dogfish...$9 for a large Dominos with one topping...
GCFL
I would purchase a ship pack for $9. To say that price point is high is laughable (that's the price of a pizza people). Considering all of the enhancements you guys do for free, I have faith that the content of such an art pack would be reasonable and as someone mentioned, it's optional and I assume would list the contents of the pack so I can decide if I want to purchase then. I say go for it!
Hmm, you know what would be fun...create my own race and play as a pirate. Rather than value planets as a normal race (I guess I may need a moon or something) but make my condition of victory be based on subjugated trade routes and terror against other races. Can't be done as currently programmed but I could REALLY get into that scenario.
yes but they all value everything the same. They may arrive at different methods or have certain predispositions but they all value planets, etc exactly the same. This is necessary for the game to move forward and have conflict but it would be nice if these differing values could play a bit more in how each race strategically calculates it's route to victory (other than I am evil, you are good so now I will attack you).
I will be quick and to the point... I love Barahir's idea. Problem is, since the planets are not differentiated by atmosphere, etc, and only graded numerically in terms of quality, I do not see how the races could tell the difference unless the numeric values of each planet varied for each race. My 15 planet may be a 4 for the Yor, etc.
I have been playing since the release and have yet to see any pirates. Is there anyway to actually increase the occurances of pirates other than just the random events that you have to answer? It seems to me with all the pirates I find on planets etc., that I would actually see more in the actual game. I for one would love to have to hunt some down or at least meet some in battle.
I have been playing around with the HOMM V demo and it is pretty good. If the demo is good, I can only assume the final version will be also. BTW, not sure if it will allow much modding considering the intense graphic nature of the title but it will come with a map editor...insuring a longer life on my HD.
umm, I don't think anyone was talking about invisible ships...at least i was not when i started the thread. My intent was to only make it "invisible" on radar. I think the term "stealth" is what we mean here. Pretty funny observation though.
Who is asking for a best seller? It would require more than just basing it offf of check points. Anyway I am not asking for it and stated it was pie in the sky BUT I think if anyone ever tried to implement this it would be cool...and I do not mean just this game. I have seen this done professionaly so I know it can be done. Besides, long ago when games first started, narratives were very much part of the gaming experience...they just were not creat
I really think we are about to see some good titles this years (as mentioned) I may be wrong but I have really not seen many stratagy games I have been really interested in or happy with in the last few years. This year is the first where I actually look forward to some new titles. I agree about the comment made about real time twitch jockies getting their hands in the turn based market and screwing it up any further. Keep up the support for the little guys and the bigger ones t
ah come on guys...no comments on my absolutely stupendous idea?
I think HOMM V will be a good title. Everything I have heard about the demo is good and generally demo reviews are pretty poor for most games (GalCIV II of course has had good reviews all around so I can't count that one).
found it...here you go: Link
Martimus, I checked the HOMM V forum and the big buzz is that it was decided they would NOT use starforce a couple of days ago...about the time they released the demo. I will have to go back and see if I can provide the link to the forum discussion.
Maybe turn based games were never really in trouble but this year seems to be one of the best years in recent memory. This year will have games such as GalCiv II, HOMM V (with no starforce), Dominions 3, the Malfador Mechanations title (can't think of it at the moment) and many more. Really more games to play than I have time...what a great problem to have!
I am pretty sure this has never been done before but wanted to get some feed back from others and perhaps put a bug in the ear of the devs. I think we all enjoyed the after action reports we were getting early on. I also think that most of us play this and other games like it for the "role playing" or imagination aspect of the game. I work for a hospital information company that has a software application suited for physician charting. Essentially, as the physician checks off certian actions
I am in sales for a hospital information system company. I am out of town every week but I love it. I get to sell healthcare software AND play PCgames in my hotel rooms everynight.
If it were added to the already existing sensor tech tree, I do not see why the AI would have any problem with it. It would just be a more advanced level of the sensor tech.
Perhaps my use of the term was incorrect then. It seems to be a matter of symantics. Your description is what I intended.
" That begs the question...if you started the war but were getting your butt walloped would you stick around, and refuse making a peace treaty so you could survive, just to see it through so they can win?" That's part of the issue as well. It seems that the AI is all too willing to start a war and maybe even join in but it also makes peace with other AIs much too quickly. The question is not if you would accept a peace treaty i
My thinking was that the item would be rather large so it would only be able to fit on a medium sized hull or larger...unless sufficient miniaturization was researched of course.
I noticed this also...same kind of thing happened to me. I made a post once asking if there was some way to increase the AI determination but got no response. The fact is, unfortunately, that the AI will almost always start a war on your side but never finish it. I would like to see it stick around with me if it is really my ally.
At the expense for suggesting a Trek like feature (I am not a huge fan myself) I do like the idea of perhaps adding a sub-category to the sensor research tree...cloaking or stealth ability. I think it would be great to add a cloaking ability that would hide a ship from other ships sensors UNLESS the other ship either reached a certain sensor ability or researched cloaking also. I can see some real stratagy involved in having one ship in a fleet with
This is somewhat of a sidebar issue relating to this AI alliance, war subject. It seems to me that allies are far too eager to make peace with your common enemy leaving you holding the bag. Is there a setting in the XML that can increase their determination?
I agree. I was not making that point flippently...just that some option are just that... options. I am not in the business of software design so I have no idea of the man hours required. Just sharing an idea...you never know...the game gods may just agree.
