fuck, why do I have to say everything twice (or for brad, 5 or 6 times) before they get it? "Uhm, for those of you stuck in $tardock land, efx is a freeware window skinner - does what windowblinds does, albeit with fewer effects etc. WB is a fine app, and the added value, I think, does add up to the price of the app. Generally using efx instead of WB is more a statement of prinicple than a judgement of quality) " learn to -read-. I said WB was better. I said the reasons to use

jayg: yes, please do read more. hopefully you haven't been fully brainwashed yet, there may be hope for you. The $tardock umbilical -can- be cut; if it couldn't, there wouldn't be efx downloads still happening (they exist!) (Uhm, for those of you stuck in $tardock land, efx is a freeware window skinner - does what windowblinds does, albeit with fewer effects etc. WB is a fine app, and the added value, I think, does add up to the price of the app. Generally using efx instead of WB is mor

Personally, I think he just gets annoyed when anyone points out the corporate nature of this site. So, anyone here pay for DesktopX? Did you know that it used to be a freeware app, until $tardock embraced & extended it? It was called Verona Desktop Enhancer - just try to find it, it's long gone. All traces wiped clean. Kinda like laying out the tarp before an execution, I guess.

Now that I think about it, that really pisses me off. And I don't know who to blame. brad never stated those were my words - so can I get mad at him for attributing those "quotes" to me? No. Can I get mad at your lack of reading skills, that you couldn't tell that they weren't quotes of actual people, but just made up garbage? Guess not, that's not your fault really. Who was your english teacher in grade school? I guess that's where the final blame has to lie.

cripes. look up sophisrty in the dictionary, will ya? here's what I said: "There is a real community. It's #skinnerz, like jesh said. It's also the mix of sites devoted to skinning." a) I was agreeing with someone - jesh made the point the the community, for him, is #skinnerz - and in many ways, it is. There's admins and users from all the major sites there, all the time. Uh, except this one. Ya'll aren't banned or anything, so that ain't it... ah, wait, i forgot - it'

yay? congrats, most of your mp3 players will be useless, even if the mp3's are those you made yourself from your purchased cd's. this has almost nothing to do with protecting artists. copyright is broken. currently, if valuable information is under copyright, it's basically lost if the copyright owner has no interest in publishing. got a favorite sci-fi short story, published 50 years ago in a collection? your only hope is to find it in a used bookstore. you can't get it new (in most ca

frog, you've misrepresented pretty much everything i've said, even twisted my words to mean "that the real community is here".. gah, i'm disgusted. Really. You couldn't come up with legitimate points, so you made 'em up. There is a real community. It's #skinnerz, like jesh said. It's also the mix of sites devoted to skinning. Yes, they disagree on various points. Find me a homogenous community, and I'll show you a still photo from "The Village of the Damned". There's also a com

hell, i -wrote- most of that thread, it seems skinz had ads in screenshots - yes, i guess we did. custo ain't skinz, and is, obviously, less tolerant. bully for them; that's their stance, and I applaud 'em for having it, and having the gumption to stick by it. I'd reiterate my point about rudeness: as long as its against someone you dislike, you find it acceptable; otherwise, you don't. Ba

moderating profane titles, hell, it's your sitek, that's your right as owner. speaking of owners, hrm, yes, people -could- call for you to step down, but it'd be at your whim. being king is good, eh? The site could burn around your ears, and you could play the lyre... But, where's this thread you speak of, bashing people for making a buck? I've seen a thread bashing advertising in a non-advertising forum, but I haven't seen this thread you describe.

If you're glad the non-wincusto folks moved elsewhere and you're not interested in 'em, why post on their boards, brad? Hell, why get so involved as to suggest one of the admins step down? Think someone coming here, and admin from another site, would be welcome to say, "frogboy should be removed as an admin"? That's what you've done elsewhere, on sites you're not interested in.

Please. It's not WC being targetted, it's the world. Yes, you infected yourself when you opened an unrequested attachment from that music company. It's called badtrans. www.theregister.co.uk has a story or two on it. Wouldn't have been a problem if you weren't using OE.

mcafee wasn't catching badtrans until, IIRC, Sunday or Monday - and it started htiting friday/saturday. I posted news on this one before theregister, even OE is ass. Any software which ships w/ "features" which degrade security enabled by default is idiotic.

You're remiss in having a post of this title w/o mentioning the other window skinners, as well. Illumination http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Park/6797/illumination.html Allows, to a degree, "direct" porting of enlightenment themes. Was capable of effects WB couldn't do, at one time, although WB can duplicate its abilities now. Open source (delphi) efx http://www.thirty4.com/efx/ Perhaps decrepidly ancient by now, but still useable. Very lightweight. <

32. But the average age depends on your definition of "participant" - I can't speak for here, but at certain other sites, the majority of users are the faceless masses who don't have logins & just come for the skins - they won't post to the message bd, etc. The average age for skinners is probably around the early to mid 20's (I'm using all sites here, not just this one - people here are likely to have disposable income, which raises the average age a bit) - but overall, including downl
