I voted "No". Don't give me multiplayer, give me better AI! I sometimes walk away from my turn in the middle to go do something (sometimes even go watch some TV). I play the game for hours at a time, and occasionally need a break. The last thing I'd want is to be playing against someone else and have them do the same. So then you'd have to introduce time limits, but it can be really annoying when I'm at a "next... next... next..." part o

That wouldn't be fun what so ever. If you scroll down fast it looks like its going the opposite way, kinda like if you try to stare at a fan and then blink. Dude, that's AWESOME!
In my game, the "Xeno Ethics" tech was stolen, requiring me to immediately choose an alignment. If I wanted to choose an alignment, I would have researched the tech myself. Instead I was forced to either go evil for 0bc (since I was leaning evil) or pay money to go Neutral or Good. I didn't want any of those options, but I couldn't get away from it since researching the tech requires that you use it... (Specifically I wanted Neutral, but didn't wan
Plus there's the Luck factor. Does your race have Luck? (I think there is only one option for luck, +25%.) Maybe the Drengin don't but you do? How easily are you winning these battles? Do you just have 50 or 100 or so soldiers left afterwards, or are you winning by large margins? Also, what is the happiness of the planets you are attacking? If I recall correctly, planet morale plays into how well the planet will fight (I know that the "Informati
If you had only defence modules on a SB, it couldnt ever dmg anything. You have to have at least one attack for any chance to win. It would be pointless to put defence on a SB before any offence. That might be why the designers chose to deny the player that option. Just in case the player didnt understand combat. </TABLE
I like to get 6-9 constructors at a time, run them into an area, turn one constructor into a mil starbase with the most overlap of planets/significant areas I can find, and then add modules with the remaining constructor ships. The first constructor is +1 attack for the starbase for everything (mandatory before you can put defensive modules???), the second is +5 defense in whatever the primary weapon is for whatever enemy I'm trying to take out, and t
From what I recall, at levels above "Normal", there is no -2000 bc limit. Or maybe this is changing with 1.1. I've never tried to do it, but I know that I've read that there is no longer a cap.
but so far I've documented seventeen crashes (haven't bothered reporting them to MicroSoft... waste of time) Why don't you report them to Microsoft? Believe it or not, Microsoft actually forwards that information on to the company who made the product, if the company has at least told Microsoft "yes,
- i want to be able to build buildings of a lower tech level. i.e. basic farms when i dont want to spend the resources to build a high-tech farm I don't, it would clog up the interface too much. A lot of people dislike this idea. Maybe a right-click on the building could generate a menu of
It was always available in 1.0. In the mini-map, there are a whole bunch of icons to put in things you can see and not see on the minimap. One of them is the colors of the races of the territories they own. This was initially off for me, and so I had no idea where any of the races were.
Although, civilizations can surrender to other civilizations, effectively giving the entire population of the remaining planets over to the new civilization. So you only kill them off via genocide if you invade all of their planets. At some point, after they lose enough planets, they just surrender, and they even say something like "our only hope for survival is your mercy" or something like that.
I'd like the option to have a mature galaxy where all the colonization has already been done, and the planets divided up evenly with basic techs and building already done. I like that!
I've had the AI stop being at war with me without me knowing. I declared war on them by attacking their military and influence star bases. They sent fleet after fleet to take me out, and I easily destroyed every attacking fleet. Some time later, after I hadn't seen any ships come towards me for a while, they built an economy starbase next to my military starbase that I was using to pump up my ships down in their territory. I attacked it, and I was
Yes, I'm pretty sure they give cumulative effects. BTW, prior to launching an attack, I shoved about 9 constructors way deep into enemy territory, escorted by just a couple of small ships. Found a place where the reach of the military starbase would cover three colonized planets. As soon as I was in position, in one turn I created the military base, upgraded it with each of the constructors, giving me +5 defense on the starbase for all cat
It is a "usability bug". It is something that can cause indesired side effects, such as selecting a ship to build, but having another ship built instead. That is certainly a bug. It doesn't matter that you were warned. The simple fact is that a ship chosen to be built is not being built, and another ship is being built instead. BUG. Make it so that the ships are not keyed off of names but instead something else. Then you can have as ma
If it causes problems, it should be prevented. Simple. (Note: the game is smart enough to check to give you a warning. Why not just do the easy thing and instead of popping up a warning, just pop up a dialog that tells you that you can't do that, and then don't let it happen?)
Sorry, Oldstatesman, but you are wrong. If the game will experience issues because of it, do not allow that to happen. It is not acceptable to say "don't do this". Either prevent it from the game or fix the issues that happen when you do it. Either: 1. Pop up a message that says "You cannot name a new ship the same name as an existing design. Please enter a new name." 2. Pop up a message that says "You cannot name a n
The button changes from "Turn" to "Skip" if you have not enabled "skip reamining moves". You have to either skip each ship that has moves left, or move them some more. If the button is not changing to "Skip", then it's another issue.
Population and taxes are always negatives -- the higher the population or the higher the taxes, the less morale your people will have. Buildings and planet quality give you some of the morale points back. If you want to get their morale up, you need to give them morale boosters. So you need to research the "Entertainment" tech tree. Give them 0-G stadiums, etc... There are other things that will give you morale boost as well -- there's a
Apparently he grew up (I use that term loosely) in a time when everything is instant satisfaction. Have some patience man. If you want the game *now*, go make some phone calls and find out what game store near you has it, ask them to hold it, and go pick it up. Or put in a special order at the store. You know that they have better contacts to get the game in a hurry -- directly from a warehouse. In this day of broadband, you can download

I alos see your system memory being reported a s 504MB - this is a bit strange - usually it is 512MB - or a value dividable by 32. You may want to run a mem test to see if you ahve a bad stick - that would definately cause issues. That's not strange at all. Onboard video cards usually use system memo
I find it's a good idea to get as many colonies as you can at the beginning, but don't necessarily start producing things with those colonies. So while I'll buy a factory on my home planet right away, I won't buy factories on the colonized planets. Each turn for the first 4-5 turns, I'll buy a colony ship and send it on it's way. You can also colonize from already colonized worlds -- if you don't have any colony ships nearby when you colon
I don't remember seeing it in the changelist either... I just stumbled on it in the options. In options, click on the Interface tab. The last option under "Ship Designer" is "Remove Functional Components When Upgrading a Ship Design." The default is checked. Just uncheck it. (Maybe it was there in 1.0 but I just missed it?)
3. When you go to upgrade a ship, I would like it to stay the way it was before I start changing it. Right now, everything but the hull disappears, and you start from scratch. What if I want to just upgrade the engines or something? Maybe have a screen where you can just say to upgrade the engines, and they are then placed where
