Alright well then on to the question of when does Paramount lose the sole control of the property? Because I can get behind the creator having the ip rights till he dies. I can get behind the creator having the rights to sell it off and both he and who he sells it to can profit off it for a reasonable amount of time. What I cannot get behind is due to the fact that a corporation is not a living entity and therefore not on a restricted lifetime (with the exception of misma

I have a question. Gene Rodenberry created Star Trek correct? So Techinically it is his IP correct? And he is Dead correct? Now assuming that the above three questions were anwsered as a yes... Does that mean Star Trek is now a free IP because the person who created it can no longer profit from it? Or does a company own the IP? If a company does own the IP, when will the IP considered free? Now I am not asking
Seriously wintersong, do you a schizophrenic Avatar or something. They are some truly amazing peices of work, but how often do they flip personalities, every 3 days? [e digicons][/e] p.s. wait.. no cat or feline reference there?
The diplomacy changes are mostly related to the AI. I have to have the AI do a decent job on that and I'm not in love with the traditional cheese in there. I'm almost inclined to eliminate some features in the diplomacy system because it becomes very hard not to cheese it (I've slowly been converted by the "no tech trading" camp).
I can see why.. Why would you want to lease you tech to your opponent, then have them make
Wait... What... we can actually send you personal messages and questions.... oh shit. Though curious. Would it be helpful if you released a set map (AI Meat Grinder) as a beta phase like you did in the last half of 1z to test the mechanics. We could play the hell out of the poor thing, comment on it's tactics and problems. Would that help build it faster? Don't get me wrong I cannot wait for graphical random maps finally. But if us doing a bit more time on static maps wo
Wow some some definite changes from our beta in there. Going to have to watch this video 3 or 4 timnes to try and grab the changes. Though the fact only the workshop is buildable from the looks of it without mats is an interesting one.
A very good point you make, Frogboy. Without a smart and challenging AI all the features, pretty graphics, editors, modding....None of it means anything if the game can't play as a "game". Take all the time you need with the AI. Bring in help if need be. Push it back till Feb if need be. We'll be here supporting you and Stardock either way. Besides, if you push it back till Feb, just think of all the other cool stuff you can cram into th
I beleive it runs on it's own servers, so steam or impulse should make no difference.
Actually speaking of MoO2 I have seen a LordCobol running around here. I am wondering if he is the same LordCobol that did the 1.41 MoO2 Dosbox patch. And if he is i have a few questions for him.
Okay I am confused. I know you guys said a holiday release was not possible because it was booked? Obviously I am not in marketing lol. But why, what does booked mean, is it that your factory cannot develop the tangible products during that season, the retailers can't/won't accept it then, All you folks are busy getting drunk off spiked egg nog ;-p? I am just wondering what the semi-specifics (if you can't go into detail) of why it is either Summer or Febuary (Shudde
Ahhh yes but should a dragon be more powerful than a sovereign?

I wonder....which game will have the strongest modding capabilities.... Elemental ? OR StarCraft II ? This feels like a unique time in the history in PC gaming when both strategy camps get their ultimate game. And BOTH games will have the best mod
Ok my concern is about balance. what has been our favorite scream..... Food and Housing!!!!! Do you not anticipate the balance issue taking that long to nail down. Also there are still alot of ideas we are kicking around the forum, the latest being the research point and build start issues which all lead up to the tech tree. Which I know some of us consider needing some serious work. So my question is I guess are we past the point of major changes to the m
Screw that, So what if the AI isn't completely up to snuff. there is alot we need/want to look over besides that. Balance, mechanics, bugs. Bring it on, just patch in the AI improvements as we go. Not like we haven't been playing with a nerfed AI for a while anyways, what is another week on that.
Personally at this point I don't care if the world is done in pastels. As long as it it gets us off this damn cloth map and gets us some sort of color/animation/graphics they can all look like smurfs. Bah no Beta 2 today. Think my disapointment is obviously showing. I want to tear nto the engine and start seriously start adressing balance and spell/building/research mechanics.
Is it tommorow yet?
You know frogboy. If you turned these toys loose a little early and set up a submission area in the forums or site. You guys would probably get some truly amazing things that could be added in pre release. Hell thinking about people like Raven you would probably have almost 2 new expansion ready before release.
Quoting CapnWinky, reply 5 Same old stuff.. For the locals, yeah. For noo newcomers out there, not. We need "Special Usual Stalkers Edition" articles for those of us who spend too much time here (lurking or not).
Fixed
Yeah honestly the volcano Idea scares me. While iI have no problem witht he concept per se. I would hate to see my capitol city just wiped of the map from a player on the other side of the map with no chance to foil it. My armies not so much, annoying but they can be rebuilt.
I bought Settlers 7. Had a service interuption one day for 12 hours. Couldn't Play Settlers 7 I will never buy a Always on DRM game again. While I support their attempts to try and protect their property. I cannot support this method.
" Yes I intend to win in Beta 2 Multiplayer" Just can't decide whether to rip it apart for bugs and ideas solo or in MP first.
Cloth Map pffft Thats like having cake with no frosting. While I will place the bulk of the importance on the engine. Pretty matters.
Well my problem was I had 4 gigs of ram plus another gig of video ram. Add to that the 4 gig I have in my garage that I hadn't bother putting in yet thanks to 32 bit capping me at 3 gigs after video. The upgraded OS is a rather large boost to my rig.
Quoting Saije, reply 20 The more tech the better! If I can reach 5000 turns and still have stuff to research I'll consider that impressive. Stay away from MP then. No way in hell will you last 5K Turns in a MP Match against me. (challenged)
Why will we have killed you by turn 2000? [e digicons]B)[/e]
