As it stands now, very few of us (to the best of my knowledge) equip most of our ships with sensors. I know I do not. This way it would make the sensor tech much more valuable for game play purposes and almost essential for military warships. This is true, although i still research sensors fairly quickly - mainly because the technology is ch

So as an example - (this following event i think is old?) 'save the lives of the moon colony' which costs say 400bc, i would have thought was a one off expense? However, it does not specify in the event description that it is a one off expense, so i cannot assume anything? What about the event that causes an increase in interest rates? I assume this effects what you pay back if you use the contractors to buy stuff? and i assume this is a permanent thing? However, none of this is mention
Tiny hulled ships have one almighty advantage when high end weapons are around.... they dramatically reduce the overall hitpoints an enemy fleet can do. If for example, one enemy ship has firepower of 200 points, your ship has say 8 hitpoints, then all you recieve is 8 hitpoints! This is a serious advantage. I believe it is fixed in DA though, so yea, that will make small hulled ships pretty obselete.
The critical weakness of powerful ships are 'tiny' ships. Their massive firepower becomes limited to whatever hitpoints that tiny ship has. You will find the overall fleet damage the dreadlords can do to you will be DRAMATICALLY reduced if you stick to using tiny ships. Be warned, the tiny ship advantage is fixed in Dark avator.
Hi Since my wife got a $400.00 dollar digital camera for Christmas, she wan'ts me to spend $400.00 dollars on my computer as my christmas gift from her. Thing is, i'm not sure what to buy? I have a x86 15 family model 12 stepping 0 authenticAMD 2009 mhz system with 1024mb ram and a gigabyte radeon 9600 pro 256mb ram video card. What i'm thinking, i a new motherboard with the new fast ram - or instead, a new video card, any other suggestions urgently needed?
You misunderstand me. ...in reference to my targetting system, such a system (whose goal it is to reduce the minimum damage an enemy ship might do) would be involved in combat as a counter to targeting systems placed onto ships to increase minimum damage! No missunderstanding, like i said before; <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="9
could potentially find myself at odds with a civ that owns more than half of the galaxy, and has the power of the Dread Lords. That would mean...game over. Game over?? Game just beginning more like!!! oh please show me the way to that scinerio.... ahh what it is to dream, to dream of such a battle so glorious and so immensly fun that i cou
Hi Of the random events that occur at the beginning of a turn, the ones which give you choices... i have always wondered what effects are permanent and what effects are a one off thing? because it never specifies this in the descriptions?
Turning away from mass driver weaponry is as likely as dodging a laser, in that sense. Not too easy, though I suppose when you're a light second away, there's room to dodge lasers, too. Mass drivers are about as fast as missiles and beam weapons definately are instantanious... going by what i see in the combat screen. Also the speed of the s
My advice would be to check out some vidio card manufacturers websites and see what kind of compatability options they have.
I used to use colony ships with the minimum possible number of people in Galciv1 for the purpose of improving my civ's ethical alignment. I would go and colonise crappy worlds - anything above 11 will still grant random events. I would pick the good option and then destroy the colony, at which point it would ask me if i really wanted to destroy the colony of 1 million citizens.
I don't have any population porblems, they just have a lot of troops at thier disposial on this one planet and I havn't gotten around to upgrading my trnasports with an extra troop module yet Ah yea, so useless are those early model transports hehehe, i never even try using those ones - you gotta have the patience of a saint!
The pirate issue has been discussed allot. Since it is extremely idiotic to imagine a galaxy 'suddenly' filling up with massivly powerful pirates, i like to just pretend it is an invasion from an unknown race which happen to go by the name 'pirates'.
it is rare that I encounter another civilization using mass-drivers. This provides them, them, with a level effectiveness courtesy of their exclusiveness. They always use mass drivers in my games. Although i have noticed in early stages, they tend to develop missiles and beam weapons first. In my current game, the missile and mass driver tec
Sometimes your weapons become inneffective during the game. Normally this happens when the AI changes it's defences but also it happens on occasion for no apparant reason. Has anyone else experienced innefective weapons for no reason?
Minor races have a super charged economy, making them great for trading... not only that but also because you can stop the main AI races from getting rich off your trade. Further, if you trade with a nearby minor race, they can become quite strong which creates an interesting twist in the game.
I believe that minimum number would be.... 1 It is? i thought it was 1 million, i forget? Well this has been great fun guys but I have to say I really think PizzSKat summed it up rather nicely with this enligh
By the point that you're creating small singularities and launching them at people, I'd expect accuracy to have improved. Actually, i don't even know how you would controll the trajectory of a singularity? As in, what is stopping a targeted ship from simply turning away from it? At least missiles can trach a target, and beam weapons are inst
Eh, I just meant "sensor ghosts" as names for possible countermeasures on the ship (like point defense and ECM are for missile defense), not as any special effect on radar or long range sensors. Sensors in the game are only for detecting ships, they are not involved in combat.
How does the current setup require the minimum damage to be lowered? As it is, it's already a minimum of one per weapon... aside from making stuff miss entirely, how much more CAN it be lowered? Ah my wording is totally missleading sorry.... i was thinking of reducing the 'extent' of the minimum possible damage, meaning quite the opposite t
The whole ship stacking system is crazy! You don't know which ship is going to move, you don't know which ship is displaying what details, you don't know which ship your upgrading.... hell i've even had starbases get constructed in a stack 'after' moving a constructor out and putting it in position. The whole thing is crazy. What i do now is i make certain to deselect every ship in a stack, then i click on the ship i want at least five times, just to make sure it is g
There is a mega-event version in DA though that increases ALL abilities each turn. Sounds good.
It's a logical idea, not sure i like it. i support the idea of reducing the minimum effects of weapons, that definately needs fixing. I like the idea of sensor ghosts... that way you would still know an enemy ship is coming but you wouldn't know exactly where it is. This would create some new and interesting combat dynamics.
(although in my current game the Drengin seem to have 5000+ troops per a planet one of which is a class 8 with over 10,000). While waiting for your population to recover, pull back your forces and let the drengin go on the offensive. Leave one or two of your planets unprotected so they bring transports. Over time, their population will go d
I think that I read somewhere that it gives a 1% increase per turn across the board to the civ that gets it. Does that include ship defence/attack/hitpoints/speed?
