XP64 (XP Professional X64 Edition) was not intended for general use, but more for CG/VFX in the motion picture and television production industry. The advantage of 64 bit, is when using 64 bit applications: all that RAM is available to the application, instead of 2 to 3GB.
One way would be to save the scene, close Vue, load Vue, load scene and render.
Windows XP 64 has Program Files and Program Files (x86). The second is where 32 bit apps are installed. Vista 64 bit would be similar. The only program that I have, that is installed in Program Files, is Vue 6 Infinite 64 bit. Everything else is in Program Files (x86). You can install 32 bit and 64 bit apps in any order you want. You can run 32 bit programs under 64 bit Windows. However, you are stuck with 2GB address space per 32 bit program. You do need 64 bit drivers for your hardware. 16 bit won't work, including 32 bit programs packaged in 16 bit installers.
The thing with 64 bit 3D CG apps is the extra memory: not stuck with the 32 bit address space. Your CPU and renderfarm (if any) is what determines render speed at any given frame complexity. If you want to use Vue with 3DS Max, you will need xStream, which can be run in standalone mode (Infinite).
Money you earn yourself is less likely to be spent frivolously. Needs take priority over wants.
I have a CTX 19 inch DVI 4:3 on my win98se computer, and an acer 22 inch widescreen DVI on this computer. Both are perfect. The CTX cost $435 US plus shipping, and this one was $299 with free shipping. They suit my needs well.
My printers are off most of the time anyways, and the LaserJet does not have drivers for XP64 (have to reboot to XP32 to use it). At least with the inkjet, I can finish the printing before powering down, or avoid a jam in a momentary outage.

The UPS connected to this (primary) computer is a Geek Squad, and has both RJ15/RJ45 and Cable in/out connections. So I run the cable for Roadrunner through the UPS to the cable modem, then the ethernet cable from the modem to the UPS and up to the router. Under voltage, Over voltage, surge, and battery backup all in one. The only thing it can't handle, is my HP LaserJet.

Lightning can be a strange critter. I had one computer get nailed Twice. Both times it through the modem (phone line). Even with UPSes now, I still unplug everything when a strong lightning storm is going to pass overhead or nearly so.

Well, I watched the conclusion and found it fitting. I would not call it time Travel, but, a closed Time Loop instead. I think I will pre-order the DVD from aetv.com. This is more of a Terror film than a SciFi film, including the book. I read the book and saw the original film. If the scenario is too plausible, it is a Terror genre, which Dr. Crighton wrote.

Game developers have always used the current high end hardware. Whatever is current at the time. There was a time when PC hardware did not increase in performance at nearly the rate it does now.
Games require more computing power than most other applications. Things run more smoothly on a dual core processor.

Star Flight. First attempt was on my Tandy 2000, which did not work. The 2000 is MSDOS compatible, not true PC compatible. Second and first working try was on my Tandy 1400LT (2 FDD) which had a composite video out, which went to my VCR then to the TV. Certainly better than CGA 4 color. I think my second PC game was Pool of Radiance. I won that by accident, which really annoyed my roomie who had been trying for 3 years on his C64 for which he bought a $1200 external HDD.
