GUI Olympics = GUI World Championships

GUI Olympics = GUI World Championships

It's almost time again..

Hard to believe that nearly 2 years have passed but it's almost time to have another one.

Last time it was WindowBlinds, IconPackgaer, and Winamp.

What 3 categories would you like this time? Which websites would you like to see participate?

How about all Object Desktop, Firefox, maybe some widgets too. Kapsules, DX, Konfabulator (Yahoo! Widget Engine now). Maybe something simple like wallpapers too.

Only 3 catagories? Windowblinds (of course), Iconpackager, and either winamp (I'm still using the skins from the last competition) or Cursor XP (both would be favorite). I'd like to see all the websites from last Olympics back agin and maybe Dangeruss would like to rip out a skin or too

Windowblinds and Iconpackager are a must, perhaps this time you should highlight some of the programs which havn't quite been skinned to their full potential yet, such as Desktopx (maybe best desktop theme, and then a best widget/gadget category) or the new objectbar (when's that going to come out of beta and become a general release btw?); and a windows media player category would be nice as well.
Oh, and I really think you should create a new category "best skin suite", which must contain at least a windowblinds, iconpackage, logon, boot, and cursor; having a great windowblinds skin is awesome, but having a whole suite of matching skins is even better (a lot of entries in the last GUI olympics ended up making suites anyway, so I really think you should consider adding this as a category).

WB, BootSkin, CXP, IP?

By the way, only three categories? Seeing as how it [was] called the GUI olympics, I should think there would be a lot of categories covering a wide range of programs...

CursorXP, WB and DX Gadgets...

...But of course, Trillian, 'amp, and IP (respectively) are good too.

I think if you have skin categories that are more 'universal,' like winamp and trillian (as opposed to 'just' for stardock products), it will draw more people in from other sites.

I'd have to go with WindowBlinds (a definite), Rainlender, DesktopX objects/widgets, Icon Packager, CursorXP (in that order).
I use lots of DX objects/widgets and I'd like to see even more inventive and useful ones come about.

MOST DEFINATELY...WB & IP. I would also like to see more creative Gadgets!

I'd be very surprised to see CursorXP, Bootskin, Rainlender or Sysmetrix as part of the entries.
Windowblinds and Iconpackager alone takes 2 to 3 weeks or more to complete.
Sorry, but all the afor mentioned items can be done in a day, sometimes hours.

If the prizes are the same, for all the categories, then why do a WB or IP at all.
Does anyone believe that a person would spent 3 weeks to make a CursorXP?
I may be talking from the hip, because I don't know how they will have it set up this year.
This might all be moot.

Yeah, maybe 3 major ones, like WB, IP and something else. But also a few of the more 'minor' ones. Just like the real Olympics has silly sports like curling or skeleton, we should have skins for some programs other than the big 3, whatever they end up being.

WB, IP & CXP

WindowBlinds, IconPackager and Gadgets/Widgets (created in Kapsules, Samurize, DesktopX.. and maybe Y! widget engine too..)

Blinds/Packager take care of the Stardock categories, while the gadgets/widgets categories take care of non-stardock part.

frankly a mediaplayer as 3rd category is getting a bit old now...
morever gadgets/widgets are the IN thing nowadays plus the possiblities are endless...
yup, choosing a winner would be difficult but hey.. thats waht GUI olympics is all about..

Windowblinds, WindowFX, and Icon Packager.
No one makes WindowFX themes anymore.

1) Wallpapers (long time since I saw a really good one...I think it's the most basic, since it covers the whole desktop!!!)
2) WB (the most impressive and with long way to go...)
3) Dx (long long way to go...!)

Happy new year to everybody

I think Winamp category should have to be divided in winamp classic and winamp modern. What do you think?

I'd like to see some good stuff from www1.1001skins.com

I think if theres going to be winamp, it should be Winamp Modern skins only.
