The graphics and textures in TA are much, much better than those in the original Dread Lords release. If you're not seeing high detail textures you either have some graphics settings turned off or are experiencing some other kind of technical problem.

Shelf real estate is expensive and TA's a niche game. I think more and more the PC game market's going to move to digital distributions. The Gamestop/EBgames people seem to be doing everything they can to drive PC games out of brick and mortar stores altogether.
I'd like to think that any respectable online distributor (and Stardock is certainly that) would, in the event of their untimely corporate demise, release the activation stipulations on their games.
The AI is significantly improved in TA, time to drop down a difficulty level or two. :D
Sorry to hear about the sting. Since you keep honey bees, do you have any ideas on why they seem to be disappearing in the wild?
I just pray I don't get the speed limit event. I usually have tech victory turned off
That. Would. Rule. :D I mean seriously, set everything to rare and get that event and it's literally Ender's Game.
I did uninstall and delete the proper directories and reinstalled. The create custom opponents and create custom ship styles are still greyed out. Also seems if I run through the setup screens then back out to the main menu the Metaverse and Tournaments buttons are greyed out. I have to restart the game to get them back.
Another "me too" for this symptomatology.
Carl Sagan was a singularly fantastic voice. If you found the video interesting, you'd probably be well served to have a look at his other work.
Its gotta be a setting. I just have to figure out which one it is and tell you guys. I'm going to go to bed soon but we'll have something worked out tomorrow.
The mere fact that you're trying to correct something that is, at best, a minor inconvenience on the night you released the game is why you've got such a loyal fanbase, you know. Go get some sleep for god's sake, we don't want you cranky. :D
The tech trees, and the resultant improvements and ship components, are probably the single most major new feature IMO. Then again, no feature is worth much of anything if there's not a kick ass AI to play the game with...
Uninstalled, deleted directory, purged the lot, re-installed via SDC, button still greyed out. Going back to "Pick Your Civilisation Screen" as described earlier in the thread still works for me if I select the Custom Icon, and I can still attach the required Custom attributes. Then on the last screen the Custom Icon is in the opponents list and I can select and use. "Create Custom Opponent button" on last screen still greyed out when doing the 'workaround'.RegardsZy
D
"Also, one thing everyone should be careful to do is if they had the beta, to delete the gc2twilight directory in my documents\my games so that your settings are fresh. "
That I hadn't done, trying a reinstall now.
you have to uninstall the beta?-Dave
https://forums.galciv2.com/310227
Did you remember to uninstall the beta?
Yup, uninstalled the beta, then deleted the Twilight folder completely just to be sure.
For me it works. Are you sure you disabled "show pre-release versions" in SD cedtral and did download the correct version? (not the release candidate which has a [rc] in its version number)
I can create a custom race to play myself, but the "create new opponent" button on the opponent selection screen is greyed out. You're saying your "create new opponent" button is working?
How the hell did I miss that? I just checked and mine's grayed out too.
Run it windowed (uncheck "full screen" in options) and you won't have that problem, GC2's never been a stable alt-tab game in full screen. You can even run "windowed" with your full screen resolution and the game will look full screen but allow you to tab back and forth smoothly.
This may be the only time I ever uninstall GC2 or its expansions.
You only need to uninstall TA, Cari explicitly mentions that DL and DA can be installed and should be updated.
Yup, just saw Cari's post myself.
To verify: The only component that needs to be uninstalled is the actual TA beta, DA and DL can just be updated from their current state, correct?
Actually we want people to unisntall the betas just to be safe.
Thanks, that's worth knowing. You might want to place a note to that effect somewhere more prominent.
Oh well, Afternoob GMT 0 or Est?
Probably PST.
MP provides "staying power" for a select group of people, those with a large amount of gaming time to spend in large blocks that happens to coincide with the gaming time available to other people with whom they enjoy playing. To say that a minority of gamers fit this category would be a laughable understatement. To the rest of us, a game that has been developed solely for single player and as such has the best AI and the most versatility possible for a game of its type has massively more
I've been asking you to do this for years! Ever since GCII this has been the biggest disappointment with GC2.What I'd want for $9.95: (I'd pay $15-$20 though)Redone UP- I'd be willing to help with ideas.Redone events systems- have some political events where party matters.Have the ability to switch political parties either as a bad or good thing in-gameIs this feasible? The Redone UP would be a $9.95 type thing and the redone events/political system would be a second $9.95. [/q
