The game is certainly playable without, but I have to chime in that on my 7900GTX I'm missing all these useful effects as well. All graphics settings are maxed except for 2xAA. Using 182.08 here still, but from the sound of it the next most recent drivers don't fix the issue either.
That's a weird figure for RAM.
He's got XP and probably has 4 GB of installed RAM but that's all XP can recognize.
I seem to have a "Realtek AC97" sound driver, and although I reformatted a few months ago, the last driver update was in 2006
You definitely want to check again. The latest update I'm seeing on Realtek's site for Vista and Windows 7 is March of this year. For XP and older, October of last year.
Just as a point of reference for the 8800, I'm on a 7900GTX and have all settings maxed with 2X AA. Don't recall ever seeing my simspeed lower than 7, but it's possible. Regardless, I'm almost always with the highest on both teams.
Old sound drivers have crippled some players' performance from the little I've read. Whether you have onboard sound or a sound card, make sure you have the very latest drivers. /nosound should be a last resort. http://forums.demigodthegame.com/348389 There's a link to it to at least test if the drivers don't work out.
As much as I'd like to see QoT more diverse in her abilities, and as much as I don't like seeing my own side's towers crumble, nothing should really be added to the game to heal or restore towers as you'll just end up dragging games out.
I could gift you a copy of HL2, but I don't think I'm really at the point where I'm going to pay money for a coupon to save money.
Wouldn't mind one of the coupons myself if anyone's feeling generous.
I'll make sure to try it out this weekend. [e digicons]\o/[/e] Edit: After 3 AM here, but I was anxious to at least give it a few minutes of play and try it out a bit before going to bed. I wrote a few notes on good and bad things I saw in that limited time: + Kol's new Flak Burst effect is lovely. Very well done. + Did you add a star background? I played on some golden yellow and orange one that I don't recall seeing before. If you
No. A zero checksum mod doesn't affect the core gameplay files that need to be the same amongst all players. They are purely cosmetic and work fine in games where the other players aren't using them. Since it's been a while since I last asked, how's it going Bailknight? Has the next version of the mod run into any unexpected difficulties? Best of luck.
I have no idea why the textures of your ships were missing. Make sure you've placed it in the proper mod folder: C:\Documents and Settings\*Owner Name*\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-Entrenchment v1.02 \Mods-v.1.16 if you're still playing the original Sins I believe will work, but haven't tried it. In that directory should be the mod folder containing Particle, PipelineEffect, TextureAnimations and Textures folders.&nbs
This should be the correct link as posted on the previous page: http://files.filefront.com/Bailknight+Entrenchrar/;13413662;/fileinfo.html Until bailknight returns with beautiful, wonderful updates, that should be the one to use. Works for me anyway.
I'm beginning to wonder if these same people curse at their home or car when they have to present a key in order to enter. Damn conspiratorial doors treating me like a criminal!
I guess what I like more about the structure aura to ships is you could think of it that Vasari nanites are always doing what they can in or out of battle. The structure then could have an ability like Nanite Amplifier or Nanite Control, something like that, with the idea being that it refocuses their tasks so they repair faster, a feat not possible when they need to be worrying about the latest hole that just got blown in the side of the hull.
Downloaded for viewing later. It's too damn late to be loading one tonight, heh.
As I originally conceived them as juggernaughts of power that you'd be forced into fighting and would laugh at the puny efforts of your fleet, I'd think where they are in the tech tree is certainly too low. As they've actually been implemented, they seem more like a very hardy support structure with the added and needed benefit of not allowing your far away worlds to just be crushed by a handful of units when your fleet is ages away. I'd focus research on such trade and military
That certainly sounds more reasonable and in line with the lore of the Vasari.
Considering the original complaint is regarding the other races having repair rates just a few hp higher for a single target, I fail to see how a free area-wide 5hp/sec that's always on is somehow balanced. Could something be done to make Vasari repair better while keeping the game balanced? I have little doubt. The suggestion I responded to sounds silly and broken.
Sounds far too powerful. No-cost decent repair ability for all ships nearby? No thanks.
first see and understand his problem
I did. Nowhere did I see how creating a post bragging about pirating the game because the official servers were down for a night was a legitimate solution.
Summary: I encountered a minor and temporary problem and rather than attempt to get it resolved, I've used it to desperately try to justify piracy.
Is the game running at all and crashing while playing or is it just crashing as soon as you run it? Have you run Impulse and made sure you have all the updates? Have you made sure that you don't have any incompatible maps or mods loading? If none of this helps, you can contact the official support at At least I think that's the right address. Annatar or someone else shou
