Build culture centres. The enemy clearly has stronger culture then you, so in the meantime, station your cap ships near that planet as they push back enemy culture.

I like Vasari the most. They are great both early game and late game. Phase missiles pwn anything, especially Advent units, phase stabilisers make them extremely mobile. They have great firepower, the almightly Death Egg and a very resilient fleet that is very flexible. Their mobile SB is nearly industructible with the right upgrades.
ALL WILL JOIN THE UNITY IN TIME!!!!!
The psionic abilities of the Advent will make them "valued citizens" i
Yes...I always would rather pay for something that i actually hold in my hand.I will never have to download the full game,i do not need internet connection to play it
You don't need an internet connection to play an impulse game. Only to install it and patch it. However, you don't need to patch it to play it, unlike Steam.
Even if i know i pay more,i own the game,no need to download all kind of stuff, and no need to connect to the internet e
Giving Disruptive Strikes the chance to interrupt abilities sounds great.
So vasari have 1 less option (Marauder being the only disabler). Doesn't mean they're that much less effective. With the Akkans, it would mean the opponent has 4 or 5 caps, which means you should have 4 or 5 caps, if you don't then its obvious your opponent has an edge. 2 extra Akkans will make it a little harder, but if you've got even 3 Marauders you're ok. Or how bout 2 Marauders and 3 K
On the subject of capital ships, is the "quickstart enabled with two early cap ships" a viable MP strategy?
I'm interested where this thread is going. I never thought much of the Advent voices but now that you mention it . . .
Hate them both...can't give any valid or such arguments..it is just me.I hate pay/download..pay/view and so on.Like it better when i go to the shop, pick it from the shelf, pay for it.Go home and enjoy the box,the dvd,the manual, the posters and so on. Steam and impulse can't give me any of that.
So you would rather pay alot more for a game just to get a shiny box rather then pay/download at a lower price?
Rather than Impulse vs. Steam, I'm more curious to compare Impulse to Steam to salesforce.com AppExchange to Apple iStore. In general, there seem to be a lot of competing distribution platforms for various types of software. I'll be curious to see in a few more years what people generally think works vs. what doesn't, and in what field.
Interesting point. I don't have Steam, but I have no complaints about Impulse at all. I really like how it compresses
I'm from Australia too.
the dreaded time zone
For me it is even worse. I'm from SA so I live in a backwater timezone within a backwater timezone.
Any of you got your Rudd money yet?
My brother got it a couple of days ago so I'm probibly getting it very soon.
As advent there are several things you could have done.
As Vasari, there is very little that you can do. You can get a Marauder, but that is rarely useful and if the TEC player has a couple of Akkans, then its even harder.
Oh, sorry. Yes, Good job Ironclad!
We all feel the same way. Lots of people think that StarDock made Sins though. Its a common mistake.
what version of entrenchment is it for?
Its for 1.02. Lots of interesting changes. I especially like the changes to Rail Gun and the Artefact boost.
It depends on your strategy and who you're fighting, but I have found that the most flexible and powerful combos for each race are: TEC: 5 Kols, 1 Sova, 1 Akkan, 4 Dunovs and 5 Marzas. Sova may not be needed. Advent: 4 Radiances, 1 Revelation, 4 Motherships, 3 Halcyons and 4 Raptures. The Revelation is not really needed though. It can be good to reduce the cooldown time for Shield Restore to keep your ships alive, but thats it. Vasari: 4 Kortuls, 1 Skirantra, 4 Eggs, 1
I know that Sins is primarily a war game, but I would like sometimes to play a more diplomacy centered game, at least with some of the AI's in the game.
Thats what the second micro-expansion is all about: diplomacy.
I don't mind Vasari voices. The Desolator sounds pretty evil, but is much better then the TEC voices. The Marza and Kol sound alright though.
Getting Entrenchment is a very good idea, because it is great value for money. Most people online play with Entrenchment, but I would play against the AI first when you get Entrenchment just to test out the various new units, upgrades etc.
Tell your friend to verse just you or ally with you against the AI when he gets the game. When he gets better, verse other people. I've never seen cheaters in MP, and I've never heard of any cheaters on the forums, but I'm new to MP so I'm not totally sure if it is possible, but if it is, then it is rare.
Interesting. Very plausible theories. I would like IC to fill in the Lore for Entrenchment.
Notice the word 'class' which means that there were other types of starbases and supports my theory which goes for all the races
Not necassarily. The word "class" can simply mean that the current SBs are the first model
I don't really know what a 'kinetic bolt' is supposed to be.
Kinetic bolts are simply metal rods that are launched at the planet. As they fall, they accelerate so by the time they hit the ground, they are travelling so fast that the impact is enormous. Heres more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinetic_bombardment
I heard that on Pirate Bay, there was a program called IPREDATOR that you could get. It makes your web-browsing completely anonymous. The name alone is just wrong. I think it may be a good thing that the Pirate Bay guys went to prison.
This would work very well against the AI, but humans would put their SB on "hold position" or kill the seige frigate with SC.
The first thing I thought when I saw one was "kinder suprise". It has a delicious filling and lots of deadly toys inside
Thats a good one. Evacuators are variously referred to as teh egg, space egg and space whale. Its most recent nickname is the death egg. My favourite race is the Vasari, but I can't make up my mind which capital ship is my favourite.
oops, double post.
Very interesting. I would like to see the ability that if your carrier is destroyed, but its strikecraft are not, then you can dock those strikecraft somewhere else.
