Aaaaahhhhh... the silence is deafening. Will there ever be an honest response as to when this will get released? Or, will we continue to hear the grass grow???

Or, you know, you could actually do something productive.

It's winter here,so it may be along time to hear the grass grow. Then maybe that says somthing too.

Not exactly sure what you mean by that. As I am not naturally gifted as yourself, I can only respond as a consumer. I am, however, intelligent enough to not cut off my nose to spite my face, and will reserve further tirade until I get my udate.

This becomes ridiculous...

I think they are working on Galciv2 Version 1.1. We pay for products that don't work as they supposed to... WIndows FX, ThinkDesk, RightClick, Iconpackager.... Enhanced Dialog...

The excuss of lack of employees is not a good one. The same as giving bandwith to the galciv2 website. I pay for Wincustomize.com and this last two months the site was terrible to reach.....So is the lack of communication....

Ps. When you look at the personalsites you can see that Stardock employees visit this site every day but do not respont.

Ok, I know that some think that I'm on a tirade or crusade here by continually posting in this forum of my frustrations. They keep telling me to shut-up, that I'm an ungrateful person and give them more time via e-mail, IM, and through comments in the various forums. Let me make it clear that I continue to remain a faithful and happy customer of most products that Stardock produces. I love what the products do to make me more productive and add flair to my computer. Stardock has always lived up to and exceeded my expectations over the years. I just expect completed projects when they are publicly released... to which Apogee was not complete.

Some may ask why I and others continue to post these comments in the forums. Simple... it is not to tear down the company, the skinners, or anyone else. We are not flaming. Instead, we want the company to clearly know how their customers are feeling about their products, how they can improve/fix them, and be a better communicator to the masses.

Mr Edivion, let me address a couple of quick comments... sometimes I think that the Stardock crew feels like they are communicating by some of the postings in other forums and the articles created... which is great. For that, I am very thankful because it has provided some great insights, ideas, and workarounds to issues. But, I believe the communication issue that irks me is the continual broken promises and excuses. Personally, when I worked in retail management, I would have had tons of people leaving as disgruntled customers to never return again, or asking for their money back if I communicated with them in the same ways that we have experienced here and/or sold uncompleted merchandise.

Come on Stardock... communicate with us honestly and stop releasing incomplete items. We love the work and are very grateful for the dedication. Just step up to the plate and quit alienating us customers.

Applause. That expresses my feelings pretty well, too.

I am thinking of extending My Wincustomize Subscription For a Further 2 Years but not until we get this Upgrade to the Apogee Icon Suite i think this is really bad service keeping everyone just hanging on like this promise after promise is broken and to be quite honest i am getting a little bit fed up with it all.

Come on Stardock, it can't be that hard...

Interesting.... my most prior posting (#137) was changed (not by me) with no reason given... Has it become time to censor the unhappy customers??????

Jack... I too noticed your original message with the screenshot. Not sure if it was removed due to size restrictions or if it was censored. Either way, I was upset that nobody posted a message as to why your posting was modified. Talk about a total denial of freedom of speech! The fact is, you spoke the truth and the truth hurts. I'm happy to see the new releases of certain products from stardock... but, very upset that promises are still broken.

Paul... Love the updated icon pack!!! It is absolutely awesome. Thank you for doing such a great job on the pack... even amidst our impatience! Please understand that our frustrations were not directed at you!

Thanks, Paul, for the extraordinary update. I haven't had a chance to use them all as yet, but given the couple of sets I have tried, it's truly a magnificent package.

As for the waiting, well I had plenty to keep me occupied and it just heightened my anticipation.....and I'm far from being disappointed. It's by far the best icon set I've ever had the pleasure of using, and again, thank you

Now that the update is out, hopefully some of you who were loudest will look closely at the effort involved in the creation of each one.

With 200 unique icons all supporting up to 256x256, some people I think are ignoring that the detail these things now require is essentially 200 pieces of art.  It's a long way from the Orion days where they were designed for 64x64 originally.

