The thing is: the internet bubble burst four years ago. All of the companies online now are ones that aren't stupid. It is not suprising that not stupid companies are making money. (Don't ask me why everyone was suprised that stupid companies did not make money four years ago)
ClockWise
Interestingly enough, BonusType 2 and 4 seem to duplicate 1 and 3, respectively. I'm not sure what LuckFactor does.
Popup, In my ideal mod, I get a big bonus for losing the senate. Sucks to democracy. Anyways. None of the AI players selected my +500 PQ party. :(
I didn't really mean to contribute to a short term screwing-up of the Metaverse feature. Sorry for that. I'm certain that the exploit can be adressed by the Stardock people. That said... I'm going to go home tonight and see if the AI players choose a government that is obviously the best pick. While the Drengin might like a modded party that includes a 50% weapons bonus, it would be wrong to pass on that 500% planetary bounus. I'll just give myself a 500% sensor bon
Jeff, I just figured that Cari misunderstood the question. Regardless, I don't really think it's wrong to pass along mod possibilities. Stardock is all about customization. I guess they are going to have to fix the scoring system. Do they band games that include lopsided tech mods, or event mods? I've been trying to figure out what the variables for invasion tactics mean (they are not listed). What happens when I figure that out? I suppose mods will make the metav
Jeff, Psshhhh... if they didn't want the political parties modded, they wouldn't have commented all of the variables so well. Heck, they probably wouldn't have listed the variables at all. I'm sure that the metaverse does not accept games that used modded parties.
Verenti, I live in Dartmouth. Spooky! We've got another NDPer, Wendy Lill. And I think Peter Stoffer is still elected in Sackville.
I just mentioned this in the mods forum, but it probably bears repeating. If you add another political party to the list of choices at startup, it is hard to select it... since the scrolling up/down arrows don't do anything. The only way to scroll is using a mouse scrollwheel. And even this is sort of weird, since it seems to be reversed when scrolling through parties. If you don't have a wheel on your mouse, I don't think that you will be able to select the new parties.
Nah, Verenti, NDP is a real party in Canada! They have 14 seats in parliament! They strive to protect the environment, and have some really keen policies on that. Their economic policies aren't so great.
Oh crap... big bug. The scroll arrows beside the list of party names are just for show! They don't actually scroll when you click on them. So you can only see the default number of parties. The only way I can figure to see all of the NEW parties is to use the scrolling wheel on my mouse.
Thank God someone is listening. I just spent one hour figuring out how to make political parties. I banged out a little tutorial on how to do it: http://www.emaculation.com/galciv/galparty.html Sort of rough. As I noted there, I'm not sure how the AI players will react to the new parties, since I don't know how AI players are assigned parties in the first place. And while elections can accomidate new parties, the senate "map" does not appear to. And I am su
So I'm just talking to myself, but of course that refers to the penalty you suffer if you loose control of the senate!
Hold on... what's the point of the "PenaltyType" identifier. Is it required? It seems sort of redundant.
Huzzah! I just started with a class 114 Earth. I think I will build a couple extra starfighters, to prevent the Drengin from taking it over.
TeeHee... I thought I was keen knowing how to use the Universalists and the Industrialists. I'm going to have to go and figure out how to made an uber-powerful party. I shall call it... THE NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY. Joy!
Thrull, I've got about 2.9 years (so far) worth of a degree in English Literature bouncing around in my head. Since I've paid $15,000 (cheap!) to learn how to write nicely, I figure I should put my powers to good use. If anyone is willing to give me permission, I'll dump my DATA folder to my website. If not, I'll just cut and paste the appropriate parts into a .txt file and let everyone else do the cut and pasting for themselves.
Yes. Removing all of the "//"'s will let you use those parties. Try it!
I noticed at least one occurrence of "it's" in 1.02. And that godawful second-to-last sentence of the opening (before "Time will tell") was unchanged. And the tense was still frigged up in a sentence a couple of lines up. I rewrote the opening bit and all of the party description. Not just the typos, but the general sense of the words. I think that they are a little more easy on the brain my way. If I find out that it is okay, I'll upload the modified files to my site.
Argh! That means that if I go to reapply the changes I won't gain the full advantages of the patch. And that means that I can't distribute my masterwork, because no one will want to install it. help... But regardless, does anyone know the legality of the situation? Oh, I discovered a political party that don't show up in the opening dialog. Keen!
Wait a second... will English.str be overwritten by official updates?
Oh! I've found everything I need! The event descriptions and the tech descriptions are easy enough to locate and change. And everything else is buried inside of "English.str." That's a big file. Brad: would it be illegal of me to distribute a modified copy of "English.str"? Or any of the CORE files, for that matter?
Please forgive me if this has already been raised. An "evil action" modifier ought to be tagged to using the terror star. I've been using mine to blow up one Drengin system every couple of turns... and the systems all have at least 30 billion people in them... and I've taken out at least ten systems... That's a whole lot of murdered civilians, and so I probably shouldn't be able to keep my glassy interface. And maybe the good aligned races ought to be upset with me.
Is it possible to rewrite game dialogs? Like the technology descriptions and the event descriptions and so on. It would be nice to go through and fix all the typos and bad sentences. Someone made a mod for "Morrowind" that did just that, and it made the game a whole lot more pleasant to play. Help?
Well I never!!!
Uh... so that link had nothing to do with boogiebar. http://boogiebar.hypermart.net/
