Any heavy team based multiplayer community generally ends up being horrible, not just these DoTA clones. I played World in Conflict for a bit, and you'd often have high ranked players in public games screaming profanities at the low ranked players instead of calmly explaining what they're doing wrong (this was a game with no skirmish mode either, so you had no choice but to play online to practice). It's like people completely forget that they used to be an inexperienced newb at o
Just so everyone knows...Bombers are getting the nerf axe HARDCORE. That is all.
Glad someone finally got it. People discussing vanilla Sins mistakenly think the bomber issue is due to Scamble Bombers being OP. No, a critical mass of bombers will beat anything in the game right now. Even an equal supply of carriers with fighters or flak. There's been some unit with this status since the game

It may be time to take a step back and re-evaluate your priorities in life when spending $25 on a virtual pony seems like a good use of money to you. Coming soon to WoW: $25 for a Celestial Stable for your $25 mount. ...and you know people would buy it.

You must be new to the modern video game industry. If PC gamers complain loudly enough that is the last thing everyone wanted from an X-COM title, they will just focus harder on making it a console title. That's not an entirely bad result in this case though, as the further distanced this gets from the original, the more it will just seem like Generic Console FPS #551 that happens to have a similar name to a strategy game classic. But seriously, talk about completely missi

That's why you read the review and not the score. 'Professional' review sites are pretty blatantly corrupt these days, and give scores a bonus based on how much a publisher sunk into advertising; and can't give negative reviews of major publishers in fear of the company pulling advertising. As bad as any game is, I challenge you to find any mainstream big publisher title these days that gets less than a 6/10 no matter how shitty it is. 10/10s are given out like candy, even t

What about something like 800/1200/1600 damage with ~25 second cooldown? Combined with making the shield skill a passive, this would mean a non-BS staying in battle vs. a decent level Kol would be suicide (as it is with any other BS), while keeping the whole 'TEC abilities are straight-forward' theme. Click cannon, target gets kicked in the teeth. Potentially even one-shoting smaller ships without max upgrades. Also extend the speed debuff to match the new cooldown o

Good stuff and nice job.
Nothing more needs to be said really. This is ultimately more useful than any sort of professional review, as I get to see some people actually playing and discussing the game. I don't want a brief summary of all the points in the final review score, what's the g

Sins of a Solar Empire was probably the last game I bought in store with very little prior knowledge that didn't end in disappointment. I've been burned enough times throughout the years that I very rarely jump into a purchase without at least some advance knowledge of what the community and user reviewers (professional reviews are mostly a load of bribed crap these days) generally thought of the game. Not to mention digital downloads mean there's even less excuse for not res

Yeah, that was me. I'm fine with all the other settings on Fast; I can't imagine playing with slower movement speed than that. I think the problem is DS 'Fast' rates were set before Diplomacy added 'Faster'. In other words, now that Diplomacy added a fourth speed to the settings, I don't think DS needs the boosted rates anymore and can just match vanilla Diplomacy rates. If you want crazy money, that's what Faster is for now.

That was the first large scale FFA I've ever played against human players, since owning the original when Sins first came out. It was by the most fun I've had playing multiplayer Sins, ever. Who won BTW? I was the first one out as I was just to tired to rebuild after taking all three of you on. Income rates in DS may need a slight adjustment IMO. I had over 500000 credits when I left.

As for the skirantra, the problem isn't just scramble bombers it's bombers in general at the moment. For whatever reason, fighters and flak just can't take them out fast enough. On one of the rare occasions I play on ICO, everyone (I mean literally every player in the game) was just spamming bombers. Foolishly, I had a force of flak and fighters. Supply being roughly equal, it doesn't work. You slowly kill the bombers, the bombers quickly kill all structures, and

You guys could, you know, play smaller games? Even with larger RTS communities, games over 3v3 are difficult to set up. Is there something wrong with 1v1 or 2v2, or is 5v5 to only way you guys know how to play Sins anymore? A lot of balance issues disappear when players can't neglect their economy and mindlessly rush. I've looked online at various times and see 3-4 people in the lobby, but they complain 'there aren't enough people to play' and leave. What?

I'm genuinely confused why people think Diplomacy is worse than Entrenchment for online play. You can adjust the settings so it's just Entrenchment with envoys and pacts. It's like adding a new colour of marshmellow to a cereal and complaining the old way was vastly superior. Anyway, all new players probably have Trinity and will not be amused by idiots demanding they downgrade their game because they hate change, so good look with your Diplomacy boycott. The rest of u

This concept has little benefit to the customer (what, did people forget how to do backups?), but opens to door for lots of abuse by corporations. If this becomes more and more standard, I'll just be buying games less and less.

The Distant Stars mod more or less addresses the whole 'boring sectors' problem. You may want to give that a try if you're looking for some enhancements to Sins without drastically changing the core game.

There's no reason not to get Diplomacy for SP, as the bulk of improvements you get from it don't have much of an impact on multiplayer. Not to mention most modders are working with Diplomacy now, and will probably stop updating Entrenchment mods at some point. If you're thinking about upgrading solely to play with random people on ICO, don't. If you know people to organize games with, that's another story. But Sins online is largely dead at this point. You simp

j/k, will review that later though haven't really seen too much of a problem (the underused ability of resource focus does help a lot in this mod) It's not a major issue on smaller maps, but that lack of a trade bonus later on in the game does seriously start to catch up. The extractor thing can be left alone for the most part for the sake of race diversification, but I really think Advent need a trade income booster; even if just on

Decided to give this a try and I generally like the additions and changes. One thing that needs to be adjusted IMO is the prerequistes for various researches. TEC for example has to buy 6 turret ROF upgrades now before they can buy the range upgrade or rocket pods, and 4 armour upgrades before they can research autocannon upgrades. This really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I know it's still version 0.7, but the pacts need to be looked at in future versions.

My area gets lots of short power outages during the summer (usually no more than a minute or two), and I'm at the point where I'm ready to drop some cash to avoid the interruptions. I've got a fairly modern gaming computer, and just want something that will buy me a couple minutes to ride out short outages and avoid losing work. What's a good low cost UPS for this? I don't need many outlets, all I have in my current surge protector is the system, monitor and modem.

I admit I've been badmouthing the game a lot, but it deserves to be badmouthed for what they gave you during release. Don't worry about it, you'll just never make anyone happy with the pirates without totally revamping them. So long as they rely on brute force to do damage, they will always be too strong or too weak. Water them down too much, and you can hold them off with a three turrets and a repair bay like in Entrenchment. Leave them as is, and you need a starbase to hold them off past the first couple raids. Unfortunately Ironclad didn't have the time or interest level to revam

Crysis is a bad example for benchmarking because it's so poorly optimized. NOTHING can run that game well on high settings, even overclocked triple-SLI configurations. The highest settings on that game are there solely to make pretty screenshots, even if it's running at 5 FPS.

A shame EA's real DRM scheme these days is to shut down multiplayer servers after extremely short periods of time. While I don't care much for sports games, they shut down the Madden 2009 servers as soon as Madden 2010 was released. Even if many people are going to migrate to the newer one, I kind of expect more than a year of multiplayer support for my $60 game.
