Galactic Civ on Vista?

I've installed the game and it seems to work ok but when I double click the icon to play the game nothing happens. Its not showing as an active program in program manager so I don't think its initialising. Is this a common problem with Vista and can I download a patch or something? I really wanna play the game. :)

LOL I know this wont help but.... Use XP   No problems running under that operating system.

In all seriousness though try opening the folder the program was installed to and run it from the direct exe there. Thatmight help, though i doubt it. Worth a try though :)

Best of luck!

And it might help if you run the program with admin privilages, or make sure that you username is an admin.

Also, make sure the video drivers are up to date - especially with Nvidia cards.
The drivers shipped with Vista won't work with this game, and you will need to go to Nvidia for the correct update.

I have it on my laptop for when I am travelling as well as my home PC. The latter is XP, the laptop is Vista. Runs ok on both. I agree re graphics drivers, its essential to get vendor drivers asap with Vista until it settles down and Vista Graphics drivers have been submitted to MS by Vendors.

From the discription it appears it has not installed properly. Try re downloading from Stardock Central. If its not showing in programs then it has no chance to run. It does work ok on Vista, so I would suggest you need to look more closely at your PC setup & updates, particularly graphics drivers, and its correct install on downloading from Stardock Central. If it doesnt work on new download contact Stardock support.

Thanks so much guys. I'll try updating my drivers and see if it helps.

I did just try to install it though and now the installation process won't initialise. Grrr.
