This has been a great read thus far, hope to see it continue. Having been playing a lot of Civilization V recently, this AAR really helps me appreciate how much more diplomatic manoeuvring you do in Gal Civ 2. What difficulty is this game on?

Just a request, but it'd be nice to have a panel on-screen which shows the current warscore and level in the top right along with the conquest panel.

The manual includes a clear description of the skirmish difficulty levels but nothing for the tournament mode. Is there anywhere which provides a similarly clear description of the levels for tournaments?

Impulse is telling me there is an update for LogonStudio Vista but when I hit the Update button I am told I need to enter my registration details. Well, since this is a free product I don't have any. Sure, I could download the package, but then what's the point of Impulse? Is there a workaround for this?

This is the era of dirt cheap memory, and frankly I'd rather the app ran and silently updated without me ever needing to intervene because my time is more valuable than a few pounds 2GB of memory costs. However, if I am going to have to continually launch Impulse to keep checking on updates, I'd rather I had the option to tell it to just get on with it once launched.

I think you're missing the point of my post. I know how to disable it, but if you're the kind of person who doesn't then you're the kind of person for whom it shouldn't have been enabled in the first place. And unless Stardock wishes to support betas why is it on by default, especially when posts in the forums from Frogboy and other Stardock members advise people not to grab the beta unless they're willing to accept a less stable or problematic experience, but currently you're not accepting it,

Everything which causes UAC to be triggered should be marked with a UAC shield. Currently, under Windows Vista, the Change button in the Program Location area causes a UAC prompt, but the button is not marked to indicate this will occur. As far as I understand the UAC guidelines all buttons which trigger UAC should be so marked. Also, it appears that once you have provided UAC credentials to make one change, you are then authorised for all further changes within that window. Is that inten

By default Impulse is downloading Alpha/Beta versions of updates. I'm not sure whether this is the default state for Impulse, or a carry over from my SDC account, but either way it should not be the default setting. In the case of SDC carry over it should be remembered that for a very long time SDC had "Download Alpha/Beta releases" on by default, a checkbox which I'm sure has been the cause of one than one support ticket to Stardock. More sensible surely to disable this, and thus people

Currently I can't see a way to update which doesn't involve switching to the update tab and clicking to install all updates in turn. Frankly, one of the advantages I have always seen in Steam was that it could quietly run in the system tray updating my apps as and when without me ever giving it a second thought. Since Stardock doesn't seem to want to go this route, can we at least have an option to automatically apply detected updates? In addition an "Install All" button for those who wan

There is an issue (as I consider it) with Impulse when it opens a new window. It doesn't focus on it. This means that if you should, say, open an update's history you cannot use your mousewheel to scroll through the history without first clicking on the window, yet since this window has already stolen the foreground from Impulse this should not be necessary.

The tutorial tells you to order your fleet to phase jump to the nearby world, presumably the one with the question mark. You can use the move order or right-click. I right-click the world, my fleet phase jumps on over and a few enemy ships move into range... ...however the tutorial message never changes and neither my ships nor the enemy will fire on one another.

They found that the universe isn't infinite, and that it's imploding. They're heading towards the core to escape their inevitable doom, hoping to research a system which allows them to escape the bubble, which is why they have so much advanced travel tech.

@Wyndstar I thought defence was rolled just like attack. Is it really static? I'm sure that's not right. The only point I'm confused on is whether it's correct that an attack can be from 0-max while defence is from 1-max. Anyone know for sure?
