Actually current studies show that seeing and acting out violance increases the chance of experiencing agressive feelings. Not to mention that with games becoming more and more realistic they are becoming training engines for anyone who ever wishes to know how to kill someone. Another fact is that playing violent video games is corelated with later violent behavior and delinquency. Although games will probably not be banned here in the US, seeing as it will violate several parts of the
Tibet isn't being ignored in the same way, but world leaders look at what doing something about it would cost and decide that people "over there" aren't worth it. Most Americans might like to protest about it, but ask them what they're willing to give up in order to do something about it? The enthusiasm wanes when people realize that telling China to play nice won't actually be enough to solve the problem, and real action (which carries real cost) is required.
I think t

Over 1.4 million ethnic Tibetans have died since the Chinese occupation of Tibet in the 50s. Since that occupation the world has known that this place is the site of some of the worst autrocities of human violence and repression. Thousands still suffer today, dieing in the streets of Lhasa for freedom and independence. China once again bringing out its arsenal to squash these rebellions, just like in 1959. Will the Tibetan's die in vain this time? Or will the world finally hear their protests

You see I didn't start this for any purpose but discussion. When it did seem that people could not stick to the main topic and would rather prefer to pick apart each other religious views I just left this thread alone. I don't have the time to pick out the post that are worth responding too and those that are plain false, or lacking... thought. Still its nice to read peoples views.

Great, great posts guys. I wish I had the time to deconstruct them and continue argueing. Just dropped in to say that this is an arguement about whether ID should be taught in schools. It is not an arguement about if religion is right or wrong, neither is it an arguement about the influence religion has on modern society. So please keep down the personal attacks, and also don't make pointless posts that make no contribution to the subject. Also please don't pay attention to posts that c
Intelligent Design is derived from the Bible and Christian Fundamentalist Doctrine. Science has a place in schools; religion does not.
This is not necessarily true. Though it has its roots in the Bible, Intelligent Design is more then that. Plus they aren't saying that they are teaching it as a religious study, but as a logical one. Quite a few school districts have already defined scientific learning as a study of logical explanations for occurances, therefor

There has been a lot of movement lately to once again start teaching Intelligent Design in schools. Many mainstream educators think that science should be redifined as to what is logical, rather then what is actually true. The media has played along to this in different forms. One of the forms was the new movie Expelled which show cases quite a few powerful points as to why Intelligent Dsign deserves to be taught in schools. Not only does it bring to light problems with the Theory of

Gosh dude, calm down. There aren't that many people that post to the meta, and those who do don't necessarily keep running threads. I for one know many small and large empires that you did not include on your list that still do contribute scores to the Meta. If you want a measure of activity, go to the Altmeta.

Well we did put "Geckos are delicious" as one our main agenda points, but I didn't even think that it was offensive. Actually I didn't even know whats going on, because for a while I thought most people did like Seth, but I guess that was wrong. Still trolling has been minimal in this community, but I believe that one such things happen it is best to take a morel light hearted stance on the issue and just move on.
