The reason I'd like the DX stand alone objects is because I run Litestep, and I often try using DX, and Litestep together, but it's just a total pain in the ass with them fighting over right click menus, and z-order issues. I wish I could turn a couple of my DX objects into stand alone programs, but I couldn't even begin to think about $500. This is like taunting us users that don't have our own companies. Now I have to try and come up with a business plan, and everything. How unfair is that?

Actually I was hoping more for a script, so that I could just click it to update my screenshot on the web. There's and old Litestep module (rymshot) that does it, but it doesn't quite work right for me.

Does anyone know of a program, or script that will: 1. Take a screenshot 2. write it to a jpg, gif, or png (being able to choose would be nice) 3. create a coresponding thumbnail image (if desired) 4. optionally upload it to the web. The industry is changing, and huge record companies won't be needed for much longer to get bands heard. This is a good thing. What I'd like to see would be an update on the systray, and taskbar functionality. It would be nice to see that Longhorn skin with a vertical taskbar, and some systray filtering. I think the old 'modules' where great when DX was newer, but I was really hoping to see more flexibility in them. they haven't grown like the rest of the great stuff packed into DX2.

I believe that we should all boycott .gifs, and .jpegs, and use only the .png format (understanding of course that this is not even close to what you are saying. Wow, I don't know Linux, but this review definitely make Xandros sound easy. I tried Linux Mandrake once, but as a noob without any support, I found it difficult to get started, so I just took it off my machine. (I was pretty happy with Win 2K at the time, mostly just curious about Linux.) I think I might have to try this one at some point in the future.

Unfortunately I've heard that we (Canada) does have troops in Iraq. Apparently any tropps that were already affiliated with US, or British units were allowed to stay with those units when they shipped out. I don't know if this story is true, but I desperately hope that it is. It's Beautiful!

Maybe I'll try reinstalling it again, and I'll get some screenshots when I have some extra time. As for the ObjectBar crash, it wasn't a coincidence. I've had ObjectBar running since it was just a baby on this machine, and not had problems, once I uninstalled WindowBlinds I haven't had a problem with it again. The crash happened just after I applied a theme for the first time with the new WB build. after that, it was fine.

ok, is it just me? I installed the WindowBlinds 3.96 with component manager on my machine (which is running WinXP), and it was horrible. Buttons were all corrupt, and it crashed ObjectBar right off the bat. I also noticed that the general prefernce tab in the new interface doesn't have an apply button (for when I tried to enable explorer backgrounds.) I love OD(2 years), and WindowBlinds(3 years), but this looks like it should still be an alpha build to me. <img src="http://images.sta

Ok, I'm trying to make my first ObjectBar them from scratch, and I'm stuck right away. How on Earth do I move a bar to where I want it? (i.e docked along the bottom of another bar (so that they are kinda connected.) as in a horizontal shortcut menu, with a taskbar docked underneath it. I'm afraid I can't even really begin without knowing this, and I can't seem t figure it out.

I agree with Strad about the WB skins. It's difficult sifting through the nasty ones. Even the ratings don't help much. I've seen really ugly skins with a high rating. As for the wallpapers. I for one appreciate the moderation. Some sites are crammed with walls of chicks in bikinis. (distasteful, and anoying) or sites that really need a Britney (sp?) Spears wallpaper section. Moderation is good.

So since this version is just out for Windows XP users so far does that mean that we're actually going to see a new Windows XP style icon for the .exe? I tihnk it's kind of funny how Object Desktop is all about cutting edge customization, but the programs themselves, and the OD icon are all still old school. Tee hee.
