Turinium should be the default, not the option

Most of my games in the first Ashes were Turinium, and the longer I played the less I wanted anything else.

Annihilation games had a shape I got tired of. Somebody wins the big fight somewhere around the middle, and then there is half an hour of going round the map finding the last few buildings while everyone already knows how it ends. The fight that decided it was the only part worth playing.

Turinium changed where the fights happened. Every generator you held was something you had to keep holding, so you couldn't pull everything into one army and push one lane. You ended up running three or four fronts at once and the game was mostly about which one you could afford to let go. That was most of the fun for me.

The Ashes II journal on it says it is coming back, with settings to tune how long a game runs. I haven't played II so I have no idea what the defaults look like. What I hope is that whoever sets them treats Turinium as the normal way to play rather than the quick mode for people short on time, because in the first game that was where most of the interesting decisions were, for me anyway.