Orion is pretty cool still but compare:

to

We realize some of you are frustrated, but at the same time, some of you act like we're a bunch of robots.

Moreover, some people have set their expectations so high that they're doomed to disappointment.

We pay for products that don't work as they supposed to... WIndows FX, ThinkDesk, RightClick, Iconpackager.... Enhanced Dialog...

This sort of comment makes me want to say "Perhaps you should ask for a refund and go spend your money on a better value."  I use RightClick every day. I live by it.  The new WindowFX has obviously gotten a ton of attention, how can anyone possibly complaina bout that? What's wrong with IconPackager? How is it incomplete? Incomplete compared to what?   KeepSafe and Multiplicity (on ThinkDesk) both just got updates this month. And ThinkDesk is a product that many people here only paid $45 and will end up with at least 4 solid utilities that most people would expect to pay $40 each for.

Where Stardock has dropped the ball is on communication.  I agree. We're doing everything we can to improve that.  But I maintain that Stardock is providing good support and a very very good value.  What we're not doing so well is communicating what we're doing.  But I think in the past week or so we've started to turn that around as more resources come on.

We love you guys. And I am certain that customer loyalty and the community itself is responsible for Stardock's success. We haven't forgotten that.  It just really pains me when it seems like we're putting out so much cool stuff and we have people that seem to be comparing us to some mythical super company that we just can't compete with.

Another thing people aren't considering is how much of our resources are currently going in to getting our stuff working on Windows Vista.  Because I can tell you right now, virtually no desktop enhancement will work out of the box on Vista as it stands. And we're putting a LOT of effort into making sure as much of our stuff works on day 1 with new versions as possible.  But I realize we haven't communicated that with you so there's no way you'd know that.

Thank You very much for the open words, I personally aprecciate that much and it made me think finally. And You can be sure I know what fine piece of art Apogee is. That's why I was so keen on the update.

RightClick : So You say You don't lose menus ? Is there anything I can do on my end ?

Stardock still rox.
I also want to say Stardock rocks...but my main complainment was the lack of communication. Sorry If I defend you Frogboy...Keep up the good work...

No request, just a question : I see Paul has done many application icons for the filetypes, so would it be possible to get these as standalone to use for the apps (a few office ones are there now) ?

#137 was purely inflamatory and hardly clever.

It really would be nice if people had just a modicum of respect and patience.   The world WILL NOT end if an icon set is delayed in release.

And, BTW...it's out now...

c242, I am going to package up all the extra icons that I could not find a place for in the IconPacks and post them in the Misc. Icons library. As well as a few that I want to finsih in the future. This morning I posted the apogee walpapers. Get the "Bonus" icons out ASAP. As always just need to find the time to get them asembeled.

Thanks Paul, much appreciated. Could You also release that file-drawer ast standalone ? Would do a lovely filemanager - icon. And now I am quiet, enjoying what You have done so far and waiting silently. Wall is already applied.

I've been and will continue to be a loyal fan of Stardock. There's no place else to spend my money and get the quality, effort, and support (and functionality) that I get from my Stardock programs.
I, personally, felt that communication about the forthcoming update wasn't very well thought out and it seemed to me to be a "canned" system type of response with no further information amended to it. I bought and enjoyed Apogee well before this most current update and I was happy as a bug in a rug with it as it was. When notice of a great new addition and update to it was being released and the projected date came and went with no further information, I PERSONALLY felt that I wasn't worthy of having the information because of the STYLE of the presented notice and then the lack of any other updates about the upgrade. It didn't make me feel like a customer; a person who from this side of the outside world helped make Stardock the company it is...a sucessful software company. That was my only feeling at the time. It takes a big person to admit that they've done something they shouldn't have and I commend Brad on his forthright statements. Having seen his last post I once again feel that I AM part of the community and part of Stardock's company...a customer that has had a part in making it grow.
