There are a couple of things that you have to do to make your ships fly off the plane: 1)Use the move button. You can't do it with right-clicking. Either click the move button on the HUD, or use the hotkey (default is "D") 2)Move the move indicator (the triangle) to wherever you want your ship to end up with respect to the x and y directions (ie, on the plane). 3)Hold down the tilde ("~") key, on my keyboard this is also the "`" key. While holding it down, slide you

Hi plasmaron, What did you mean by this exactly? We need to be able to click on the text (hyperlink) for that planet when its name is splashed on the screen. Right now it takes quite a while to search for our planets out of hundreds across several star systems. When you get messages on the screen about a planet, usually it coincides with an event in the report window; those are clickable and will take you right to the planet. The less
Hey P5y, I was going to tell you to remap the z axis key to something easier for you, but I realized you can't currently remap it. You will be able to in the next patch. Cheers
I'm not going to respond to your main point (impartiality and all that) but I did want to point out that there IS z-axis control in the game. Maybe the tutorials should make it more obvious. Edit: Ergh. Tristan by a nose.
It's been fixed, but there hasn't been a new version put out since then, so it's still an issue in the latest version. I'm not sure when the next patch will be yet, but the fix will be available through SD central when it comes.
Sort of like ( this ).
Novalith, Your idea to have the alerts add the planets to the empire tree is actually quite close to how the alerts work in the new mode. As you click through the reports in the lower left, the relevant area shows up in the empire tree, have you played with this at all? The only difference is they are only there if you have the report selected (which I guess is the answer to when they get removed). freejefflove, You could glance at your front line planets easily if y
Thanks, ausmark, checking now...
I suspect you will see the AI playing a little differently soon
I've noticed static and crackling myself when I have a web browser open with youtube, or some other flash-based player going - likely some kind of conflict accessing the audio buffer. Any chance this is part of the problem? Do you usually run while other apps are running?
Hey Deionarra, Thanks for testing out the new mode Currently you can check your fleet status by hovering over the fleet number. If you have "show hotkey groups" on in the empire tree, hovering over the number will show you the infocard for that fleet. You can also select all the units of a certain type by holding alt and clicking on the ship icon - which is pretty easy if
So it sounds like you both use the empire tree to figure out where things are happening, so old mode is probably better for you. With the new mode, you have to rely more on the report windows to figure out what is going on around your empire, or zoom out. But you can get a little more control of what shows up in the empire tree. For instance, if you want to keep any of your "important" planets in a hotkey group (I use 0), you can easily check what's happening at them by sele
when you have subjects researching or being researched, they will show up on the infocard when you mouseover the research button. It will also show you their % complete. we just implemented this. then we went back in time and added it to the patch so that you can use it right now!
Hi all, Just wondering if people have tried the new empire tree mode (it can be enabled by setting "Selection Based Empire Window" in the user interface options). When this mode is on, the empire tree will show only the ships/planets you have selected and the planets where they are. It will probably be useful to those of you who find that the empire tree gets too cluttered after you've discovered too many planets, or that it jumps around too much. It may take a little getting
Version 0.76.018 - July 12, 2007: ------------------------------------------ + Completed fix for ships not attacking. + Fix for ship movement orders. + Research now makes upgrade progress on the first subject in the queue that is not stalled by lack of artifact ownership, lab tier requirements or any other reason. + When players are eliminated, so is their culture.
It might be interesting if you could buy off the bounty for double (or 1.5x) the price or something.
There is already a waypoint system in the game - if you hold down shift, you can queue up multiple orders (which can be move orders). I think this is covered in the tutorial, but I could be wrong.
overcool: could you zip the save game and email it to [email protected]? mention something in the email about corrupted save games. maybe we can figure out how it got corrupted, so it doesn't happen again.
I should be getting this pressure from the other AI players, not randomly spawning thugs who are after my shipping trade. Right now I've not seen the AI even launch 30 ships at me, but simply send repetitive lone frigates , sometimes cruisers over and over. The problem is that the AI is dealing with crazy pirate attacks as well and isn't as good at handling it. When he isn't getting mobbed, (or he gets better at handling it) he will be a

hey bootleg, welcome to Sins, and thanks for the feedback. we appreciate it all, even if Schem doesn't like the new threads (I think he's trying to cut back to 50 posts a day )
some of those concerns are definitely going to be addressed. several people have commented that some of the high-level research doesn't seem worth the $$$$. i have to say though: he's incorrect - there is 3d movement in the game which can be accessed by holding down the ~ key to adjust the height you want to move to (maybe this should go in the advanced tutorial). I believe the interface is functionally identical to Homeworld apart from using a different key.
does it keep happening if you restart/reboot?
::I just noticed that when I went to a new system, all the planets said that they were "-1 jump from home world." That's a known issue that I think is already on the fixed list.
