It would be cool if there was a slight chance that after picking the good choice in an event, an unexpected bonus would be given. The only event from the game I can think of right now is the one with the pre-industrial race that lives on the planet you are colonizing, and the good option has you stay away from their lands and leave them alone(I don't remember if this penalizes PQ or what). What could then happen is that there is a chance that after yo

I don't know if it is anti-americanism as much as its just basic human nature with an anti-Bush post thrown in for good(annoying) measure. The problem here is, neither side is willing to admit anything(just like any people in any fight) and instead just throw an insult back. That's all this is, its happening on both sides here. I live not too far from the border with Canada. I'm friends with some people who moved here from Canada a few years back...gue

If Saddam didn't have WMD's, why did he kick weapons inspectors out for so long? Why did he put such restrictions on weapons inspectors when he would let them in? If you knew that the most powerful nation in the world was about to invade you, wouldn't you prevent some evidence of having disarmed? I'm sorry, I do believe that WMD's were not the best reason we had for attacking, but just because we haven't found any, doesnt mean that they aren't the

Since I already have a blog where I ramble, and I normally just post new articles on the forums, I don't know if I am going to mess with this blog. I may just start my articles here, I'm not exactly sure how that works though.

Jeremy, I personally believe both are important. Theological differences because it promotes understanding of each other, and effects on history because it helps to link historical events and hopefully allow linking to some things occuring today.

There is an important and common misconception in the US that the freedom of religion guaranteed to us under the first ammendment is actually a freedom from religion. Schools in this country were once quite Christian, too Christian. I'm not here to argue that, over the years that was taken out of schools. Once it was gone, the people against religion tried to further remove any discussion or mention of religion in school. Teac

I'm seriously in disbelief. All I've been seeing here is that Iraq is proof Americans only care about themselves and not the lives of others. Just because an unfortunate number of Iraqi civilians die in the war doesn't mean we don't care about them. I wish we had the numbers of civilians killed by Saddam each year, and how many have died as a result of the war. I also wish people would look at how the general situation is better now than it was before

Ian, you say that neo-fascists or fascists in general do what they do because they think its right? Doesn't that make everyone, especially you, fascist? If we don't do what we think is right, what do we do? First of all, I do believe in global warming, but we don't know how bad it will be. If people want to question the severity of global warming, or if the warming could be natural, they shouldn't be attacked. It has to be admitted that we st

Ahhhhhhhhhh hypocrisy.....I love how easy it is to criticize others without looking at yourself. I'm not going to fully respond to this for fear of my response. I just want to say that the UN isn't irrelevant, or we wouldn't talk about it all the time. The UN isn't the perfect organization so many people seem to picture it as. The recent discovery of the amount of corruption in the UN in regards to Oil for Food shows that is isn't any better than the r

I really quit reading this article after Deference said something about how they proved Iraq had disarmed. "When it was discovered that the Iraqi government had destroyed all their “stockpiles” " I'm sorry I guess I missed that news story. The rest I've skimmed seems to be a battle going nowhere. I guess all I can say is has ignoring terrorists stopped terrorism? Haven't we been accusing the Bush administration of ignoring i

I agree with you Deference, but how will increasing the minimum wage keep jobs in the US? It won't. Unfortunately, in this global economy, we can't expect to keep demanding higher wages and have companies gladly give them without outsourcing jobs. Until the general global economy is better, I don't see how we can stop this from happening. Even think about a caring company who pays their workers plenty and employs mostly people from the US. That company

If people look at Captain Ghanja there and think he is representative of the right( or I guess left in his mind) I can see why they dislike us. I actually started laughing while reading that paragraph. I'm just curious Deference what is wrong with "Fox and Co's" debates? Unless you are talking about their opinion shows(O'reilly and Hannity) which do go overboard. I find their regular debates to actually be quite fair though......more than s

Phobiagirl, thats not the US attacking them, thats stupid neighbors. I've heard of so many stories where stupid people do stupid things like taking her to court over her Australian flag. It's sad. I do agree with the point though, we do often forget those that support us, but then, don't most countries?

I can't wait to play the beta. I've seen a few places talk about it recently, and its getting me more excited. I don't see this game doing better than GalCiv but I really hope it does good. I'm always pulling for you Stardock......I have to think you and Blizzard are my favorite companies. I'm serious, whenever I see someone suggest Galciv because its one of the greatest strategy games in years it puts a smile on my face. I think its because I'm a st

Lets all agree Iraq had little to do with terror. Lets all remember though that both parties voted for the war......and now one of them has decided that they've always been against it. I'm sick of war arguments, because people do have good arguments both ways....I think the anti-war people who actually have an argument probably have a better argument than pro-war people. I'm not pro-war because of WMD's(even though I always have to put this in that I

Wahkonta, your links didn't work. I like to say good job to O G on a good article. The only thing I didn't get was that you seemed to be against everything. You seemed to be against us being there(which I totally understand) but you also seemed to be against a US turnover to a government we support. So you just want us to pull out? If we just pull out, then we really did waste all the lives of American soldiers who died, and of the Iraqis who died. If

I just want to say that according to the one year later things ABC and the BBC did, most Iraqis want the US out, but don't want us to leave yet. They understand why we are still there and realize we are trying to provide some kind of security. Some Iraqis just don't seem to get past the wanting the US out part and unfortunately it is costing us lives.

Do you really think we will invade anymore countries anytime soon after the outcry of the Iraq war? Presidents make decisions based on public opinion, even Bush. I think all world leaders screw up and lie about it....its called being in politics.

20 Replies 8,183 Views

So are you suggesting we just pull out? Bush is trying his best to get out but without letting Iraq crumble after we believe. You can try and argue this, but why would it be any different? The longer he stays in the less support he gets, and if the new Iraq is not a democracy it again hurts him and this country. If we pull out now we break promises we made to the Iraqi people and probably end up making the world hate us more. Not only did we invade Ira
