There is a maximum file size set for uploads, but I don't know off-hand what it's set at for dreams. The developer responsible for the upload system is gone for the day, so i can't check on that/have it changed. I'll get on this first thing tomorrow though and hopefully get a resolution for you. Sorry for the trouble TMB! -Mike

Please keep a civil tone when addressing other users. This forum is open to all, and since it is the Internet category, it is not limited to customization topic strictly. It is not up to individual users to police these forums or tell other users whether or not they should post or whether or not they belong. That is a call left to Stardock site administrators. If you have a problem with a post or a comment, use the Report feature and we will see it and address it if we

We have a number of safeguards in place to ensure voting is fair. We will have full audit trails on all voting and will be keeping a close eye on things for attempts at voter fraud. We also flipped the judging around this year because in the past the finalists selected by popular vote weren't necessarily the best they could have been. While we squashed vote fraud, we couldn't help it if a user promoted their skin well and got 10,000 people to vote for them (a legit method).&nbs

Today is the launch of the 2008 GUI Championships! After many months of hard work rounding up sponsors, and building a completely new competition website, we are almost ready to go! As I type this, the finishing touches are being put on the GUI Champs site, which includes a completely new uploading system (much better than the current WC one). We're still on track for a si

Last night, Blair Fraser of Ironclad Games was on G4's X-Play talking up the upcoming Sins of a Solar Empire microexpansion; Entrenchment. On the October 9th episode, they show off the first of three new Starbases, massive defensive platforms that will decimate all but the largest, most powerful fleets. Watch the video below to get all of the details, and a peek at the game in action. <param name=
An interesting fact - the latest official patch is not the last, there are community patches well above that, and those are the ones that really fix the game. I wonder, will impulse support the community patches or just the official ones?
Impulse will only distribute official patches, sorry.

Ok, I just checked, here is the deal about THQ availability: AVAILABLE WORLD-WIDE!!! That's right, it doesn't matter where on the globe you reside, so long as you have a payment method we accept, you can get your hands on all of the super-awesome THQ titles coming up on Impulse (listed above). The only catch. We do have regional pricin
On Steam THQ games are not available in Australia, New Zealand and possibly other places. Will that still be the case on Impulse?
I wasn't responding to your comment, it was the one before it about DRM issues I was talking about in my last comment. But don't worry, I wasn't ignoring your post, I just didn't have the information to reply. I do know we are limited in what regions we can sell to, but I'm not 100% sure what those are at the moment. I try t

Just so everyone knows, the THQ games will not have their original DRM protections. We will instead be using Impulse to protect the installations. So yay! :) Login systems for titles like Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts will still be present since those are part of the game itself, and not 3rd-party copy-protection.

This week may have been a little bit slow for new releases, but that’s because we’ve been working furiously on great new things like the THQ library of games, upcoming updates for Impulse, a store visual reorganization and more! Before we get into the releases & updates, I have a sneak-peak of some upcoming Impulse features, and a few new games we now

What to do with your old XP Home system? Toss some extra hard drives in the sucker, stick it in a corner somewhere and use it as a home fileserver.

64-bit is really an issue of RAM. If you have less than 4 GB of RAM, you won't gain much from a 64-bit OS. But at 4 GB and above, you don't even want to consider 32-bit as you'll be wasting that RAM. Quad vs Dual Core? Um, to the best of my knowledge, Windows itself does not really require or significantly benefit from 2 vs 4 cores. At least there's no difference between 64 and 32 bit. General rule of thumb on hardware: buy the best you can comfortably af

I switched to 64-bit at home about two weeks ago now and it's just been a great experience. Memory issues are a thing of the past. Now my only realistic limit is how much memory I can fit in the box. Generally speaking 32-bit apps work fine with 64-bit. You only see problems with apps that integrate tightly with your system such as anti-virus and security applications. For example, I can't use Eset's NOD32 v3 because it does not support 64-bit yet. I have
How long do we have to wait till we can upload to WinC, once we uploaded our entry to the GUIC site? Do we have to wait until after the competition is over?
You must submit to the GUI Champs FIRST. Once the entry is posted to the GUIC site you are welcome to post it to other sites as you wish. We just ask that you make mention that it is a GUIC entry and provide a link back to the contest site. CPU usage will be looked at in terms of Most Usable, and will likely play a part in Best Overall Dream events. Dynamic Dreams are allowed if you can figure out how to do it without a SDK. Stardock Employees are not permitted to compete in the 2008 GUI Champs. This is limited to full-time employees of the company. Artists who do contract work for Stardock are free to enter as they are not employees of the company. Employees of sponsors are also not per

Alright, we're about two weeks away from the start of the 2008 GUI Championships and the launch of the brand new GUI Champs website . We're seeing teams form up, and I know some of you out there have been working very hard on your entries for months now. With the contest so close though, I wanted to make sure that everyone was clear on the rules, the technical requ

I didn't get much gaming time in this weekend as I was out at the Michigan Renaissance Festival most of the day Saturday, and recovering most of Sunday. What gaming I did manage to get in: Beat the last level of Crysis (original) Played some Sid Meier's Colonization, got my butt kicked by Native Americans. I'm not sure what I'll play this week/coming weekend though. Trying to watch my gaming budget a bit more closely now.
