Phase out hull a waste of antimatter? It's the best ability in the game. A level 5 Antorak is almost unstoppable.
The thing is, you were going on and on about how LRM spam sucks. HunterX went LRM spam and you couldn't counter it. In fact, it looks like you tried to counter it with LRM's of your own. Weren't you praising flaks as the holy grail to stop LRM spams?
Theres lots of factors you're missing.
well the biggest thing was that i gave up that feild and forgot to upgrade my asteroids infrastructure until late as you can see in the income at score at the end(was to focused on other things.) But it's the 2vs2 when you do your RA rush that's going to mean something :)
Right, because I'm a computer and can't actually pick my targets./sarcasm
I was saying your LRMS won't kill my caps or buildings, not that you can't actually target. Oh and we're just going to 1vs1 now (assuming he comes back..) Not see his amazing unbeatable RA, since he of course isn't going to RA in 1vs1 which is understandable. I don't have someone I know to 2vs2 tonight but tomorrow probably.
HuntingX, go on the sins irc its easier to get a game going that way
40 Flak frigs(which cost less) than 40 LRMS will kill the lrms with just less than half a dozen ships if you micro them.If I have LRMs and you have flak, I will ignore your flak and kill your cap, then fly around and kill your other structures, meanwhile pumping out more ships.
No you won't.
Furthermore, light frigs are anti heavy. Thus, they deal ~13 dps (in the case of squirmishers, if my memory of their damage is correct). The final nail against flaks vs light frigs is that they can't effectively focus fire. They're just spraying all over the place so it's not super hard to micro units that are low on health and get them to safety.
Right. 13 DPS with 1140 combined hull/shield and please take note that light frigs have only a forward firing arc against
i should be home in an hour from now. I need to find someone who can lay tonight, not a lot of people i know outside the game. I have someone to play with tomorrow most likely.
Nope. Countless ways to stop it, just like every other "unstoppable godly combo!" Try it against one of the experienced players.
Okay. Who is an RA rush expert and wants to play then?
You haven't played enough if you think flaks are only good against lrms and fighters. Even against light frigs, which counter them they do alright. Why? Because for almost the same cost they have double the hp/shields/armor and quadrupple the DPS. Comparing armor and damage types alone isn't enough. All the units don't cost 400/50/25 with 1k hull, 500 shields, and 5 dps. Killing lrms with flak doesn't leave you with unnessisary useless ships afterwards. It leav
Uhh why is +8 civ only good against the CPU? It allows you to build more trade ports/ore refineries, or frigate factories, on your best defended planets I have a feelign you don't really understand what it does, like most people.
In short, LRM's deal too much damage and nothing kills them fast enough for an equivalent cost. Further more, all the ships that are decent against LRM's suck versus pretty much any other target, whereas LRM's are great at killing light frigs, cap ships
what does the 8+ civ upgrade do? Increase tax income?
You get +8 logic spots per planet so you can build 2 more logics building (IE 2 more mil, 2 more civ, 2 more trade ports, 2 more ore refineries.) It's too good frankly and should just be +4 IMO, but whatever. Advent has a similar tech to get +4 tactical but.. yeah.. that's far from as useful, not worth researching.
Oh god I'm so tired of my teamates going "I'm going to rush to RA". As soon as they say that I know it's an unfair game, it's now becoming a 3vs2, 4vs3, 5vs4, or what have you. It's OKAY, "pretty good" even, on maps with multiple stars, but that's it. Even in this case it's not the end-all-be-all, it's not a requirement, Vasari isn't "the RA race." Also LRM spam sucks(includes illums). Going after planets first is s
Flaks don't "pwn" illuminators. They very slowly kill them while even slowerly die. LRM/LRL's on the other hand kill what they kill very quickly which is why people like them. By the time you kill illums with flaks they've already taken out a bunch of buildings surrounding multiple planets. Whoever focuses on killing the flaks with illums or lrms is an idiot.
Why do so many people just make mods an easy-mode? The planets give far to many resources/logistics/tac and stuff. They're twice as good as the normal planets. Not balanced at all.
We can do a lot right now to change gameplay. Just search for my Sins Enhancement mod. Most of what I do is just changing simple values but I'm learning more now and starting to add new things. I agree with you though that the current mod tools are limiting, especially with some of the new features I'm working on for my next version.
The mod is nice and all but.. it's not changing gameplay, sorry. Changing gameplay is like well.. some of the many mods for FPS gam
Lol.. "I honestly think a lot of people don't realize just how much you can do already. " :/ Yeah okay..
Patiance is a virtue sure.. But i'm saying I want to know what i'm being patiant for. Like the topic says, what are we waiting to actually get? Or is this it? I rather think this is it.. :/ The devs haven't said otherwise. They said they encourage modding, the game is data driven (what they mean by the entity files), and blah blah. But look at what we have. :/ I just want to hear what we're actualy going to get before I invest hundreds of hours. Sure the devs have invest
bump :/
And to make it clear, again, this annoys me the most because I love the game so much and I badly want to make a mod from it. Making a mod from crytek, unreal, id4, source isn't really an option because their netcode is hard-coded on all of them I beleive. And even if they aren't, there is far more work that would be needed to get them to do what I wanted than sins. Sins only have a few things I need to change, but they're important things. Yes I know this is easy to mod.. bu
Right. You can't mod the engine in those either, but it's a lot more than you can do here.. :| PC games need a very moddable rts engine like there are FPS ones. :/
"Like one of the above posters mentioned, there's not a game available that gives you access to changing game mechanics. There's tons of stuff you can do in Sins - within the engine's limitation, which is true for ANY moddable game." HL.. quake.. unreal.. crysis..? What are these? The game is not *highly* moddable. It's only as moddable as games usually are now days. :/ You can't add new mechanics, you can only change around current ones. I'm not saying I should
Sins is made up of very little of it.. that's the issue. And modifying these entities pales in comparison to unrealscript. With unrealscript you can actually add in new things. I understand not having access to engine code, but not being able to modify the core gameplay at all is stupid. Like quake, unreal, hl, crysis have it it's as close as you can come to having source code. You can do A LOT. But you couldn't make sins out of them without the actual engine code because al
Yeah but.. it doesn't seem like we'll get real mod tools. This is just some data file editing. We need some source code. :/ You can't edit a lot of important things you would want to to make a total conversion. and uh... you could do that but you can't make it so you can slow-boat it to another planet. But again, this is sort of like a "stupid hack" that i was talking about that you need to do to get stuff to work how you want because of the limitations of this entit
Right. I know about the beta mod tools. That's what I'm referring to. They aren't really mod tools.. it's not an SDK. By the FAQ, interviews I saw on TV, interviews on websites, it sounded like this game would have real mod support. But it doesn't. All you can do is edit some text files, not the software. Games like UT, quake, HL, released with half or so of their source code so you could change the game into almost anything. This.. this isn't what I thought we were
