How is this one coming?

Skyjack...I may be wrong but that is what we are talking about here....GalCiv III
Reach for the Stars and Sword of Arogon I believe it was called.
Regarding the tactical battles. I entered this on another thread. It's just an idea but would love to get feed back. This would be for GalCiv III NOT GALCIV II: I was thinking of a limited tactical combat as well but would take it a bit further. Most people who are gasindt tactical combat say it would be either too long to play or that the AI could not be cha
I was thinking of a limited tactical combat as well but would take it a bit further. Most people who are gasindt tactical combat say it would be either too long to play or that the AI could not be challenging. I would propse the following: Add a tech in the tech tree called War College or Tactical Command. Once that has been researched, add tactical battle planning module much like the ship designer. Here you would actually create battle formations and battle assignments for each
I think you guys are selling the devs short on what they could do with tactical combat (does anyone really agree on what that term means anyway with regard to THIS game and how it would be implemented?). Many of the features we have today people did not think possible on the first GALCIV so all of this "the sky is or will fall" if tact ical combat is added in the next version is a bit premature.
My vision of tactical battles would not be he micromanagement that so many of you are afraid of (which laser to shoot, which gun to shoot at, etc.). I think the best tactical model I have ever seen is in Combat Mission. It allows you to plot your moves and then play a 1 minute movie play back. The system, in most cases, will shoot and defend on it's own based on where you order your troops to move. The AI in that game is pretty good and uses the system very well IMO. I think that type of batt
Yeah I know...I noticed that once I put it up....oops! Although the discussion is about the "Poll"...I am almost afraid to ask about others "pole" results.
I for one would love to see tactical battles and voted so but I must admit that so far at least, others seem to be voting that way as well. My assumption, based on the threads I have read, was that most people did not want that feature.
I agree. They are the only race not in the regular game play
I play as the Ichtarians, a humanoid/fish race. The Ichtarians are naturally aggressive as they constantly identify their own territories and defend them to the death. They are not hell bent on taking over the entire galaxy but they like their room. Every so many years when spawning occurs, war is declared on any race who seems to get "too close" to our spawning planets. The Ichtarians believe that large "schools" of smaller ships provide the most security but the ruling family owns several
So do you guys not worry too much about spending most of your initial cash in building colony ships? I have been having the same type of problems in terms of getting beat up early because I have no real defence. The reason is that I spent most of my cash building colony ships so I can get as many planets as possible in an attempt to jump start my economy and then build a massive fleet. That has been my plan anyway...I have only won once doing that. Most of the time I end up living hand to m
Just an update for me...i tried again this AM and it downloaded fine but only if i clicked on the update buttons on stardock. If left to update via the update button from the game (which initiates the auto-update), i got the error.
same here. can't update. says my serial is wrong.
cool beans...I suggested this weeks ago in the forum and everyone shot it down or in this case...never replied or commented. Link I had no hope that we would ever see something like this in ANY game. When this thing is out...I will be the first to purchase.
Normal...can beat that pretty easily but if i move up to challenging..I get my but kicked...so I try both depending on my current self-image.
Well, look for freighters...I almost overlooked them because i did not know they would be armed.
Yes. Internally. The thinking is that in a future expansion to have initiative. It would be on a ship by ship basis. Who does the attacking gets a bonus. The speed of the ships would give bonuses. Special components on a ship could enhance the bonus as well. I think th
I had to laugh. I am playing a game right now and am currently getting my butt handed to me by the Dark Yor. The Alterians sent me "several of their best ships" to help me in the war. Guess what they were....5 freighters with missles. Each have 1 HP. I don't think i have ever seen the AI build ships like that before...certainly not fight me with them. It's almost like they were made just to give away. The things are so slow, i have not been able
2) Stop calling people cheap. It is the least productive (and inaccurate) argument to make. A mini-expanision is not a pizza. Although some people might balk at 9$... most buyers don't really care about the difference between 5-10 bucks. What they do care about is value. If you tried to sell me a rock for 10$, I would be offended
You can buy it for me then rich man. For some It is a lot of $$ especially when you dropped $40 for a game that was advertised as having modding ability and a company reputation of great service and updating games a lot. Nowhere was it advertised that you yould have to pay extra for the full enjoyment of the game on top of
I was not replying to you dystopic. Sorry for the confusion. I was replying to the fellow who seemed to think a profit could be made off of a $1 ship pack IF 100,000 people purchased it. My point was, you could improve on his gross if only 12% of his original number purchased at the suggested $9. But thank you for helping to make my point. At least two of us agree. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" bord
$9 * 12,000 people (a much more realistic number) = $108,000. Not hard to figure that one out.
$1 to $2 ??? Good grief...who will create them...some 10 year old in a 3rd world sweatshop somewhere? It would not be worth their time or effort at that price. You get what you pay for.
I really don't undrestand the gripe about charging $9 for a ship pack. Ok, if you can do it for free yourself...do so and don't buy it but people saying this $9 is too high or somehow adds to corporate greed...give me a break. Do you think artists work for free? At some point consumers have to take give a little back to the provider/consumer relationship. The main reason any company is in business is to generate an income by selling it's products.
