No win32 means no apps. Everything is launched by Copilot and Edge, supposedly replacing W11 w/o a start menu, etc. Everything is web based. The computer revolution started with everything on the computer. Now? Everything will be on the web. IFF this goes forward. As I stated, I also doubt it will. I can't help but wonder if all this will be helped by the AI RAM crunch.

A psychopath can often decide whether to lie, manipulate, steal, exploit someone, or refrain from doing so. No one's saying this is an immediate, actual MS planned OS, nor is any of this proof it will be. It could be "just tossing an idea around". Or, it could just be MS tossing a cat in, among the pigeons. It's kind of strange to create an OS and not consider it for use, or further development, but MS is a strange place. It's also a strange way to drum up business among folks already angry about AI and data centers. From Arthur Kay's gHack's article (see external link above):</

I can certainly agree Classic was never a theme. It was, at best, oatmeal: Bland and blah. I applaud it as I applaud any and every skin. An artist or a group got together to improve what we get with Windows. I also agree that Jafo's obstinacy is admirable. For the life of me I can't abide thowing away a perfectly operational OS. If MS wants to "improve" or diversify, fine. I think we should be allowed choice and be provided mainainance...but that's just my opinion. I do

[quote who="SilverSage" reply="4146001" id="516097"] Microsoft dropped the Classic option after Windows 7, and the only route back is a third party skinning engine, so you end up paying to restore something you used to have for nothing. Just because you didn't see the price tag does not mean it was free. In fact, the
I asked ChatGPT your question and got the following response: "If you mean Rainmeter skin: yes. You can build a Rainmeter skin as an all-in-one skin—for example, one package/skin that contains the clock, weather, system meters, CPU/RAM, drives, network, shortcuts, media controls, etc. If you mean one single .ini file, that's also possible, although for a complex skin it's usually better to have several measures/meters organized into separate files and use #Include files.

Weather's a bit better...but promises to become hot and sticky again. My September's desktop is Galaxus 7 both WB and Winstep. Wallpaper is one from the web which I altered a bit. Very much looking forward to JuniorCrooks's new app as well as c242's. Some new blood and energy for skinning! Hope you all are enthusiastic, as well! I'm also happy about Winstep's plans for the long awaited skinning module and the release of Winstep 26.8!
