frog: try asking that question of one of the former admins after efront officially dies... before that, & i'd be worried about lawsuits... y'know, sam jain might object to my liberal use of "sam jain is a pedophilic pigfucker" in context....

i never said "post", tandis - i just speculated, that at some point everyone (or damn close to it, folks like ghandi etc excepted) has called someone else a f*ckhead etc. The fact that brad (who wasn't mentioned in my original post on the subject at all) hasn't called anyone a f*ckhead in posts on the msgbd is irrelevant to my point.

there's something noble in altruism, of which sharing your software freely is a form. you're correct that it does not put food in the mouths of the devs, or pay for webhosting; if it did, it wouldn't be altruistic, would it?

the point is to create a better community - or to keep an "underground" alive, if you believe the aboveground world to be without redeeming features. the community (an ever-shifting thing, as you know well) started around various apps; it eveolved as new apps came out. recall the moves to kjofol, to, urm, what was it, ultraplayer, etc? the shell wars? make the apps & they will come. case in point, napigator; 34i made an app which was new, nothing like it existed; a community st

indeed; no. I understand the grief the admins have to deal with - which is part of why, despite my sympathies for l0c / jier, I can't fault frogboy either. And personally, I'll pass on having that grief again. "saner heads will prevail" - I'm conceited enough to claim to sannity, although saner than others - maybe not. But anyway, I've been talking w/ jier. Mostly, he wants this to be over. He's not interested in continuing the antagonism (I, on the other hand, seem to be a glu

tandis... i've looked further into things... and it seems brad may have been obligated to take down l0c's post. jier was, in fact, wrong about what he assumed to be brad's initial assertion. but. that doesn't make the core of their argument - or assertation of their philosophy - incorrect. SD - and via association, WC (actually, not even just by association - when Brad first proposed the idea, he said it would be completely hands-off by SD, if we wanted, we could hype competing

jier, oki, the "community" may not be all that "together" right now - but then, it's -always- been fractured. Nothing new here. The sites have never been the glue which holds us together - witness the custo/skinz wars of yesteryear, the skinz/deskmod wars... DA was basically the first to try & get along w/ everyone (giving gorman credit: he always seemed a bit mortified by the "wars" some of the DM admins would take part in). The glue has been, weirdly enough, the apps - make s

hrm, thought the thread was created by l0c - ahh, it was. hypocrite used incorrectly? nazi was an insult, it offended people, but the same people it offended also insult people - even the one person who called into querstion the acceptibility of hurling insults didn't deny ever making them (& no, of course it isn't "acceptable" to hurl them in my locale; doesn't stop anyone, though.) asslicker being the incorrect perjorative? hrm, probably. it went well w/ the flow of the sente

Never saw the news posting. So no idea who was justified doing what. Maybe deletion was warranted, maybe it wasn't. Maybe none of you have ever called anyone else a f*ckhead, or a$$hole; lord knows i have. point is, to the person you're using that term to, it's usually construed as being quite offensive. Probably moreso than hearing secondhand a third party being called a nazi. so, to me, you're all being hypocrites... unless you've -really- never called anyone a f*ckhead (or i
