That laser-mouse-microsoft true story is interesting. It simply confirms my point that capitalism cannot currently solve the ownership of informatio issue. On the other hand, socialism may do no better. Or may be much better.
In a socialist society the people own the IP. A lot of our technology's were stolen from USSR (i.e. laser eye correction)
I didn't know that. Interesting fact.
here are ma

One issue regarding capitalism that has no been addressed is ownership of information. An American company patented the Human Genome. This means that Universaties all over the world can no longer do research on human DNA. Isn't this totally unfair? My local Universaty had to stop all research on human DNA because now an American company owns it. Does anyone have the right to patent a certain gene (for example) so that no-one else can try to cure a genetic disease? Peop
These are good ideas for new races' starbases, the currently existing races don't need more imo.
This is easily the best Tranformers 2 trailer.
All I see is old patch 1.05. I don't see the soundtrack. Where is it?
Nice idea.It is not really needed but it would be nice to have. Btw, where did you get the Sins soundtrack? is it seperate to the in-game music files?
ive also wondered how a one man fighter with, at most, 50mm weapons (lets say 100mm, though thats VERY outside) can damage a LRF or Seige Frigate with more effeciency than a bomber that carries missiles specially designed for taking out larger ships...
That is because large calibre weapons overpenetrate weak armour and waste kinetic energy so an armour-piercing bomb deals less damage to an unarmoured flight-deck on an aircraft carrier then a ordinary bomb. This was demo
frigs get 60% , caps 65% + 1,1111...% per level (starting at 2nd), which gives 75% max mitigation at lvl 10.
Oh, thats right. Thanks for the correction.
..the real question is, what is it good for? just slows down the battles, which are very slow IMO... and its unrealistic.. during the battle, shield effectivity should stay the same or decrease as it takes damage, not increase..
Shiel
I don't understand why people complain about Impulse. It compresses downloads and automatically extracts them. Its great.
you are just cheating yourself by not getting Entrenchment...
Vey true.
Shield Mitigation cancels out a % of incoming damage. The more you focus fire a ship, the less damage each ship does to the target. If a ship has 40% mitigation then that means that enemy ships are shooting at it and 40% of that damage is being cancelled. Out of battle, shield mitigation is 15% by default. It increases the more it gets attacked. Cap ships and StarBases get higher potential shield mitigation. I think that frigates and cruisers get a max. of 40% while ca
Why cant you TEC bastards leave us alone, all we were trying to do was run away from Chuck Norris!!!
LOL I had in mind that each AI has its own unique taunts and qoutes to make you feel that you're interacting with the AI more. I think that it would add a new level of depth to the Diplomacy side of things. However, AI faction taunts should not be corny like Advent saying "we're heeeeere!" (as in the little girl from Poltergiest) . . . Actually that
The way you group different cap ship abilities is interesting. I've never looked at it like that. However, I don't that this is a problem. I think that its good as it increases variety.
So my question is - would people favor the general rule of thumb of abilities being sublinear, or linear/exponential in their utility?
I think each have their own distinct advantages and disadvantages. "Sublinear" abilities are obviously better early game and level
Nice ideas. More tactical options would be very good. Patrol, search and destroy etc. would add a new depth to this game.
the same should go for incoming fleets. 'Enemy forces are inbound!' could be a scout, or it could be a super fleet. current information is rather lacking.
More in depth info would be great. I would also like for the AIs to have better taunts and threats. Something like this: If you attack a Vasari planet and los
Plasma storms are not a waste for SB as it prevents its destruction by bombers, one of the number 1 killers of starbases today, especially Orkulus.
He meant that SC upgrades for SBs are pointless in Plasma storms.
Also Asteroid Fields and belts make all ships miss a certain (or higher?) percentage of the time. Not sure at the moment of the exact value.
I think that in Asteroid Fields, weapons hit 20% of the time. I'm n
Nothing else for Plasma Storms. Magnetic clouds disable special abilties that need AM. Stars allow ships to recharge 2.5 AM per sec. Also gas giants cause splash damage to be done whenever ships shoot.
Good idea. I've been in many situations where I have needed something like this.
As cool as the Psionic Surge attack is, it's unfortunate that it is a unique weapon that doesn't benefit from any weapon upgrades (AKAIK).
I think that this is inconsistant with the rest of the game. Lke Vasari Disinegrators, the Psionic Surge should get a specific upgrade in the military tree.
braver or more stupid?
Pirates are not suicide attackers. They are after loot. I don't understand why they fight to the death. They can't be that dumb. Some good suggestions.
Nice ideas, but I believe that the pirates will be getting attention in the next expansion. I think that pirates should retreat eventually when they have finished their raid. Its stupid how the pirates will do the same amount of damage regardless whether you can put 250 credit bounty or 25000 credit bounty. I also think that it is absurd that the pirates fight to the death yet the AI empires' military forces retreat. How can miserable criminals be braver then soldiers?
The servers are flooded with pirates. Thats why people are having trouble. It has nothing to do with the game itself.
The Final Judgment bug is already known. Your sqaudron suggestions sound good.
Im not sure how you can argue that MB is OP because its user loses nothing by being countered. That contradicts itself. A user loses the supposed over powered ability if its countered. I don't think that is equivalent to 'nothing'. Not to mention the user then loses an incredibly valuable capital ship AND, if that player had built their fleet around the protection of the Marza like many do, the backbone of their now weaker fleet. Properly countering Dostillevi's 3 Marza pro
The lasers are small and purple, the same colour as the plasma so they are hard to notice.
A MB user does not need to strategise because if MB gets countered, then he loses nothing. A spammer loses his fleet if he gets countered. Countering MB does not hurt the other player.
The marza alone or even with a supporting fleet isn't overpowered, because the counter to one marza is quite easy for any race.
That is not the problem. The problem is that if you don't counter MB then you will pay a rediculously high price for your mistake.
I belie
