Okay, now everything makes sense. Thank you, mormegil! Do you know offhand the formula for calculating the number of parsecs in a sector, given the number of parsecs along one side?
3r^2 - 3r + 1

Hi, if you PM me your Email address I can send you Midnight's ship packs.
Not much to consider actually: - make sure that the race you use in the game has the same ship-style you designed your custom ship with (e.g. Terran, Drengin ...) - you have to start a new game before the ship is usable, just loading a previously saved game won't do (that's because all available ships are included in the savegame file) - be aware that if you have attached functional components (weapons, defences, engines, modules etc.) to your custom ship you have to r
They were created by Rabid_Monkey a long time ago for the original GC2: Dreadlords and thus will not work with Twilight of the Arnor. So if your playing ToA don't bother.
I really did like that old style. If you fixed those old ships for TA, I would delete all of mine and use yours
Well, I PLAN to fix them eventually. But I can't promise anything. Rebuilding an existing ship from scratch is such a huge pain-in-the-ass... Just wanted to note that those old ship designs of mine are broken in Twilight of the Arnor right now (they should work in Dark Avatar or Dread Lords though). They look totally messed up. And you CAN'T change their hull type since the #6 hull didn't exist back when I created them. If you play ToA you might want to try my new ship-pack that I released a few weeks ago, just look for the thread in the modding forum. Midnightrunner also has uploaded two big new wing commander ship
Fourth warship set. Here I tried a more rounded hull shape, the "submarine look".
@ Croc411, This is your ship from DA that I like so much had to tranfered it to ToA, but when I did, the engines were so wrap and missing parts, I had to spend 4 to 6 hours getting it to look this, a Spore-Killer Frigate. It is not like your orginal but I did my best so what do you think?
This is the old 01 corvette, right? Well, cons
The third warship set. For this one I wanted to build ships with the bridge at the stern and the engines on the sides. I'm quite pleased with the result. Nice Midnight, very nice! I hope you'll release them soon.
For some utility ships it is a good idea to use hulls smaller than the cargo one (as soon as you have researched the needed miniaturization), since they are cheaper and quicker to build. This generally applies when speed is not an issue and you don't have to put engines on the ship. A typical case are the spore ships. Cargo hull: <b
Some utility ships (cargo hulls). For the second warship set I attached some of the sharp and pointy parts to the usual hull. Hehe, Darth G... errr ... Drengin! Nice to see that some GC2 dinosaurs are still around. [e digicons][/e]
Phew! Finally done with the new ship-pack. Since library upload is still broken, I made a new thread over in the modding forum. Go there for pics and download links.
Hi all, I made a new ship-pack, naval-style again. Since the library upload is still down, I created this threat to provide download links and pictures. I will put them in the library as soon as the upload is up again. The pack contains 42 ships - 18 warships (in 4 sets), 21 utility ships based on cargo, small and tiny hulls and 3 support ships intended for carrying fleet modules. Here is a low-res .jpg of all the included ships for quick overview: http:/
Nope, I haven't fixed my old designs yet. The problem is that for most of them this would mean setting up another computer (i. e. my notebook) with an old GalCiv2 version next to my main PC and recreating them from scratch (by tearing apart the old design to figure out how I built it). I already did that once with a ship consisting only of 20 parts and yet it felt like a pain in the ass. I shudder at the thought of rebuilding something with 100+ parts this way. :) Then t
Hi there, looking forward to your ship-pack, PubMaster. Happy to hear that people are still making ship-packs for ToA. I am also working on one (navy style again) that I plan to release in a few weeks.
In one of my suicidal game, where I tried a trade whoring, and generated max number of minors, I saw a minor civ with a colonizer. The letzlandians often colonize other planets in thier system on my game. So this bug is already known. Did this happen to you only in DA 1.6 or also in older versions? Maybe they were traded the ship? No, because then it wouldn't be
Just started a new game and went ahead with my colonization business when suddenly I saw something that made me almost fall from my chair: The Paulos, a minor race, had a colony ship! And it was heading straight towards the secondary plane
I don't know why people always get the idea that black holes suck everything in. They don't suck in stuff anything more than any other celestial body with the same mass. What makes a black hole a black hole is that anything that crosses the event horizon has no chance to ever get back. In other words: if the Sun magically turned into a black hole overnight, we would notice ZERO difference gravity-wise here on Earth. You would only experience a dramatic increase in gravity if you got nea
*** Deleted my previous post because it seems to not bear any significance anymore *** Errm... I just found out that you simply have to rename the .shipcfg file with a different race-style prefix. So, to make Human style ships available to races using Drengin style, go to your ..\[your user name]\MyDocuments\My Games\GalCiv2\ships directory, open the .shipcfg file with a text editor and save it under a new name with the prefix changed to the new race style. This works at l
Please check out my reply to this post: WWW Link If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask. Looking forward to your designs - IMHO we should have WAY more people submitting ship packs to the library.
Supernovae, eh? Did you know that we haven't had one in the milky way since 1604? Yup, not a single one during 400 years amongst half a trillion stars or so. So much for a veeeeery rare event. Drives our astronomers crazy.
If you made the ships with the in-game designer there are only two files that make up a ship: an .xml and a .shipcfg file. They can both be found where the save games etc. are stored, the default is AFAIK C:\Documents and Settings\[your user name]\My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ships (and of course this is also the place where people using your ships need to extract them to). You will recognize your ship files by their file names. Make sure that you include the right .shipcfg files. Note
