P icardsm , I had a similar problem when I upgraded to Windows 7. IP 4 would not run on my machine. I could also see the beta for IP 5 but could not install it even though I purchased IP4. Because o

Hi Warren, You can copy the skins and cursors from your old notebook to a DVD, an external hard drive or onto a thumb drive (USB) and then copy them to your new notebook. In case you don't know the path, go to: Computer (C:\)\Users\ Public\ Public Documents\Stardock\Window Blinds (for Vista) and you will see all of the different skins there. Copy and paste them to the thumb drive or external hard drive or burn them to a DVD. C

It's the same here. LOVE Windows 7! It's rock solid, stable, clean, polished and works right out of the box. Windows 7 is awesome. I hope we get a new version of the Boot software soon though. I really like that program. WB 7 and Skin Studio 7 work beautifully and I've had fun playing around with both of them. Logon Studio works well too. I'm glad I ordered Windows 7 while it was half price. That was a great deal but I would gladly have pa

CarGuy1 has a great idea so I would try that first. Otherwise, I would try the driver for Vista (assuming you were running that before) as Windows 7 is supposed to be using the same drivers. As for Stardock, Neil is about as tech savvy as anyone can be but he can't solve what appears to be a hardware issue. Good luck and hope the Vista driver or built-in Windows 7 driver works. If you need to update or roll back the driver, you can do that by going to

Thanks, DaveBax. I do not like updates that load like that. Try having Java running an update at the same time as an unschedule Windows update. What a mess I had from that! Sooo hope you are right and Impulse updates won't cause a problem. I don't remember them running automatically like that in the past.

Hi Neil, When I opened Impulse it started downloading an update all on it's own. It went okay but in the past I've some "interesting" things happen when two updates tried to run at the same time. Will Impulse normally run on it's own all the time or was that just a "one time" thing? I did notice that the "Updates" button and the missing buttons at the top of the screen are back now. Just don't want a repeat of what happened when Windows Update started at the sa

Did you verify the Impulse installation? If not, it may not have installed correctly. Did you install Fences using Impulse? If not, I am not sure why Impulse would be needed but it is normally used for all installations. If Impulse installed correctly, you should be able to remove Fences with Impulse simply by right clicking on it and selecting Uninstall. If not, you should be able to remove both progams through the normal add/remove programs or program

Hi Ryoken, If you can do it, I highly recommend that you purchase Object Desktop Ultimate. If you do, you will get tons of goodies and a free upgrade to the new streamlined version of Object Desktop when it comes out in December. You will also get a second year of the new Object Desktop for free which is a good deal. When the new version comes out, there will be only one version instead of two like there is now. To get the deal though you need to buy

Hi Neil, I am still having a minor issue with taskbar transparency as well - at least with Diamond. It works under the default setting and on full transparency. Any other setting results in a completely transparent notification area even though the rest of the taskbar is set for less transparency. I did notice that I have to run Skin Studio 7 separately but I can work around that. Can't seem to get around the transparency issue though and I've tried it with a c

Just purchased Object Desktop Ultimate. I really like the direction Stardock is taking with it and that extra year made it a great value. Window Blinds 7 is GREAT! I was having a problem with Diamond for awhile but it's working fine now. I am playing with some of the other programs too but Window Blinds and Skin Studio are still my favorites and now I get to play with the latest Skin Studio beta too. So far no issues with it at all.

When I had Vista, I seemed to spend an awful lot of time under the hood. I like the Aero effect, transparency, etc. but it always seemed just a little buggy. Now that I have Windows 7, it's like coming home. As you said, polished and smooth but also rock solid and no blue screens of death like I got with Vista at first. I have Windows Home Premium so no XP mode but Windows 7 pulls no bones about compatibility. It stops you from installing software that will cause

Is Boot Skin Vista compatible with Windows 7? I know it's not supported but I sure do miss it now that I have Windows 7. If it isn't compatible, will there be a version of Boot Skin specifically for Windows 7? Would LOVE to see it added to Object Desktop.

Thanks! Duh! I forgot that I reinstalled Impulse. I had pre-releases checked before but forgot to look at that after I reinstalled it. Thanks again. Loving Windows 7.

I am having the same problem. Windows 7 will not allow WB 6 to install and there is no link showing on Impulse to download WB7. Windows 7 states clearly that WB 6 is not compatible. Does anyone have a solution?

Hi Everyone, I just installed the latest WB7 update and I have a minor problem. Here is a link to the screen shot so you can see what I'm talking about. Has anyone else experienced this? As you can see from the screen shot, the right side of the task bar is flat while the rest is normal. I've tried rebooting, cold boot, etc. and played with the blur. With blur enabled (don't normally use it) the taskbar seems to be okay but when I set it for high (almost

AWESOME! I don't have Object Desktop for all of the reasons you named. I don't care for My Colors and pre-set themes. I love Window Blinds and Skin Studio and would love to see those both as part of Object Desktop. Can't wait to see the changes you are proposing! I love the original concept of improving Windows. I think the themes, My Colors, etc. have a place for those who enjoy using them but I uninstalled My Colors because I prefer to things my way.

Don't know about a final release date but WB 7 is working very well in beta 2. We had a couple of issues last week but Neil fixed them quickly. All in all, WB 7 runs pretty smooth so, hopefully, it won't be too much longer as Windows 7 will be released on 10/26 which I am sure you already know. Looking forward to Windows 7!

Neil, that would be wonderful! I hope you can get there someday. While it does say beta waay down at the bottom, it would be much easier if the title of the new version said beta right on it. I have no problem testing a beta product as long as I know up front what I'm getting into. I have not had a major problem with WB 7 other than the issue with Windows Updates and that certainly wasn't critical. It is very easy to miss the info at the bottom of the screen.&nbs
