APOGEE ICON SUITE
thank you.
Or, will we continue to hear the grass grow???
Or, you know, you could actually do something productive.
#112 by mormegil Mon, March 13, 2006 1:11 PM In short the finished Iconpackaes are made, we should have them avalible to everyone in the next few days.
Please understand that our frustrations were not directed at you!
Now that the update is out, hopefully some of you who were loudest will look closely at the effort involved in the creation of each one.
With 200 unique icons all supporting up to 256x256, some people I think are ignoring that the detail these things now require is essentially 200 pieces of art. It's a long way from the Orion days where they were designed for 64x64 originally.
Orion is pretty cool still but compare:
to
We realize some of you are frustrated, but at the same time, some of you act like we're a bunch of robots.
Moreover, some people have set their expectations so high that they're doomed to disappointment.
We pay for products that don't work as they supposed to... WIndows FX, ThinkDesk, RightClick, Iconpackager.... Enhanced Dialog...
This sort of comment makes me want to say "Perhaps you should ask for a refund and go spend your money on a better value." I use RightClick every day. I live by it. The new WindowFX has obviously gotten a ton of attention, how can anyone possibly complaina bout that? What's wrong with IconPackager? How is it incomplete? Incomplete compared to what? KeepSafe and Multiplicity (on ThinkDesk) both just got updates this month. And ThinkDesk is a product that many people here only paid $45 and will end up with at least 4 solid utilities that most people would expect to pay $40 each for.
Where Stardock has dropped the ball is on communication. I agree. We're doing everything we can to improve that. But I maintain that Stardock is providing good support and a very very good value. What we're not doing so well is communicating what we're doing. But I think in the past week or so we've started to turn that around as more resources come on.
We love you guys. And I am certain that customer loyalty and the community itself is responsible for Stardock's success. We haven't forgotten that. It just really pains me when it seems like we're putting out so much cool stuff and we have people that seem to be comparing us to some mythical super company that we just can't compete with.
Another thing people aren't considering is how much of our resources are currently going in to getting our stuff working on Windows Vista. Because I can tell you right now, virtually no desktop enhancement will work out of the box on Vista as it stands. And we're putting a LOT of effort into making sure as much of our stuff works on day 1 with new versions as possible. But I realize we haven't communicated that with you so there's no way you'd know that.

#137 was purely inflamatory and hardly clever.
It really would be nice if people had just a modicum of respect and patience. The world WILL NOT end if an icon set is delayed in release.
And, BTW...it's out now...
c242, I am going to package up all the extra icons that I could not find a place for in the IconPacks and post them in the Misc. Icons library. As well as a few that I want to finsih in the future. This morning I posted the apogee walpapers. Get the "Bonus" icons out ASAP. As always just need to find the time to get them asembeled.
Could You also release that file-drawer ast standalone ? Would do a lovely filemanager - icon.
And now I am quiet, enjoying what You have done so far and waiting silently. Wall is already applied.
