use' mentality for a bit. As mentioned, you can make a copy of a song from an LP reco

Those who actively use P2P networks such as BitTorrent may have noticed news getting around of the banning of BitComet, one of the handful of popular BitTorrent clients out there. But now it seems the way BitComet functions has gotten a lot of criticisms over how it handles the Private flag on torrent files. And because of how it mishandles this flag, the community is stepping up to ban BitComet on a variety of community and private trackers. Now the news ha

Having viewed this piece here , it got me to wondering if this is real: "There's builds of LogonStudio 2 floating around." As we all know, the last public build of LogonStudio has limits and issues yet to be resolved. It'd be nice to have a LogonStudio 2 be in the works. Is it real? And when can we expect this to be released? And what's Stardock's plans with it?

I'd like to mention that even though this driver release has support for dual-core, this release does NOT come with Control Panel anymore. The last version to come with Control Panel is 5.10. So if you're against .NET Framework, you're half screwed there. I hear ATi Tool is an alternative but I have yet to test this. Also note that you're going to need at LEAST 56MB or so to install Catalyst Control Center. That's my base install and I ha

I ran into some sort of overlay problem some time ago when I tried to view DVD movies. Turns out that MPC works well (when using the correct video output) but PowerDVD doesn't. I have tried to see if there's a setting in MPC to reproduce the problem but was unsuccessful. I had a momentary workaround before but that was just for the moment. So it's not likely to be a permanent workaround or a good fix. I dunno how effective MPC is when it

Erg... Not sure if I fully understand that. I open up the Start Menu/Panel, and then I click on anything skinned by WB (ie window titlebar or borders), it closes up the Start menu. Then I bring it back up and the problem persists. If this is what you meant, then it seems I'm bugged. Does MS have a hotfix for this? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/icons/wc.gif" border=0 alt="Posted v
