....huummmmm, hummmmm... trying to use my telepathic powers.....hummmm, .......... sorry, didn't work.

Can you please explain what exactly happened? Did you get any error messages during installation? Where (and what version) did you download IconPackager. When exactly do you run into problems? Do you get any error messages (if yes can you please repeat them here?). Can you open the program?

Can you elaborate a bit more on the "small square of fuzzy colours"? When exactly does it show up, what do you do just before you see the "fuzzy colours"?

MK just doesn't want to give any info...

Take a deep breath. Count to ten, backwards. Then tell the forum what you did exactly, which Package was it, how is it you tried to make it work, what result you got.

The version may be important, I seem to recall earlier versions of IP don't play well with later versions of packages...but I could be mistaken.

When you're new at it, it's not readily apparent what information you need to provide. MKFreak could also be on dialup, and that can take some time.

See how that link shows the first screenshot, well, I can't even opne that window
, just a blank square appears on my taskbar. =/

Step 1) I downloaded it from Download.com, and everything goes well.

Step 2) I click finish, and it opens an folder. The only important one I need is Setup.exe.

step 3) I install it and everyting goes fine as planned. I try to open it and "Evualation Day 1 of 30" appears on my screen and again thats not what bothers me.

Conclusion: Thats all that happens what I click the icon, I cannot open, I repeat, cannot open anything else.

Hmm, have you tried and rebooted your computer? I think that this is normally needed, but also from experience I found that sometimes when the system has been running for a while (some programs did not exit correctly, while other did not start correctly...) you can get clashes with some of those "stuck" programs. The file you use when you try and open it is 'IconPackager.exe' right?

Posted via Troll Magic because the WinCustomize Browser/Stardock Central wasn't open

If that doesn't work may be a bad download or install. If it doesn't work and you can't uninstall it to try again, try this: Link to remove and so you can try again.

What packages do you have? 2 That spring to mind that caused some problems were Azenis & Blue Curve(?)
No, no no, I cant even open the main window to the program. I dint get
a chance to use the icons I downloaded yet.
At one point one or the other of the packages was causing IP not to work just being in the themes folder. navigate to the themes folder - for me it's at C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\IconPackager\Themes. Move them to another folder and see if IP will run.

Seems to me that lately a lot of people have been coming to this site with no patience and no tact.

"Yeah, that helps me alot.
Not doing anything, this program is a pile of crap."

Nice way to talk to people who are trying to help you.

Keep acting like this and no one will want to help you. I don't.

He is going on about a tray icon... what tray icon?

IconPackager starts from the Start Menu for one. You could just try double clicking on the .exe in the install directory also.

Your explainations to your issue are pretty much nonsense. Calm down.

Ok, try this. I'll run you through it in steps:

Step 1. ....Go to start/control panel/add-remove programs, and uninstall Iconpackager [The one you're having trouble with]
Step 2. ....When Iconpackager has completely uninstalled, go to C:/program files/Stardock/Iconpackager ...and delete any remaining files that may be there.
Step 3. ....REBOOT.
Step 4. ....Re-download the Iconpackager trial to your DESKTOP. When you begin re-downloading the file do not click "open" ...choose "save to" instead ...and choose to save it to your DESKTOP
Step 5. ....When download is completed, if the file you saved is within a zipfile, unzip it to your DESKTOP.
If it is not within a zipfile, skip the next step.
Step 6. ....Keep the unzipped file, and delete [or move] the rest from your DESKTOP.
Step 7. ....Double click the [now unzipped] file you have on your desktop, to begin the installation process.
Step 8. ....When the installation is complete ...REBOOT.
Step 9. ....After reboot, go to Start/All Programs/Stardock/Iconpackager ...and launch the Iconpackager application from there.
Step 10. ...Come back here and advise whether it is working or not. If it is, I'll give you a run-down of how to use it to change your icons, ~if you aren't sure what to do.

Good luck, and by the way ..it ain't a "pile of crap" ....as you'll see when you get it working.

Check what version you have. Right click, Properties. You probably have to do it on the actual .exe in the IconPackager Folder.

Then, make sure any packages you download are compatable. I have found that newer packages don't work with my version. Unfortunately, not all the authors mention which version the package will work with.

Good Luck!

MKFreak, if you downloaded the IconPackager trial version from download.com, it may not be the most up to date version. If that is the case, there are some more recent icon packs which will cause the program not to work. your best bet is to follow the procedure mapped out in #19, but the following link will take you to the most recent trial version from Stardock

That link eventually takes you back to download.com. Both the Stardock and Download.com pages say it's version 3.0 (date added June 15th, 2005)

Did you get the evaluation splash screen? TryNow<---click it.

Did you get the evaluation splash screen? TryNow<---click it.

That was exactly what I was thinking.he didnt mention that at all. With free trial version you will get splash screen almost every time and you have to click " try now " each time you go to use it.
Are you doing this ?
