Thanks so much guys. I'll try updating my drivers and see if it helps. I did just try to install it though and now the installation process won't initialise. Grrr.

Galactic Civ on Vista? in Bug Reports GalCiv2 Forums

I've installed the game and it seems to work ok but when I double click the icon to play the game nothing happens. Its not showing as an active program in program manager so I don't think its initialising. Is this a common problem with Vista and can I download a patch or something? I really wanna play the game. :)
