I actually encourage people to look at all sides of the issue, and not just the CO2 crowd. After looking at both sides, draw your own conclusions Thinking as a politician, and assuming there is a political machine in place (especially wherever there is money flowing) I'd say it would be quite handy to control who gets research grants and other funds. Then, if I were inclined to be a fat lazy stupid pig that didn't care about anything beyond hopping

WoW-Somehow I just knew I wsn't really the smartest person on the whole planet. That's ok, I didn't really want to be. I think the wisest course of action would be to unite under the Human banner; face the difficult challenge of population control by regulating births; do away with poverty by careful redistribution of assets; and give each and every Human conceived the support and education necessary to allow each individual to grow, learn, and contribute to the limit of their abilities; while m
Thank you to ElWhopO for making note of this discrepancy Just following instructions ... you said to! Besides, I didn't want neilo to get depressed. You know how he is. Now where's my blowgun at ... [opens closet - stuff falls out] ahhh, here tis. <a href="http://altmeta.kryofx
Do you happen to know what ports the game uses? I don't think it's that, but I could try forwarding them through my router. No, I don't remember. All I remember is I couldn't see any pop-ups while GAlCivII was on fullscreen, so when I made it smaller or put it in a window, I could see the helpful popups. I'm sure support@stardock could help you with that too, they're pretty sharp. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 align="absm
There is one liitle thing you might check, if you haven't already ... your firewall may be blocking the ports to post to the Metaverse. To check, start the game and adjust the screen size to something smaller than your monitor, really small just to check, and restart the game. Dunno if yours does but my firewall pops up a message on the right side of the screen, and I have the choice of allowing the connection to Metaverse or not. After the first time the firewall remembered it no prob
What I say is that people took the right locations for the time that they lived in. Even now that happens its just a bit less noticable. Who knows maybe what today are a bunch of poor Pacific Islanders maybe come tomarrows dominate culture. I had a conversation with a person with interests in US west-coast pre-columbian artifacts, which I didn't even know existed until then. The artifacts are little stone knives, ends of pestles, stuff like that. A lot o
Yes, sounds interesting. I too have noticed a seeming imbalance due to the effects of popularity/politics as opposed to just a simple comparison of sorts. Playing in a league, like say the west v. east baseball or football leagues could be a lot of fun too! I'd be willing to create a third character for league play. The initial rules proposal by ghostwes sounds like a good basis for a start. Maybe we could even have a forum for league players eventually, depending on how many want to p
Suicide attack ships means - faster(more move pts) , off-defense-type attack , no defense, smaller, cheaper, individually maneuvered , attack-first ? In combo with Eyes of the Universe so you can actually position your ships just out side their sensor range, and dart in to the attack unsuspected at a time and place of your choosing, is what's known as a "combat multiplier" by tacticians. Again, don't firget you don't havta hold the colony, just take it and destro
ummm ... this is fun
hah hahah ... i'm so nerdy
oops ... ! here it is then -
and another test ...
Another test ... I got the link for my char from the 'forum banners' link under my altmeta banners on the left side ... it provides bbcode and html in a popup window. TEST http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/2170/tgbanner2oj3.png
Nice banner! Now you have me doing tests as well...
You guys are way ahead of me, I haven't even played a map where I had more than 40 colonies, and I dunno if there more than 60 on the whole map. But anyway, my 2cents worth is to research sensors and build Eyes of the Universe - because then ships and starbases have good visual coverage of your entire border, which in turn allows figuring out which are the main production planets of der enemiz. Backtracking them from choke points has worked for me once or twice. If the game l
What I found was a 3-book package called "The Ender Saga" - "Ender's Game" + "Ender's Shadow" + "Shadow of the Hegemon" I think I may have mislead you in my previous post. There is Ender's Game, and 7 sequels, totalling 8 books. Ender Series: Ender's Game - Speaker for the Dead - Xenocide - Children of the Mind "Bean" Series: Ender's Shadow - Shadow of the Hegemon - Shadow Puppets - Shadow of the Gi
Indeed, but unless you believe in a creator or magic, they just don't appear out of nowhere. The current hypothesis for the emergence of new traits is, AFAIK, mutations. Unfortunately, mutations often cause a greater loss of information than gain, so it's a questionable explanation at best. My first impression of this "new" line of thought is that it's burrow-cratic/political stab at pretending to have found something to talk about because a wall was run into on t
Applejack is pretty good. Put the bottle in the freezer (it won't freeze), serve in a chilled or frozen shot glass. More like a sweet shooter than a liquor. Goes well with quite a few beers etc. CAUTION: The effects are not really noticeable until you actually fall down. Use sparingly. It's made by freeze distillation. Well, apparently yue ebil influence is getting out of hand! Not saying I'll join any ebil Empires, but I did go so far as to create my ebil character ... "Scumby" heh heh heh. Similar to Gumby [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gumby] with all of Gumby's natural abilities - bending and stretching - yet more evolved, more able to slide out of difficult situations, due in large part to the New&Improved Pasty White Skin with Slimy Mucous Covering! I'll have a picture soon as I can pin it down.<
it all boils down to: Let's see if we can get the gringos to eat worms. Hah hahah hahahhhaaaa
Is that anything like the worm in the bottle of Tequila thing?
I do magic every day when i go out for a walk ... I try not to step on the ants on the sidewalk. Which btw is something you may find in a Buddhist text as well. And a good old fashion Hug is one of the most magical things out there. HuG!
with another spell. That it was some kind of destiny (destiny is a form of magic) that those in the right location to take it ... so, if there is magic, then those that use magic believe in God, they just don't want anyone to know, so thay can pretend to be cooler than everyone else, and get the dummies to cough up some of their food or treasure as an offering to the sorcerers? I do magic every day when i go out for a walk ... I try not to step on the
Mistikmind said it best so far for me - facts are overated (paraphrased) they are far from the font of truth - unfettered thought is infinitely more able to adjust to perceiving old problems in new lights! I see you. There's another little thing I would like to add, and that is a simple exercise in communication. It makes for a hilarious party-game, too! In the
Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game and all its sequels (there are 7 books, 3 follow the character Ender, the other 4 follow a different character) What I found was a 3-book package called "The Ender Saga" - "Ender's Game" + "Ender's Shadow" + "Shadow of the Hegemon" Now that I have the front covers to look at, I can see what other books are listed by the publisher and look for them too. Already finished Ender's Game and partway through Ender's Shadow.
