I wondered about that too, thought perhaps that was part of the game, to "hack" into that initial key code. Look in the game directory in the program files folder. I do not recall the exact path (on different computer now), but should be something like: c:Program Files/Stardock/Totalgaming.net/ ... game name ... There is a jpeg im

Did you put your newer video card back in after the reinstall? My guess (and HG_Eliminator's too) is that it will work fine... at least until you need to reinstall.

I had a problem like that sometime ago, it turned out it was my PCI nvidia card. I don't recall the model number, but there were other video card manufactures and models that had similar problems. Every time I needed to reinstall XP I had to swap out the video card with an old one. Once installed, I could plug my nvidia card back in and the machine would work great. This may not solve your problem and I can not locate the link I f

To try to answer your last question: Right now 90% of the approximately 6 billion people only live on 10% of the earth's land surface. When the ocean area is factored in, along with Antartica, the Earth can likely hold far more. We already produce more food on far less land than we did 100 years ago, so it would not be outside of the realm of possibility that humans will continue to increase pro

Hi Henry, You might try the UBIsoft website, especially if you have the retail boxed version of the game. You can get the 1.02 retail patch here: Link I hope this helps.

Welcome to the game! If you have GalCiv DE (which I assume you mean the Delux Edition), it should have the Altairan Prophesy expansion included. I have a subscription to Totalgaming.net and recieve all of those games listed, and any new games that are released for the period of my subscription (1 year). Other than that, if you search the totalgaming forums, you should find something about the market strategy they are employing.

I do not work for Stardock, so I can not address all of your concerns specifically, but as an owner of the game (through the totalgaming.net subsrciption, not retail), I have not had any trouble saving and start off again from the last position. Nor have I had any of the other problems you mention, however, if you do a forum search on the political machine website you might find resolutions to the other issues you are having (I do not know this for ce

Then why essentially critisize his actions?(Other than the affair) I do not think I was negatively attacking Clinton's response to the Embassy bombings, simply making a statement on the unfortunate results of the attack (i.e. Bin Laden was not killed or caught). Sadly, any invasion, however small, woul

Yes I am sure that is what they would prefer as well however that quote was taken from an article to prove that democrats have a logical plan, and I am sure they'd rather not be dhot at or bombed at all. DNCdude, what article are you refering to that "proves" democrats have a logical plan, the about.com

Do you think an invasion plan of Afghanistan in '98 would have passed? Whoman69, I think it would have been very difficult to pass an invasion of Afgahnistan by not only the rest of the world, but also many people in the U.S. especially with the Clinton/Lewinsky scandle in full swing. I think Clinton

Hi trcanberra. I realize you found a way to get it to run, but I thought I would post the procedure I used for anyone else who can not get Frontline Command to run from the start menu icon. Hopefully Brad and company will be able to correct this for later users. There appears to have been a small error during the packaging of the software for SDC. Trcanberra is correct, the problem is simply the shortcut is pointing to the wrong location, b

I downloaded and installed it last night. The only problem I had was the game launch icon in the start menu was not functioning. I went into the game's bin folder and ran it from there... using launch.exe I think. The game ran fine after that. Perhaps the powers that be can fix this in the SDC install routine. (Or perhaps I downloaded it a bit too early. <img src="http://images.stardockcentral.net/image

I know, it is a bit confusing looking at the GalCiv box. :) Some one will correct me if I am wrong, but I will take a stab at it based on my GalCiv box: Stardock: Developed it (distributes and supports it electronically). Strategy First: Published the boxed version (burned CDs, packaged, printed manual, etc...). Infogrammes (now Atari): Distributed the boxed version (distribution to retailers). I might have mixed up SF and Atari, but it looks right. Beyond that, I thin
like where did all these peeps get the same basic idea for thier religion if the world wasnt connected thousands of years ago? like why is there always three main deities in most ancient religions?
I am going to dust off my Anthropology/Archaeology degree for this one, so please pardon the roughness and simplicity as much of my knowledge is near 10 years old and there is a lot of new research being done as we type. :) Oral tradition can explain a lot of simular

Hmm.. banning contraceptives would make a great event mod... To answer your question, you are on the right track, happy populations with low taxes and access to health care, news networks, etc, procreate faster. It takes practice, tweak the sliders early on in the game adjusting the tax level. I do not believe the aliens have a distinct advantage either way, aside from being able to manage their tax, income and spending sliders better (I often forget to do so during a turn).

:) Sollog, now there's an authority. :notsure: Nothing new, I saw that video plastered all over the SCI-FI channel in promo spots. The same thing could be accomplished with a 3D modeler and Adobe Premiere. In fact, my untrained eye could tell the flying disk was composited over the video after viewing multiple times. The fact that the video is still being hosted on the SCI-FI channel website should say something about it's authenticity. Obviously, It is a commercial for the SCI-FI
Ascendancy was the first strategy game with full 3d map.
If memory serves, MOO1 was played on a 3-D map. Sure, you could not rotate it and zoom in and out, but the star coordinates were placed in a 3-D "space". I recall stars next to my home system that took longer to get to than stars that appeared to be further away. I concur with your assement of Ascendancy... atleast I only paid $2 for it. As for MOO3, Amazon eventually paid me $2 to buy it from them, so

There are a lot of stories floating around about the world trade center, most are out right false like Jews being told to stay away from the WTC on that day http://www.snopes.com/rumors/israel.htm . Some are likely false, like the cheating husband who told his frantic wife he was at work in the WTC while the attacks, unknown to him were taking place http://www.snopes.com/rumors/adultery.htm . Others, like the stock shorting story are true, according to this website that tracks urban legends of
