I think Galaxies, should have included some fps action along with the rpg stuff. I think there is a place for the point value combat but its not as cool as actually making a kill or blasting off a guys arm like in the movies. Lol. The grind of the game sucks and makes playing more a chore then a fun play time.

I've played the 1.08 demo, I think the game is ok, smaller galaxies then in Galciv, and more complexity, er choices to choose from rather. More to do. Not sure if it's a better gameplay exprience. The graphics are using an older engine that is for sure but the tactical combat actually looks as good as Galciv2, and it's actually there for tactics not just show. Mp isn't available in the demo and from what I can tell the way they have implemented MP in the actual retail release isn't really what I

The first post, about how they attacked and then surrendured. Do you think a human player would ever do that? Even a kid playing who just got sick of the game? That's so lame of the AI.

In it's current form I'd rather see it done away with cause it pulls you away from the rest of the play and for reasons really insignificant anyway. I mean random events when they occur take about 1/5 the time that the voting does and the meanings of random events are just as powerful as the events brought up at the UP. Not only that but unless you have uber influence you usually lose the vote. The lack of interaction is the biggest thing about it I don't like. The second biggest is th

The depth of the espionage as well as sabotage in GalCiv2 isn't very deep at all. The game is somewhat complicated but in this particular area not all at. It would be cool to have some acutual choices to be made and some variable level of skills/resources necessary to actually crack another empire's counter spy agency. In GalCiv2 there appears to be no counter intelligence operation at all. Every time I set the espionage slider one tick over, I do this for each race, every single race is discove

Morale is planetary wide and approval is the weighted average of those values. I think. Basically Approval gives you an average number but in order to see your range you need to know the morales of each planet. Its very probably you'll have a few planets above your approval level and below. As your planet increases in population morale falls. You need entertainment facilities to boost approval, otherwise if those number continue to fall you could loose a planet to another civ via influe

Ok good late breaking news, I just checked the site, they have updated the 1.08 demo version. It better work or I'm going to have a massive fit. I'll be reporting back on it for anyone who is interested in my thoughts or observations. ---- Demo version 1.08 is a go, works on my system no bugs no problems no tweaks, thus far, interface looks complicated as hell though. I'll have more to say about it later on perhaps tomorrow. ---- The interface is about twice as c

I think people, that is players of the game more specifically, are under the impression that the retail release is just a late beta, and that improvements are constantly underway and that they will be supported until the program lives up to the hype/personal expectations of the people playing it right now. But you are correct, as of right now there is no justification for reviewers giving this program a pass in it's current form. I'd love to get ahold of a cracked copy of the game just

Well I believe it was the President who was originally elected under the ideas of uniting rather then dividing, and measuring with objectives and setting goals and having accountability. Well that the uniting rather then dividing certainly is working out well isn't it? I'd say about as well as trying to be President of the United States re-invading a country, and then trying to not nation build. It's so hillarious its sad, and of course this is all true too. How about firing the CIA ch

The objective seems to be changing, slightly, at least the description changes. First it was riding Iraq of WMD, and elminating the safehaven for Al-Qi-KillsR-US-Da, and enforce UN resolutions. We were spending a few billion a year on maintaining the security of region by keeping a carrier in the gulf and basically keeping the situation unchanged from 1992 on. Then it became mission accomplished/complete, lets go home, or onto the next theatre of operations. Plans to leave, i

This would be a fast and simple solution to expanding depth in the area, good job SD. I like it! If you guys ever do MP this would be perfect for that.

I will confirm as of 10/26/06, the are still show stopping issues reported, as well as general frustration in their community. As soon as I found out there was a MP type of galciv game, I checked it out. Their demo which is a pre 1.0 ver release I guess is crap, well at least for me, since I had two rain-out-the-show issues one which I fixed only to encounter another "access violation" that prevents me from even making it to the splash screen. This is the demo. How do they expect anybody to know

I think the ones with Joan Cusack selling phones are awful I hate her lol. You guys are right about being intellilectuasziuallyfsly being so turned off by a commercial as to actual retain a negative image of the product because of that. Marketers need to stop doing these stupid commercials, that keep this in peoples head's. It's great to have a commercial that sticks, cause it's slightly annoying or but it's totally better to have one that sticks because it's clever or catchy or just i

Looks like economy sizes are going to be kick ass compared to how it plays now, not only are we getting lower main. rates early on but as you grow higher per pop income via taxes, means if you dont spend a ton upgrading a planet you'll be brining in a lot of income on those middle class worlds. Gonna make for a faster expansions early on.

I use a about 2-5% of my military resources per turn, building my sensor/intelligence gathering system. Basically the first part of it is a large utility hull ship, load it up with engines and one or two sensors, send it out to the perimeter of the empire, later in the game as the action starts to heat up, upgrade the design but keep the original design, build the first design with fast engines and out in the field upgrade them to the new design which is largely sensors, with few engines, that w

I love comment number 4, "Borders should be more sacred." Yes, I agree, lets put a gigantic concrete wall option in the game sorta like the one we aren't building between Mexico and the United States, lets keep out all the scouts from other empires and trade craft. LOL. Goober.

I've tried to get the demo going, cause it is MP, but it is a buggy mess, so much so that I cannot even get it to work which is BS. Speaking of Space Empires 5, or V, which I am of course, the demo, downloads and installs but there is supposedly an mp3 file that plays in the beginning and makes the screen go blank and just sit there blank, so you have to turn off some stupid sound setting from true to false, just to get it to not sit at the blank screen, then you don't even get to the splash scr
