Prayer means faith in God and He can indeed be swayed by His Love towards us. You are joking, right ? If there is a God, then He, She or It, is obviously a sadist. She has set the Universe up, so that our sun will engulf the Earth. I assume that all the planets around other suns will go the same way. Exterminating all life in the Universe. Then, I assume it will start all over again. We also seem to be d

I don't know what some of you are referring to on Google ... I haven't had anything similar to what you all experience ... but then I just use it as my home page/search engine. Tempting to crack a macabre joke here ... you let msworlddominationxx do it on your pc for years without getting upset, why pick on the googlit all of a sudden? Hm? Isn't it a bit late to be closing the barn door after the barn burned down? See Tyranny of Evil Empire thread here for some cool funny stuff
But the thing that Christianity has is hope of a better life after this hour or trial is over. Christianity always grows during times of persecution. Ironically, that is what is happening now. The most rapid growth is near the equator and southern hemisphere. This country is spoiled. The liberalse want to do whatever they want, but are often very intollerant of anyone or idea that would stop them from doing whatever they want. Ravi Zacharias
I know I dont want to know hahahaha,,, lol What ElWhopO said is already funny enough,,, even funnier if he really didn't see the not so well hidden connotation one can derive from his remark! You and St. Peter are gonna have a LOT to discuss... hmmm ... It might be better if you just don't say anything a'tall ...
Suddenly a loud, ringing voice speaks - That was a test. How dare you try to tell me what I am? How dare you judge my works! How dare you denigrate even the least of my projects? Just for that, I'm gonna send you to Heaven! St. Peter will now be the one to check out your rap sheet, instead of the Dalai Lama. I hear he's a real "stick-ler." Hah Hah Hah Oooops for a second i thought i said somthing to offend! lo
have you ever read any books on Buddhism? No. It is easy to understand that such beutiful faith as Buddhism is at the very least, indirectly inspired by God. I can say that as a Christian myself because i know that humans are created in the image of God and therefore are capable of creating spiritual beauty even in ignorance of God,,, if that were the case. Suddenly a loud, ringing voice speaks - That was
i thought you might appriciate a passsage from the preface to Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass : This is what you shall do: Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any ma
Also i notice no one else seems interested in our little topic of conversation I try not to criti-size (at least not out loud) ... have you ever read any books on Buddhism? I found one I could understand (the context of my upbringing was a major obstacle) titled "An Open Heart", edited by Nicholas Vreeland. If you try searching 'An Open Heart' on Wikipedia, you will get info about the 14th Dalai Lama (Tibetan). Anyway, the book is edited By Mr. Vreela
Glad to see you drop by ElWhopO, feel free, if you have a spare slot, to come and join us, i know you want to let the tyrant side of you out for a play.... Thanks, neilo. I am looking for that series by Piers Anthony (Bio of a Space Tyrant) so I can re-read it. I sometimes think about letting the Tyrant out ... but then why pretend? I'm a Tyrant now!! [edit] yea, the devil was probably the one thattalked kinda squeeky ... new nickname is "Football" [
We are the Champions, we are the cough ... wheeze ... ehh! Ok, so much for that! Being Numero Quattro ain't so bad. We need more Members! heh heh No Torians, though! You let one in and pretty soon there's 18 billion of them. We have to draw the line somewhere! Sure, no problem, Boss! [mumble ... der neuen Name des Kochs ist Joe Smith ... der neuen Name des Kochs ist Joe Smith ... mumble] Watch out Makara! I may have to post eight games to your one j
I genuinely think that people both with and without faith should at least read the book. Just as I think people who are against faith should read the bible, Koran, Torah etc... I've read all those faith books, and I find them exactly what they are.... As far as I'm concerned faith is pointless simply because there are so many groups claiming their so called "rules", which are no different from govern
I'd like to see the high quality of the Forums continue. I'm impressed with a lot of the people I meet, and have learned a lot. I probably spend more time in the Forums lately than playing the game, but that could change depending on what I wanna do. I don't see yet where I could do any more to contribute there just because I was on the Council, but ya never know. I'd like to see the Metaverse have a lot more participation; because it stirs up more competition, and a lot of the people i
Trying to understand love as an elemental force is difficult though, to say that love has to be what it is just as fire or lightning have no choice but to be exactly what they are as well. I hesitated to answer right away .. glad I did. My first impulse was to rattle off more of my own thoughts. After reflection and careful reading of what you pointed out, I feel much more comfortable saying something like this. Trying to understand love is not
The problem is you're assuming that it all just "happened" instantly Everything is a process. There are things that are not-changing long enough (to our senses) for us to rely on them as "Absolutes"; however no thing is absolutely an absolute. Everything changes. The speed at which everything changes, or it's probable distance in time, militates the use of abstract concepts such as "Absolutes" as a means of fitting something into the (incomplete) equation.<br
It seems to me that the idea of 'woops your going to hell because you didn't happen to pick the right religion' out of all the religions floating around seems a little unfair, but i do not worry too much about it because in the end, no matter what anyone said or did, Gods justice and God's fairness is perfect. Oh yes, I see whatcha mean. I think you or maybe someone in the other thread "why are we all atheists" almost got me to share this once before. I pers
You're all nuts. The Flying Spaghetti Monster is where its at. I'm stealing a line from my Emperor here (hope I don't get sent to hell ... again. It's worse than detention)... Ramen, Brother!
just fyi........an athiest is a person thats "beleif" is to not believe in christianity, atheism is not a religion nor is something u call urself when dont believe in anything, the purpose of calling ur self an atheist is to denote that u are AGAINST christianity and some athiests try to prove it wrong (good luck with that by the way) thats all if ur a person that doesnt beleive in any religion than u cant call urself anything... ur just you <
To top it off, these religous threads never die! So ... ah ... do you believe in reincarnation yet?
I respect your beliefs as well. But, as the OP indicated, one belief and following will lead to eternal Life - the other will not. Thank you. You obviously deserve my respect, since you thought about what I was trying to say with these pitifully inadequate words without going spastic (as do so many of those who secretly want to be God, and secretly seek the ultimate power through pretending to be part of a religion). I agree following one belief wil
Moving away from fossile fuels will happen with or without the global warming debate for no other reason then money or time. It saves us money and fossile fuels will run out. I hope so. ImhO, it should have happened at least fifty years ago, but was obstructed by those who profit from continued use of fossil fuels. In the U.S., we should have had efficient public transportation (PT) to at least rival the PT systems in Europe at least fifty years ago, as well.
Well, Moosetek13, I have to say I admire your spunk, and I'm not going to question your beliefs. I respect them, just as much as I respect Islam, Buddhism, and every other religion in the world, or off of it, or in between. I respect them all because I respect myself. Think about that, if you would. "Give unto Caesar those things which are Caesar's, and give unto God those things that are God's" I don't care, literally!, what country, religion, culture etc. anyone belongs to -
Mostly True, But we Christians should not give up because of that. Spreading the word is said to be like sowing seeds, so it may be years before a person might act on the message or not at all, but at least they have the message to begin with. What means nothing to you today, may end up having meaning at some point in the future, who knows? Yep. Evangelicals have no monopoly on that though, I might respectfully point out. That's just something
... and hellomeloveyoulongtime.... Boy, that brings back Mamories! Still laughing!
The purpose of the universe most likely cannot be explained with modern science, if with science at all. The easiest way to find purpose is to look within yourself. I tend to agree. I read a book last year ... I don't remember the title and etc. (apologies) It was about men and the various 'new' stresses they face in modern society, and how to cope and adjust more effectively. I do remember this part well ... the author advised a man to seek so
